Shaman Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Yes, very positive hobby. It's great he has chosen to model Flanker, not some ugly US planes ;) 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

AJS Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Can you say 'too much spare time' ? Can you say 'he sells the stuff and make lots of money' ? :D
Andrew_McP Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Can you say 'too much spare time' ? Coming from a flight sim fan that's a little rich! At least he has something to show for all the hours he "wastes". What do we have? A massive heap of broken virtual aircraft! :-) That's a beautiful model Su-27 that must be worth quite lot of money if he ever sells it. I admire his dedication. Andrew McP
Nate Dogg Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Man that is just fantastic! notice how his son gets like 3 years older! For anyone who speaks german, does he make his model a RC jet plane? He was putting in servos and such to move the control surfaces and seems to put in fuel tanks in various places. I wonder what the mass of the entire model is? Anyone wanting to take a guess? Im thinking 80-120Kgs
Ice Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I'm not sure he finished. I ddnt see anything put in the engine areas. Not even some fake fans to fill in the blanks.
Prophet_169th Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 That is more than a hobby. That is just unreal. I paid like $120 for one of the larger scale f-16's. I wonder how much he gets for those?
sixer Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 tell him grate-planes makes landing gear for that and he is going to need to make the intakes realy strong and he should put vents on the back of the canipe or it will fog up from the gas and sun. looks grate good thing he made the mold he is going to need 3 or 4 of them for testing. i crashed 2 of mine befor i got the C.G right. looks cool and good luck. be safe. and stand back ;) do not run fly!
sixer Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 it cost $1000 for the gear $900 for a kit $2000 per jet eng and $40 per servo and $800 for a good radio. + gass ect ect... do not run fly!

RC planes are pretty cool, i had a small trainer plane i used to fly a little bit, but its just gathering dust at the moment. Very expensive hobby if you venture into jet power. Especially if you crash!

SuperKungFu Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I wonder how much did that cost all together. Will he continue to post pictures because it would be a shame if those last pictures was his finished work because the nozzles weren't even added. He should also give it a paint job, then it would look really awesome. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Haegar Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Looks like. His last sentence is Nach der JET-POWER Messe in Bad Neuenahr (16-18.September 2005) geht es dann mit der Endmontage weiter. that means that after the JET-POWER exhibition in Bad Neuenahr (Sep. 16-18 2005) ends he will continue with the final assembly. I guess it takes a bit time to do this, shoot the photos and put them on the website...
sixer Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 MORE like its going to take him a long time to get it in the air. he still needs flaps and a ruder ECT ect... it takes a long time to get it all working just right. :) do not run fly!
