Combat sorties of the long-range aviation of the Russian Air Force against terrorists in Syria. Note an escort of F-14 “Persian Cats”.

Which video was that in?

I missed it too, but there are indeed Iranian F-14 (I also missed the text above the video...)

Excellent video, @whitehot! I wish ED would step up our Su-25 to the one shown in that video. Interesting cockpit elements shown there, for sure. Also interesting to see is the actual speed during attack runs.

Yeah, I wish it too. Considering that the base Frogfoot we have is the 70ies version and the T-Frog is not in service, this model would be very refreshing. Wouldn't mind if some external dev like Belsimtek or LN did it..:)

Agreed!

ED should simply merge the 25A and 25T, instead of maintaining both. By merging, they can then also update the sensors/system accordingly. Sadly, the way ED is handling modules in general is by taking a snapshot that is frozen in time, without considering the constant upgrades that have happened since in the real world to keep these air frames current.

I do not think the video is from Syria, it was posted here long before Russian Air Force (BBCP) involvement in Syria.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

From the video's description:

Russia's Air Force conducted four days of rigorous testing on the Sukhoi SU-25SM3 fighter jet in Kuban between Monday and Thursday. Over 15 jets were involved in the training. The SU-25SM3 is the latest version of the SU-25 which has undergone major modifications to increase its combat effectiveness greatly.

Any navigation buff can identify what part of the map was it by looking at the landmarks? :D

damn. I assumed it was Syria because of the missile launches on what seem to be build-up areas.

One of the laser guide rockets or missiles. Maybe S-25L.

To me it looked like he was buddy lasing the target (1:28 ) because the missile seems to be far off the AC, but the pipper on his HUD is clearly on target

In the HUD you can see clear the mark Л and ЛД, so the Su is lasing the target and guiding the missile by itself. And the pipper is marking on top the distance and to the right time to impact.

Yeah, that was one of the first things I noticed!!! What the hell was that pilot doing?

I've already seen it in another Su-25 take-off video and thought it was just some oddity, but now it seems like some procedure. It is strange, because doing something like this in the sim would probably crash the aircraft and the flight manual also does not mention something like, do one stick whirlwind once airborne :joystick:

I think he has higher dead zones in his options :D
