At the risk of repeating myself, it has been.

Ok then, why would you repeat something that isn't true? Fixed it's not if clients are still stuck with it. Something fixed just on a developers/testers machine is NOT fixed for a customer... is that so hard to comprehend?

The crash was tracked down to a bug in 3-rd party library, which was triggered by a long list of servers. Unfortunately we can't release a patch quickly.

Currently, I tweaked the master server to limit the list of servers to first 38 entries (seems to be a safe number) for a DCS version affected by the issue. Yes, it replaces everyone's crashing with some servers becoming invisible, but that's what we can do right now.

Please, post, if the issue occures once again, I'll lower the limit.

Thank you.

This thread started 3 months ago, and the only way its seems its going to be fixed is when ED releases a new product (fc3). Does this make sense?

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92610&page=17

post 162 asks a valid question pertaining to the way the ms was changed, and is also a link to another thread about the same problem.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92767

servers not showing on the list makes connect by ip a no go. no reply.

Viper keeps preaching patience but if fc3 comes out this month its over 3 1/2 months on some problems, and no replies on others. Unacceptable.

Also as mentioned before the forums need some cleaning up. old posts, duplicate threads, its all confusing, not to mention someone at ed informing us of a problem and then hoping another moderator will sticky it.. if you expect your customers to help with bug problems on the forums might not hurt to put some effort in.

p.s. this is not whinning, I am bringing more problems to your attetion :)

Releasing a patch for DCS World may or may not coincide with the release of FC3 - it is not a given.

I agree completely. It has also been confirmed that a patch could not be released quickly. What would one do? Cannot expect the impossible, hence the request for a wee bit of patience?

What else can one do? Reasonable expectations, that is.

How could it be AFTER FC3? That doesn't even make sense.

I could quote c0ff saying it wasnt an easy fix and would take some time to release a patch.

However im guessing that since the problem seems to be fixed in the devloper build you are assuming the problem will be fixed when world is updated for fc3?

Glass half-empty, eh?

Look at most of the latest patches we have gone thru ... quad 1, dcs world beta 1, 2, dcs world final, all had some significant problems and the responses from ED are either vague and contain as little information as possible or simply have no answer.

Im hoping the next patch will fill my glass up, but.....

FC3 is just a module.

DCS World will get updated and continue to be updated irrespective of whether modules are made available or not. Yes, the two may coincide (release of FC3 and DCS World update). It is however not a given.

Hopefully the auto-updater will go a long way to alleviating such issues. It's all a means to an end and us old timers understand that there is no quick-fix. These things take time.

Apologies, I thought you meant the next patch. I should have realised you were talking about when the Fix would arrive. Silly me. That said I don't know when either will arrive.

The auto updater will be a nice feature as long as ED doesnt push out a half finished product and then try fix it with auto update. I love alot of the features that Ed is working on but in the end, the same problems are still around. I realize Ed has to keep pushing out products to stay in buisness but in the end I still dont have an A-10 that I can fly in whatever enviroment that is without major bugs.

Im not trying to harp on Ed over and over there product is one of a kind and would be the best in class if they just ironed out the problems that have been holding it back for quite some time now.

In addition to pushing out products, ED has now finally delivered on what has been years in the making, ie a Core and Modular system. We have been waiting for years and years for this and now it's finally here. It has also taken all this time to integrate successfully, ie it has just not happened overnight and this has also came with it's set of problems, one being to juggle the amount of work needed to deliver on the promise of a modular system vs getting zero financial gain for attending to said promise.

So yes, there are problems which could in all probability by and large be attributed to the transition from the standalone to the modular design of the SIM - these are conveniently overlooked when dealing with a problem that is 3 months old vs the 5 or so odd years that it took us to finally get to the plan proposed 5 years ago, hence the need for patience.

Things get done, obviously not at a pace at which everyone is happy with. That's OK - cannot please everyone. Bottom-line is that it gets done in a time in which a reasonable person cannot argue is not reasonable.

Well I dont see how waiting months for the next patch to fix the ctd when droping cbu's is something that "a reasonable person cannot argue is not unreasonable."

These are the types of things that reasonable people expect not to even be a issue when a product is released. It makes you wonder if they never droped a bomb once before the pushed it out the door.

With that being said I have no problem with bugs and it taking time to fix them. I realize that 3 months doesnt put it up at the top of the list but in all fairness it should have been. Instead it takes something like 2 months just to find out ed is aware of the problem. Communication needs to improve considerably. If im left in the dark for months on end only to have some problems fixed and new ones arise whats the point.

Now with all this being said are you saying I should expect things to start getting ironed out? After all you do finally have the modular system that is where you wanted to go, and an auto updater that is hopefully used more than every few months, which im hoping will also be released soon.

As I mentioned in the post you locked down viper I cant see a reason to buy anything else while world is in its current state. If ED wants to make some money get it stable without the odd showstopping bugs and I would gladly buy just about any product that fits into world. Also patches to fix bugs that also create other bugs dont count imo. I would have been embarressed If I released a patch that ctd with cbu's. Yet stuff like this seems to be the half-norm.

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. In addition, I am requesting that whilst you wait, you exercise a wee bit of patience.

As for your intention to purchase, well that is subjective and completely up to you. No-one is forcing your hand.

Oh yes, before I forget: By the phrasing of your above reply one might infer that I am affiliated with TFC/ED in some capacity. To set the record straight, that is not the case: I am merely a customer and forum member such as yourself, albeit with moderation duties.

Ya can't please everyone, TRUE. But I think most companies aim to please the majority. People just want some info on what's going on. (Plans to fix bugs/problems, etc) Not just "when it's done","be patient", or "wait for the next patch". I can't think of anything that rubs a customer the wrong way more than those types of comments. Now I'll wait for a mod's defense about why it is the way it is around here

Im sure they have been burned before, but in the end this is only burning them more. What ever happened to patch notes? Keeping the community informed. Stickys that were upto date? If ed wants to know why people are getting pissed off how about the total lack of communication. You get one guy who says its not the master server but provides no other information and then finally a month later 3 lines are posted about the problem but its buried deep in a thread. If Ed expects customers to help reporting bugs and problems dont ignore them. Customer service cant get much worse imo.

Viper I realise that you cant make me spend my money, but the stupid part is I want too. The catch is I wont buy a pile of junk when I know what it is. If I were 3rd party developers I would be concerned as well.

As far as showing patience till the next patch... fine... but I have to say that nothing was being done about the problem until I got pissed enough to cc all the big wiggs and make a big stink about it in the forums. Then we got some information and the ball started rolling...

I'm with Mosley here. Poor business and customer service. I mean, I have faith that ED are trying to fix the problem, but why the silence? Hell, if EA or even BioFail have a problem with their servers, there's a sticky in the forum in about an hour or less with a status update, and that's from the business that won the golden poo.
