EAC cold start

Hi,

 

I'm still running version 10. Whenever I do a cold start my EAC doesn't seem to work (it shows on the warning panel) and it doesn't click although I can see in game that the switch is going back and forth when I move it on my Hotas WH. I've also tested the switch through the options page and it is seen there. It all seems to work fine if I start on the runway. Does anyone know if this is a bug?

Hey mate, you need to make sure your EGI is fully aligned (4.0), in Nav and selected as the nav source before you can engage EAC.

A: Ensure that you have selected EGI on the Navigation Mode panel below the HSI. This selects the CDU as the navigation data source. From version 1.1.0.8 the plane defaults to using HARS on ramp start. See page 117 in the Flight Manual for details.

Hi Kaiza - yes I did that. I don't arm the EAC or RAD ALT until the EGI is aligned!

Make sure CDU INS alignment is at T= 4.0 0.8

Hit NAV mode on CDU

Make sure all 4 SAS switches on

Set nav mode to EGI

Enable EAC

Depth - yeah I did all that in that order... as I said the switch moves (in game) but no click. Although it does work if I start from runway (without the cold start) i.e. already running.

After the alignment do you switch form Hars navigation to EGI navigation? If you don't do that you can't arm EAC.

Conditions that have to be met:

 

- Allignment: T=4.0 0.8 NAV READY FLASHING

- CDU: NAV selected

- EGI Selected

- SAS Channels ON

Yes Mr Eagle - exactly like that.... and have met those conditions!

and before anyone else asks - yes I do wait for alignment and CDU: NAV selected and EGI Selected and SAS Channels and on Nav panel change from HARS to EGI Selected and SAS Channels ON and press TO trim... so please keep in mind that I am NOT making mistakes with start-up procedure... just the EAC switch does not work..................................is it a bug?? remember I am not using the latest version!

This procedure has been the case for several version IIRC. Please post a track.

Have same issue too,cold start all correct,but mine decides to work after I've taken off and did some pitch nd turns,then it works fine. Its been like that since,nd I run the latest upgrade.

According to what you're both describing, your cold start is not correct. There is no problem having EAC come up on the ground as long as you properly align the INS and meet all other requirements.

I'd recommend upgrading, they've fixed a bunch of stuff since then, no? Also broke a few things.

Only EAC started, no tests, no engines etc.

 

Do you reset the switches on the Warthog throttle before loading the game in case you use one?

I made a track - but don't know where to look in the A10 directory to copy the file. I looked in the mission fiolder and saw one called 'tracks' but there was nothing in there. Can anyone tell me where to look? I took everyines advice on-board and made sure I didn't touch the EAC until the EGI was fully aligned and it still didn't work.... I'll post the track if someone can tell me where to find it.. lol :)

When you save a track you can choose any folder. It's X:\Users\[yourusername]\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Tracks by default though...

Thanks everyone... here is the track. You will get some strange views because i'm looking around my pit - so I have attached some photos of that as well. You can see the throttle ready and the instruments when all is aligned. The rad alt and EAC were two of the last things I switched on. I haven't upgraded yet because V10 worked really well and A10C was the first thing I installed because I wanted it at the root of my drive. I suppose if I do upgrade then I will patch it instead of re-installling it. I'm just worried it may not run as well though! :)

Look at picture 3: your system is NOT allgined there, even though NAV is selected.

OKay - I thought you could not switch from HARS to EGI unless it was aligned.... what should I see? Is it because I have not waited long enough? What am I doing wrong?

That asterisk means it's selected. Don't select NAV UNTILL T=4.0 0.8 and NAV READY is flashing.

Thanks MFT - so what happens if you do select it before T=4.00.8? Do you think I should get all the Nav up before I start engines e.g. when the APU is running and start engines last?
