diveplane Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) On the skin artist side, this affects our specular map textures, and depending if you have a GeForce 570 to 680, etc etc, the Specular shader will actually output differently. wont affect anything because the mod comes in 5 versions, low spec mod has lower values than default spec, also theres a version that has no specular for low end pcs need more horse power. all my mods include a backup default, so people can revert back if they dont want to use the mod. plenty of choices within the mod. ,also noone forces u to apply these mods they are made available to use if u want to try them out. Ali Fish Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 it does affect the power range of what the skin artists have to play with on any other than super spec, bar movie maker spec variant. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kuky Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 (edited) I just tried the High spec version and to me it does look nice when looking at object (aircraft) up close and when in cockpit you can see nice sheen over the wings (nice touch) but loading times are bit too high even for me and I have a Vertex 3 SSD. I find also that if you are looking at aircraft from far out it makes no difference in visibility, and I thought it would... I need to digest this mod bit more to decide if its a keeper or not (mostly due to high loading times) EDIT: I timed 2,5min loading time for Sunset Sierra mission... too long aye. This can't be loading from HDD, it must be some processing during loading... badly optimised shaders? Mustang Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Same here unfortunately, its not good for MP use for me since these long pauses can result in a client ping timeout.
PeterP Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 EDIT: I timed 2,5min loading time for Sunset Sierra mission... too long aye. This can't be loading from HDD, it must be some processing during loading... badly optimised shaders? A very uneducated guess: Do you remember the first installations of Warthog beta? - it took very long to load the first time, as the shaders where not pre-compiled. Now in every version they are pre-compiled by default , but maybe this mod changes the settings - so DCS has to do again on every start-up as the data doesn't match with the pre-compiled ones. There is a "shadercompiler.exe" (or similar) in DCS:World bin folder - did anyone tried to run it after you have installed this mod?
Esac_mirmidon Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 It has no effect in loading times using Asmshaderscompiler.exe. For me with mode on 120 seconds. Without mod 23 seconds. JABO2009 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 bright mod looks great !! can you add one more comparison pic? whats your loading time with brightness mod on ? cheers Intel I7 - 10700 K @ 3,80GHz / 64 GB DDR3 / RTX 3090 / Win 10 Home 64 bit / Logitech X56 HOTAS / HP Reverb G2 Running DCS on latest OB version
Devrim Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Oh my god... I should have read this topic before install the mod. I thought it was my sound files or anything what I did. After installing "Land Brightness Mods 1.0", the load time increases remarkably, 30 secs to 120 secs.! (Not mentioning about first run.) Great mod actually, but I had to uninstall Diveplane. Thanks so much for your work. ...it is pretty much weird to see these parameters affecting the loading times Right. I really don't understand either. neroroxxx Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 default file is in with the mod. Hey diveplane, I feel so stupid right now, it wasn't this mod that did it, I installed your mod first and worked great, it was DCS World Spotlight Source Mod 2 that did it but I confused the tread, I'm so sorry for mistake and thank you for your mod, it makes the a-10c look amazing.
