Randolf Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) I wonder if anyone has tried one these? (http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/10/2552518/sony-hmz-t1-personal-3d-viewer-review) . Combined with Track IR I imagine it could give very immersive simming experience. They are currently very expensive. 800€ in Sony's shop to be precice, though that shop has always a slight overprice. However, if they get a little cheaper in a while I might consider one, given that enough people confirm they are actually good for flight simulators. ps. Some advanced graphics cards have the possibility of creating a 3D effect on a 3D screen* even in some games which weren't designed to have such a feature. I am not however, sure if DCS is one of these games. If someone has tried this on DCS, I would be interested in your success / failure. *Same likely applies to this HMZ-T1. emenance Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Thanks for the link. I buy Sony stuff and I know this is a very new thing to hit the market. http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666383670&XID=O:sony%20hmz%20t1:dg_tv_gglsrch:e&k_id=4483a70a-3155-9848-9be5-000020e0e5de#reviews For 800 bucks though its expensive but delivers. I have always liked the 3 d effect. I think Sony does it best. Mnemonic Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I think for DCS Silicon Microdisplays ST1080 would be better. It's the first and only HMD on consumer market who delivers true FULL HD resolution. http://www.siliconmicrodisplay.com/st1080-features.html

You have to drop to 720 to get 60Hz refresh. It also would be nice if they listed the response rate. At least, like most others, they don't say "EQUIVALENT TO A 50" TV!!!! seen from 100 feet.". They just go right out and tell you- 45 degree diagonal FOV. As far as using one of these for DCS... how would you see your keyboard/cockpit/etc? Personally, I'm waiting for wider FOVs and lower prices. But won't that still leave the major problem: how to see your computer/keyboard/HOTAS/switches/etc. with this big thing blocking all your forward vision? That's where the gloves that are synched to the virtual pit will come in.. Then instead of seeing dovens of people walking around and sitting with their heads down and their thumbs going nuts you will see people sitting around gropng at the air... :megalol: .. .. but seriously .. didn't someone come up with a set of glasses recently that are supposed to be HD but will still allow you to see the world around you.. That is way cool BTW.. can FFB body suits be very far behind.. Daniel M Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I think there is a gap between the glasses and your face, so you could in theory peer down and see a sliver.....I think i remember seeing something about a rubber "grommet" that you can place under if you did not want the gap. Though, I don't own either so....
