Heavies in action: Tu-22M, Tu-160 and Tu-95MS dropping bombs and cruise missiles at ISIS targets in Syria.

Two questions for those in the know: any info on which airbase(s) the bombers are using, and is it me or those are single-seat Sukhois escorting them (either -27 or -35)?

More than half of footage in this video are completely old and irrelivant to Syrian war.

Thanks for the heads-up, sorry for the blunder.

Some information from the MinObRF to compensate :D

In summary, they are adding 5 Tu-160, 6 Tu-95MS, 14 Tu-22M3, 8 Su-34 and 4 Su-27SM to the operation. Although the actual information is obscured, it probably says from the territory of the Russian Federation.

Official information asides, the buzz goes that at least some of the aircraft are based at Mozdok, and that some of the attacks were conducted using Kh-55 cruise missiles.

What SU-25T? non in that video. Nothing coming from nose tire, there was a reflection on the ground from a light, maybe taxi light on wing tips.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

I've been reading around several reliable websites that the missiles employed were kh-555, that would be the last version of the AS-15 that entered service around 2008. Some sources have cited the usage of the kh-101 as well, deployed from the TU-160.

About the origin of these missions, they depart from bases inside the Russian Federation, from what I get, these assets have been assigned to the operation in Syria to augment the power of the in-theatre forces (I believe that currently it is not possible to send more aircraft to Syria as just a few airbases are operational).

Another thing of note, though not directly related to aviation, is that the cruise strikes performed by the black sea fleet in the mediterranean have been launched by an attack submarine
