I'm picking DCS (primarily A-10C and P-51D) up after some months off. I updated everything from a clean state and need to reset a couple of my controls.

I'm using the TM Warthog and like having the zoom axis assigned to the dummy friction slider axis. I can't for figure out which axis this is though. Under the menu to assign an axis in the controls setup, I've got about 15 axes. In the Windows controller, this just registers as "slider".

Can someone help me figure this out?

Q: How to Identify Joystick/Throttle Axis in Game?

A: The simplest way is to move the axis that you would like to assign to a function from 0 to 100 percent until it get recognized in the assignment window.

DCS In-Game > Options > Controls > Module of choice : Axis Commands > click on function > click on Axis Assign > Move axis until it gets recognized.

Well, I don't know why I am stupid, but I am...I tried this several times and for some reason wasn't getting any axis recognized. Of course, I went back and it worked just fine now. No idea why that didn't work the first time I tried it before posting.

You're not :)

Sometimes you move them and it does not register. Need to move the axi all the way through it's entire range of movement and then back again, sometimes more.

Yup, can confirm that.

After a complete new setup i wanted to re-assign my controllers. The Cougar was no problem but the rudder did not respond.

Me going through all the connections, did find nothing wrong. Re-tried and... hopla...

The 'and back' part is almost always needed, at least with my Warthog and Saitek pedals.

I had the same issue with my pedals as well. I probably spent two hours trying different things before going back and trying again. Then they worked fine, just didn't do the full motion.
