Is there nobody here with two nvidia graphics cards who could answer this?

I don't believe SLI works as of now. I have two 980, but one stays dormant. I'm hoping that with 2.0, SLI support will be there.

There are reports that *w/o* Rift in the picture, SLI seems to work with a lot of tinkering.

Num5 does not work on assignment to my Warthog for me and other people! as well!

Ah. That's a different problem than "Num5 doesn't work" I've never tried mapping Num5 so I can't help you there.

Thanks. I've been told elsewhere that the gameworksVR and liquidVR APIs are not implemented in DCS. I got no indication that they will be in the near future. Your experience confirms that. It looks like a good single card will be the way to go.

Joy2Key works nicely to remap a button to KP5 for purposes of recentering your VR view. I use it and it works.

Shouldn't that be KeyToJoy? LOL. Thanks. I've been meaning to do this for some time.

It's JoyToKey:

Works well. SVMapper will work with devices having greater than 32 buttons but I have not specifically tested it with DCS (though I'd assume it works).

I was just joking. You're mapping keyboard to joystick, it should be called KeyToJoy! :)

Thanks for the tip, already downloaded.

or VRtoJoy now that it's possible to easily reset the VR in DCS :pilotfly:The three remappers I recommend are Joy2Key, SVMApper and Xpadder.

- Make font size larger for text msg.

- Make text/msg "background" less transparent.

- Make text color green (read somewhere green contains pixels and are easier to read)

I'm using an existing mod for this and it does the job really well.We could tweak it for VR and of course we could make it it green. You are right that green has twice the pixel resolution in the DK2 but I think to get sharper text in this way would have to be directly supported by DCS.

- Move "controller input" window away from corner.*

- Move "AI gunner commands" window away from corner.*

- Move "Sling load camera" window away from corner.*

Great ideas and easy to do although they are module specific. You obviously love the Huey.

- Labels shorter to help with spotting but not covering multiple targets.

Great idea. Should we just give up on names?

- Suitable ground texture pack to help spotting targets in TV/TGP.

All my tests so far have been for the outside world. I haven't had a problem with the MFD because I just move my head closer. An MFD mod could be done but I would turn to it last.

Thanks for the feedback Salsam, I'll make a post in MODS soon with a test version for people to try. Out of interest what video card to you have?

I think helicopters, right now, really shines :-)

Before my computer crash I had both a good labels mod and mod moving the controller window but sadly the they disappeared :-(

Love the idea of an "easy to use, all in one DK2 mod" and are happy to help - even if I lack the skill :-P

I currently have a MSi GeForce 970ti GPU, but saving up for SLI for Christmas ;-)

As it stands now Sli will be of no benefit for the rift with DCS. Just so you know. Perhaps you want it for other games.

What is needed are fully interactive ("clickable") cockpits for all the planes that do not have them currently.

can somebody post NVIDIA Control panel settings + driver version?

It seems I'm limited to 50fps per eye while in 3D (it's like a cap, I used to have 75fps in first Beta release), main menu I get still 75.

Anyway, what control panel settings do you use?

:pilotfly:

Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pedals, Oculus Rift

LuSi, I doubt it's cap. It could be that you have adaptive VSYNC on but again I doubt that is what is going on.

The framerate shown in DCS now goes up in steps. 37,50,62,75. In the first release it went up in steps from 75 to 150. In the first release, DCS was showing you the combined framerate for both eyes.

If it was showing you 75 in the first release then it means you were only getting 37 which is quite bad. You would have been seeing a lot of judder which is a poor VR experience. You need a constant 75fps for each eye to get a good VR experience in DCS.

===

So how to get a constant 75fps per eye?

First you must be realistic. You can have settings that give you a good result but then you might load a mission or a certain module that ruins your framerate. Some parts of the map are hard for VR and some cockpits are hard for VR too. All you can do is turn down your settings until you get 75fps most of the time ... sometimes it will still drop to 50 even with a Titan.

At least I found out via testing which are the important settings

First there are two settings that you should set high no matter what.

TEXTURES: HIGH (need high to be able to read gauges)

MSAA: 2x (need to use AA to improve experience, 2x is the best setting IMO)

It is not worth setting these low unless you have a really low powered video card.

Next are settings that affect fps (ranked in order of importance).

SHADOWS: OFF (makes a huge difference)

VISIB RANGE: LOW (makes a huge difference ... more detail in future post)

WATER: LOW (makes a difference)

TERRAIN TEXTURES: LOW (can make a difference)

TREES: 0 (set this in in options.lua. Trees are their own topic in VR)

CIV TRAFFIC: OFF (if you must have traffic set to LOW)

Settings that affect fps but only in external view

DOF: BOKEH (do you need fps when taking external screenshots?)

Settings that don't really affect fps

HDR: ON/OFF (doesn't affect fps)

LENS FX: (doesn't affect fps)

Note: setting VISIB RANGE doesn't just change the distance things pop up ... it actually loads different sets of scenery. LOW setting doesn't load Forests. Forests are the worst thing for framerate in VR. If you want to have a longer viewing distance WITHOUT forests you need to edit LUA files. I am working on a mod that does this ... more details later.

Hope this can help.

These setting give me 75fps most of the time.

===

Right now I am working on custom settings VR mod to let me have higher view distance for buildings, roads and rivers. The mod will also gets rid of forests because forests totally KILL the framerate.

This VR mod mixes some the scenery from VISIB RANGE:LOW with some of the scenery from VISIB RANGE:HIGH so that there will be a smaller amount of buildings and trees but they will render out to slightly longer distances. It also tweaks the blending so that it looks good on VR and reduces popping.

I had a setting that I really liked but it turns out that some parts of the map are just REALLY tough in VR. Maybe it is just better set everything very LOW and enjoy the consistent smoothness. Will keep testing and post mod details in a future post so other people can work on their own approach.

Thx! in first 1.5 release I got 151 FPS (combined)

what NVidia driver do you use? Can you do some screenshots of NV control panel?

or has anyone else of you have an idea or maybe even a link for information about it?

Thanks in advance

Dude. I've been looking for that answer for a while now but can't really get anything definitive.

Where did you see this?

Thanks BTW.

By the sounds of thing I don't think the rift is going to work well over Vegas. I haven't heard of anyone getting 140FPS yet. I've seen people mention 60Fps and dropping to 30fps at times.

It's pretty clear if you read the Nvidia information releases on Gameworks VR, available on their site.

Confirmed by plenty of people on Reddit

Got it. Thanks for the reference. We can only hope they have serious plans to integrate this in the future given the increased popularity of VR tech.

When someone gets the new update going, post how it works with the rift please :) I am still a long way off getting the base software let alone NTTR. Been going for over 8 hours and a way to go before I even start to get the new map..

I have only a 780 OC. I manage 75fps in the desert but I drop to 40's -50's in Vegas.

I just won a 980Ti on e-bay so hopefully I can get to 75FPS when it arrives.

EDIT: Even on minimum settings it looks fantastic in the DK2

The Nevada map is really excellent (even on low as Frusheen has stated). It's a crusher on the Oculus, sadly. ED really should apply their talent towards implementing Asynchronous Time Warp and other optimizations for VR users.
