I don't think its a monitor issue ;)

The problem with folks posting their settings is that they'll only work as a rough guide, because there're NO two systems out there sharing the exact same HW & SW characteristics anyway. And thus you'll always have to tweak the original settings to suit your particular environment regardless ;)

Not that I disapprove of sharing configs per se, mind you. Quite the contrary actually, because it's always good to see how peeps configure their simming computers...

thats because you are masking the high response, it only becomes apparent when in the low numbers

When running at 42 or more fps, it doesn't happen. I don't think its a monitor issue ;)

Totally agree with you, I did mention that settings may need to be tweaked in the origional post ;)

Also turn off the High Performance Event Tmer in the Bios (HPET) Some manufacturers call it something different. There are plenty of articles out there on the subject. The HPET is responsible for stuttering in many games.

D3vastator, my brother, you deserve a kiss HAhAhaHAhaHA. Just joking, don´t take it serious.

ONLY NOW, AFTER YOUR BRILLIANT TWEAK I´am able to play DCS World with 60 FPS locked:joystick::joystick::joystick:

I just had to be careful with the AA and the AF (4x both), but my DCS World is running beautiful and smooth. 60 FPS man, I don't believe. Also, I changed the option of the Vsync to ON, instead of Adaptive so now I´m able to play with 60 FPS.

Your tweak is so simple, I've had tried everything here in ED Forums.

Thanks a lot mate.

And here we go to Flamming Cliffs 3 and DCS Mustang. HuuHuuul:joystick:

EDIT: We can put the GTX 660 Ti on the list.

Well, well, well, I got another little issue here guys...

After some happy flights with the Su25T, and some Reflys, the FPS suddenly dropped again:cry:

I've checked my Temps and they are fine, 55C at full load, and the VGA at 53Ce.

That´s what the people calls Memory Leak? 8Gb are not enough for playing DCS World?:noexpression:

are these pics with your settings or mine?

the images look nothing like the quality that mine have, have a look at my attached images on first post of this thread.

I can clearly see jaggy aa on the plane, terrain does not look like mine either..

no jaggy AA this end

I'm running HDR Normal your posted settings indicate you are running HDR Cold Colours

My settings are the shots, whilst yours this end look soft and misty like they were taken from a dream sequence

@ GriffonBR

A memory leak is indicated after running the same mission several times in a row and crashes or wierd things happen, usually not related to FPS drops. If you are running a 680, it could indicate you have a bad card.

Curious as to how you were able to have anisotropic sample optimization -on with Texture filtering quality set to - High Quality. On mine i cant have it on while filtering quality is set to High Quality.

It can be set to OFF or ON with HQ selected

Curious to try out your settings, D3vastator. Thanks for sharing!

One question though; why don't you use Tripple Buffering when using VSync?

Also, I feel tree shadows have a severe impact on performance so I leave them off. I can set the tree slider to 10km. It's a good balance between visibility/pop-ins and performance.

Haaa, please... I have this problem only with DCS World, and I have a bad card? I also play Flaming Cliffs 2 (High settings), IL-2 with heavy visual mods, even ARMA II with ACE2 (High settings too). And do you have guts to say that my new VGA is defective? Come on! It's too easy to anyone say that kind of thing "Your VGA have a problem, bla, bla, bla..."

And I have a MSI GTX 660 Ti PE OC.

A memory leak is indicated after running the same mission several times in a row

That´s the situation, I was playing the same mission over and over again (landing practice and testing my HOTAS controls), and after 5 times in the same mission, the FPS suddenly dropped. I do this in other games with no problems.

Also, I've found her a lot of other guys with the same symptoms. No one got a single return from ED.

My VGA? Definitely not, sir.

Use windows task manager to monitor memor usage, if it shows memory usage jut keeps going up you do have memory leak somehow, I had this while back in older version of FC2 and had memory leak with ovecast weather (took me while to find it back then)

No, I remember from my squad mates, only I had game crashes because of this memory leak. maybe others had it too but I don't remember reading posts about it. Anyway, it's past so who cares now :)

Guys, it's just DCS World that gives me such headache.

So what is the deal? Put more memory in my system? I can inject more 8GB today.

What headache, didn't you just post before you can play DCS now at 60fps? Bigest mistake people make with DCS is, they use 16xQ AA in settings, this will reduce fps quite a lot even on fastest video cards (assumed you don't run really low resolution, but who does that these days anyway)

Man, I was very pleased flying arround with my Su25T after Devastator´s tweak, I´m not using 16xQ AA neither 16xQ AF, It´s 4x for both, I do know that I can´t rape my GTX 660 Ti with all these settings, but I do know that theres some kind of issue with DCS World that after a couple of missions, the FPS starts to drop after a refly or in the next mission. If you look here in the forum you will see people with the same words.

I´am not doing any mistake and my hardware are not defective.

There are fps issues with some towns, which may also be the culprit... this is a known.

let us know how you go with Heaven 3 (its a benchmark and a really nice one at the that)

I'd like to see those screenshots with the frame rate stats in the top left. ;)

By the way - the performance situation with FSX is completely different - you can't compare them in any way.

each system needs needs to be tuned differently, so of coarse people will need to alter the settings but the purpose of my tweaks was to give people a headstart and the general area they need to be.

you will get fps drop when you are near a city or flying low in a town, that is the way the game is coded, for this reason this is why I lock my fps to 30 so it never changes. this will not work for everyone though each setup/hardware reacts different to tweaks. I do not suffer from any effects that others are getting eg image delays on terrain etc with setting adaptive vysnc @ 30.. this is most likely due to my hardware and monitor, the benq xl2420 is a extremly fast response monitor.

@ GriffonBR you could try a fps limiter, if you are getting 60 you should be able to tune in a constant 45 and lock it there. in my opinion you need to be able to find that spot where you can lock and not to have to worry about fluctuating fps.

must look into this, not heard of it before..

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried enabling HPET and tweaking Win7 correspondingly? I haven't had a chance to play DCS in a couple of weeks, but when I can, I'll be giving this a shot to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks for this, while I thought my DCS world ran well, Im still getting the odd micro stutter. I'll try these settings and see what happens. Thanks

Off topic, you say you have managed to optimise FSX at 30fps as well. Any chance of PM'ing me those settings, currently have it running at 20fps with PMDG 737 ngx at LHR, but would prefere 30fps plus. Only difference is I am running at 5670 x 1080, but at least these settings would give me a great base to start from.
