Hawat3001 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) How to change the maximum FOV: Before edit lua file do a backup of the full directory C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\tech\CombinedArms\Cockpit\ Open these file located on C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\tech\CombinedArms\Cockpit\ - genericAAA.lua - genericIR.lua - genericMissile.lua - genericMissileAT.lua - genericTank.lua Change the lines: normalFOV= x maxFOV = y normalFOV = 3x maxFOV = 3y Example in geneicIR.lua normalFOV = 140 maxFOV =21 Very important: During gameplay in cockpit, you will see the default FOV, you must click the RIGHT mouse button to enable the fov change. PeterP Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 But... I ran into a problem. The mouse cursor is not working correctly on the main head. I can't click buttons in certain portions of the screen. The cursor changes shape and after some tests it turned out I had displaced desktop icons. On the second head the cursor works as it should. You must have switched on "desktop magnification/scaling" (or similar naming) in windows properties. Switch this off! 1
PhoenixBvo Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) Aha, will try to find this setting as soon as I get home. Thanks for the reply. Edit: Would you, perchance, happen to know the term in the German Windows 7 version? PeterP Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 No - to much of a hassle to switch languages for me in my win7 install - but google gave me this link for the search phrase "desktop scaling win 7" DPI Display Size Settings - Change - Windo This instruction should be more than sufficient for you to isolate the culprit. ;)Maybe you should bookmark this link: https://www.google.com ... can be very useful sometimes ... ;)
AceKng1 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 OK, so I tried SoftTH after reading it's readme and Peter's very helpful posts about it. It sounded very promising and the setup seemed pretty easy. But... I ran into a problem. The mouse cursor is not working correctly on the main head. I can't click buttons in certain portions of the screen. The cursor changes shape and after some tests it turned out I had displaced desktop icons. On the second head the cursor works as it should. I did a forum search and couldn't find any similar reports. So I'm posting the problem here as it still concerns the workaround for the multimonitor problem which this thread discusses. Hi PhoenixBvo, I don't know if your problem with SoftTH is the same as couple of us were having in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=91240 We were also not able to click on parts of the screen, namely the left and top. If it is we were able to find a solution in this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=91240&page=3 Hope this works for you too!
PhoenixBvo Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Thanks PeterP and AceKng1, I got it to work by selecting the Windows Classic Theme. The DPI scaling was not the issue, it has always been 100% (96 dpi). But I'll try point 3 from the post below, because switching themes isn't a very elegant solution. I will post again to report the result. I have fixed the error! I did several things so not sure which particular step or combo of steps fixed it but this is what I did: 1. First, I unchecked the "Use Windows XP style DPI scaling" in the custom DPI settings and rebooted. I tried a mission after doing this and the problem was still there. However, I did not change it back and so don't know if this plays a part. I also made sure the scale was on 100%. 2. In my config.SoftTHconfig I added the line "enableVBQuirk=1" under the debug section. 3. I set keepComposition to 1 in the main section of the config.SoftTHconfig. I feel like this may be the root of the problem as it was still disabling aero even though the setting was unchecked in DCS:World. Steps 2 and 3 I found by following PeterP's SoftTH news thread here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71710 Thank you so much PeterP! You are a huge help to many people on this forum, especially everyone working with multiple monitors/SoftTH. One more issue has come up though: I can't get anti aliasing to work. Either setting it in the sim, forcing it in catalyst control center or in SoftTH hasn't helped so far. PhoenixBvo Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Success! At first, just setting keepComposition to 1 didn't help (Aero Theme on). But then I unchecked the "disable aero" option in the sim and together this fixed the cursor problem. It also turned out that the AA works with my setup only when I disable any forcing (in CCC and config.SoftTHconfig) and enable the MSAA and TSSAA options. Before, I used to set AA in CCC and leave the in-game options turned off. This had been faster, but with the full screen mode enabled everything is different anyway. One thing I really like now is that I can have my secondary monitor on the left again, i.e. where it is physically, such that the map and mouse and windows desktop are all in the right place again. (DCS natively does not allow negative coordinates for viewports and it always has the origin at the top left corner of the primary monitor.) The setup as I have it now still doesn't solve the HUD and map FOV problem though. I can use [Appkey]+S to squash to one screen, but this distorts everything including the viewport and map. We still need a fix from ED for setting proper aspect ratios and positions of the various HUDs and the map. I will continue to use SoftTH for its performance increase and independence of windows monitor config. Skoop Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) I have found the solution for HUD and FOV. Open iinfo.lua located in: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\tech\CombinedArms\Cockpit Change the last line dedicated_viewport = {LockOn_Options.screen.width/2,LockOn_Options.screen.height/2*aspect,LockOn_Options.screen.width/2,LockOn_Options.screen.height/2*aspect} by: dedicated_viewport = {singleMonitorWidth/2+singleMonitorWidth,singleMonitorHeight/2*aspect,singleMonitorWidth/2,singleMonitorHeight/2*aspect} Example (5760x1080 resolution): dedicated_viewport = {1920/2+1920,1080/2*aspect,1920/2,1080/2*aspect} Also I have found how to increase the fov, I have it working but I must to filter what of the files altered is the key It looks like this might be the answer to my problem, but not sure how to adjust it to my settings. I run dcs in windowed mode with 2 stacked monitors with a res of 1920 x 2280 aspect of 1. It works great for me flying but it's awful in CA. The weapon crosshairs are not aligned properly due to the HUD stretching so combat is terrible. Also when I use the right click weapon view the view is centered in the bezel of the 2 screens and still not aligned with the HUD aim point, which makes the sight useless. I wonder if this tweak would help ? Not sure what to adjust without breaking something. ron533 Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Sorry to necro this thread... Since I see there is no treatment by ED to CA with 3 monitors, what is the current way to get CA to work properly with 3 surround monitors and 1 extra monitor please? 6000x1200 (with bezel correction) I was not able to implement the last post instructions to fix this... thanks! vstolmech513 Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Multi-Monitor works in CA Talk about a necro... but, I have been messing around not willing to accept that you need such workarounds when the stock 3cameras lua works with CA and allows a centered bino view and gunner's view. I always defined my GUI in my monitor lua and after copying and pasting what the stock 3Cameras lua had, I finally got it to work with 4 screens, 3 wide and one below it where I export my MFDs. My overall resolution is 7680/1080 This was how I defined my GUI and MainView before: GUI = { x = 1920; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; } UIMainView = GUI Here is what the stock 3Cameras lua has, which is what I copied and pasted into my custom lua after deleting the GUI definition: UIMainView = Viewports.Center GU_MAIN_VIEWPORT = Viewports.Center I don't know if this is something that has changed recently but I haven't tried messing with this in years, only to find out I never tried the stock 3Cameras lua to see if it would work. Works well in both SP and MP (tested in current OB) as you can see in the below screenshots (only complaint is that in bino view the rest of the view is not blacked out):
