Is this going to be set up as a fly-in where participants could fly GA aircraft in and then taxi up to the ramp and participate?

Fly-in to the actual McConnell AFB air show would need to be arranged with the McConnell AFB air show staff. That is a totally separate unrelated entity. This event is being done in parallel to the McConnell AFB air show. Also, we don't have taxiway access between KAM and KIAB with the runway construction going on.

This is just the motivation I need to get my pit on wheels! Glad to see you guys supporting us pit builders. Looking forward to showing off my pit.

Excellent, send Justin an email of your needs with the registration. If you have any question he or I can answer them. :)

I'm knee deep in working on my cockpit at the moment. I'm also using this event as a motivator to get it in good shape.

That's a nice showing, lots of pits there.

Most of the ramp aircraft should also be open. 737, 727, KC-135 and air stairs to look into the B-52D and F-84F cockpits. I'll have my F-84F cockpit there setup next to the museum's F-84F. They're different block aircraft so they have differences in the cockpits. Mine is a -10-GK while the museum's is a -51-GK so the paint scheme inside and out and the main instrument panel configurations are different. An update of cockpits I've heard added to the list are an F-16 and an F-111 cockpit.

Here is a embed of that YouTube link, to make it easier.

Pan Am used to have a real TV commercials with stewardesses saying 'Fly us, we have big DC-10s'', I believe it was around the early 1970's. I don't know if any copies of the filmed commericals still exist... when they found out about how they were perceived, I think they let them broadcast a little while before they were pulled..

I'll be there. Not sure how big our group will be, but there should be a few guys from Texas with me too.

Looking forward to it!!

That's good news! We have an F-16 and F-111 coming from Ft. Worth.

If you're bringing a cockpit remember to fill out the registration before September 15th.

Thanks!

Justin

A mad dash to the finish line for today. I've still got to mask off and paint my cockpit interior today between the weather. It shouldn't be hard, because it's just like the one I did for the KAM F-84F. This afternoon I also setup the projection setup for the sim above. It'll be 90 degree circular single projector. Not anything like I normally do, but should still be fun under the circumstances.

My aircraft while it was stationed at Sheppard AFB in Texas as a ground training aircraft.

Looking good!

Myself and a few friends will be making the trip to Wichita this evening. We won't be over to the museum until around noon. How do we find you in particular?

--DW--

Ask for Justin or Brad. Both of us will be running around. If I'm not there, Justin will be. He's the one organizing the event. We're both volunteer staff at the museum, so regular staff there should know us and point you in the right direction. :)

On Saturday and Sunday I'll either be with the F-84F's in the center of the ramp or with the flight simulator inside the terminal building on the second floor main area.

Here is a link to a few panoramas I took Saturday with my phone. All my detail cockpit photos are on my Canon t2i. I can't upload them to a gallery until I get my main rig back from running a sim at the event Sunday night but I thought I'd post these first.

To view the full 180 degree panoramas click on each photo in the gallery to expand them. :)

Had a great time! Hopefully we can put together some sort of LAN meet in the spring....

I may add a few pics later.

Both the KC-135 and the FedEx 727 cargo areas would make great lan party rooms. I'll be on Justin to do at least one for next show. I was thinking one aircraft LAN for DCS World and one for Falcon BMS because of all the Viperpit guys that came.
