Read in the specs that only the visual range AA missiles will be implemented. Hopefully they will find a solution for BVR AAA. Want to make the Tor effective :-)

That would be interesting pvp. Air defense versus air power. Especially when players could deactivate radars etc...

 

But there's so much other good stuff in CA already...

normal visual range AA is only effective against helicopters

if jets keep an altitude above 3000 or 5000m,we can do nothing but watching...

I think we would all love to see a SAM with interior fully fleshed out and study-sim level.

I'm pretty intrigued about trying out an AA unit in Combined arms.

 

Check out this video from the German company that produces the Gepard Flakpanzer vehicle. I had no idea so much was going on inside that vehicle.... Can engage surface and air units, and the thing can slap on a few guided missiles too?? There's some footage in there of the simulator training too. Pretty neat stuff!!

They are fun, but remember that CA is not attempting to be a simulator of any particular platform. It's an addon that allows the player to control units at the 1st person, tactical or strategic levels...

Oh yea, I understand that Weta43, the idea of using some of these vehicles even if just in 1st person simplified mode made me look for more info on them, hence the video. The important thing is that this addon is going to be a lot of fun. :D

simple solution. From one vid it looks like it is taken from the perspective of a Tanguska. So to simulate the radar give us a revolving radar screen in the upper right corner of the same view to identify target location and to lock on. Then we can simulate the radar guided systems like the tor and Tanguska and even shilka.

Well. Can we deactivate a Sam unit? Can we issue orders to hold fire to a Sam unit? Those 2 features alone will improve the ground forces chances of surviving an attack.

I know that CA will not simulate the AA units and ground units at first, and just be an tactics sim, but there should be future plans to flesh out interiors, not with gamey radar scope MFD thigamajiggy things in the corners, but for example a gunners station simulating sights, different radars, different engagement modes for radars, etc. They should be done one by one, either by a third party developer or by ED. I don't know if it would be all that fair to have a gamey Tunguska that is just "Point and Shoot ," but the real deal, as this would not be fair to the A-10 or black shark pilot or P-51 pilot it is trying to shoot down who has to flip switches and check different gauges before he can squeeze off even one round of ammo. for fairness' sake, it should be done, at least.

PS. The Tunguska gunner's station does actually have all the things I mentioned, and the commander's station has some of them as well. It would be just like a two-seater fighter, just without the flight model ;)

Perhaps for the long term, yes, this could be considered. Personally I'd love to see an integration with SAM Simulator

 

But there are economic realities to deal with. Hopefully it will be possible, but who knows.

The integration with sam simulator would take work, it is coded in visual basic, I believe, but it could be possible.
