Have you ever tried to avoid an Amraam ?

 

 

That's not the best way to survive. Just shot down the missile. :music_whistling:

 

 

DCS supports midair missile collision. I my case i assume the amraam proximity fuse detected the missile and then both goes boom.

 

The other day, I also shot down a A/G guided missile heading to me, with a Strela-1.

 

Check attached picture. :P

 

 

Besides this - what's your favorite tactics to avoid an amraam, beside ejecting your plane ? :smilewink:

Yeah i think i made a mistake. got some fever today - the worst is that i work for a US company and did a similar one the other day at the phone with my boss (when an excell sheet became the excell shit).

there's more than 1 way to break an amraam's lock so it misses, you just have to position yourself to do it. experienced pilots know this already.

But to some point is realistic,obviously the object has to pass quite close,but is good to know that

something like proximity fuzes works properly(well i don't know if in this case properly is the right word :))

Think of it this way ... proximity fuzes may have particular 'shapes' within which they can detect a target and those may let things slip through if they are small ... or, if you consider a laser or radio fuze with full coverage, they might require a minimal return on the echo with certain types of closure to function properly. Usually a missile won't detonate against another missile - that is, in case of the average AAM.

Oops, I did it again.

 

Again, that was against F15C with Amraams. Took me a few dozen of planes to reproduce totally accidentally.

 

dont get me wrong, i'm the worst pilot of that forum. To win against four fully loaded F15n it took me like 20 respawn :)
