diveplane Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 (edited) ok heres the mod in action, Specular lighting you can see the suns rays shine bounce of the airframes, and ground models ingame, also canopy glass really shines up better reflects sunlight more. some older models ingame do not have this effect, or its very weak ingame. default no mod default no mod ..screen 2 mod installed on mod installed on ..screen 2 other shots mod enabled....below = beautiful looking... real f15 pic note the shine on the airframe.. ..post up land lighting effects shortly. aaron886 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Can you show a screenshot during mid-day hours so we can see it without the very yellow lighting?
diveplane Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 Can you show a screenshot during mid-day hours so we can see it without the very yellow lighting? very yellowish is sunset .. screen below beautiful shot of the f15c eagle in flight with effect on https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
diveplane Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 (edited) Any performance hit, mate? only let down is slightly longer loadtimes, but am sure theres a small performance hit with it, still its not to bad ingame and framerate testing so far, but its worth it, having it on is stunning to see in game, really brings the simulator to life and the models. the effect has always been there just values have been increased to bring dull bland models to life and give them that metallic real life look. Corrigan Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 It does look very good on those screens. :) I wonder how it looks on some of the lower quality models. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
diveplane Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 (edited) It does look very good on those screens. :) I wonder how it looks on some of the lower quality models. because some of the models have lower textures , mind this effect adjusts everything in the DCS World enviroment even ground units, so its not going to look as good on some units ingame, but as u can see its great for the latest aircraft models ingame, and imo worth it. so far its been positive results this mod in testing so this one will be a go for download soon, providing i dont come across a show stopper. ............................................ still to highlight land brightness adjustment as well, u guys think its to dull DCS World terrain lighting atm? would like some input on this one. = darker? or more vibrant lighting? , i could do a combo mod so it has both maybe.. 213 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 i think it looks like polished airshow display rather than real operation. that's the problem with specular reflection. it's too concentrated and glossy.
diveplane Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 (edited) i think it looks like polished airshow display rather than real operation. that's the problem with specular reflection. it's too concentrated and glossy. why i posted the real f15c pic up its quite close to the real photo imo, so i have to disagree with u on that. however the spec effect can be toned down as well, no problems with this effect, so might create alternative ones for everyone. diveplane Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 so whats the opinion on land brightness levels as they stand? needs more less? https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Mustang Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Could you give us an example of what you can do to change the terrain lighting effects?
diveplane Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) Could you give us an example of what you can do to change the terrain lighting effects? sure thing mustang stay tuned , will tone it bright and default side by side screens, this is just a example tester to show. aaron886 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Thanks for putting up those mid-day screens, diveplane. First shot looks okay, and flat surfaces look good, but otherwise it looks like a jello airplane. Seems to me the modification should be made to the aircraft's specular textures, not the world. Either way, good effort, always glad to see innovative thinking.

Either way, good effort, always glad to see innovative thinking. mod will have 5 versions including default for choice. = the low spec mod is lower shine than default. screens below of 5 versions. super high spec mod high spec mod low spec mod default spec movie making spec mod no spec mod ,this may bring few frame rates increase. diveplane Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Ok, and do you have one of darkened terrain? mean u want it darker looking than default? ok will make one. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
diveplane Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 ok land brightness mod, it will be 2 versions, and included default. screens below default brightness bright mod dark mod https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Kuky Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 low spec mod I like this one the best If you can have this little brightness added to aircrat in some distance (few km) this would help so much maintaining visual contact which I lose quite easy when textures blend in with background, this is what's missing and this should be great little mod PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
diveplane Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 ok specular lighting mod uploaded to user files section guys. look for = Diveplanes Global Specular Shine Mods .. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Kuky Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) how long till it shows on the list? Looks like I'll have to wait till tomorrow (bed time for me now) Thanks Diveplane! Esac_mirmidon Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 The mod is great but the loading times grows to much for me. More than 2 minutes to load when without this mod all runs well after 30 seconds. If someone is interested i have a 2500K OC to 4.5 " You must think in russian.." diveplane Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) just tried this mod, didn't notice THAT much of difference. except the loading times. it is pretty much weird to see these parameters affecting the loading times they have still to optimize shaders i think , should not be 2min to load?.. my tests are less than that. its just a little longer than normal. -Rudel- Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 On the skin artist side, this affects our specular map textures, and depending if you have a GeForce 570 to 680, etc etc, the Specular shader will actually output differently. https://magnitude-3.com/ https://www.facebook.com/magnitude3llc https://www.youtube.com/@magnitude_3 i9 13900K, 128GB RAM, RTX 4090, Win10Pro, 2 x 2TB SSD, 1 x 15TB SSD U.2 i9 10980XE, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090Ti, Win10 Pro, 2 x 256GB SSD, 4 x 512GB SSD RAID 0, 6 x 4TB HDD RAID 6, 9361-8i RAID Controller i7 4960X, 64GB RAM, GTX Titan X Black, Win10 Pro, 512GB PCIe SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD
