RIPTIDE Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 The 104th server is an open server, always has been, that you can fly on with no need to jump on TS. The missions, whilst fun, are hardly complex, as the emphasis is on A2A engagements with each other. You will always get a reliable mission that has just 'slots' and a few benign triggers. Other missions are more complex with complex scripting, triggers, elements, tankers, JTACS, and other immersive elements. Ironically, nothing more complex than the sim is 'supposed' to be able to do. A few points on this, ol' pal. 1) JTAC slots we absolutely require Comms. (We have 2 slots on each 'side' with specific JTAC recon vehicles supplied in our current missions now.) 2) Depending on mission, the emphasis shifts. on our Op. Lermontov, there is huge emphasis on A2G with major A2G tasks-arcs being complimented by at least three sub tasks. You can either do it the hard way, or read the brief, use comms and do it the easy way, in other words. Other missions are more straight forward. 3) When we are satisfied with stability in future releases all the associated AI features, AWACS, EWR, Tankers etc will be reintroduced, as they were in previous FC2.0 revisions of the various missions. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SkateZilla Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 my dcs logs show right before the crash alot of EDOBJECT/DXRENDERER Errors for: trees (like 8 or 9 different meshes), crash on connect says they dont exist/couldnt open. Crash during gameplay says the bounding boxes for the same trees are invalid. Also got errors for loading JSmokeMaterial and other smoke materials, which is prolly another reason why the Wing Tip vapor isnt working , yada yada yada. I took another look this morning, all morning actually, at the collection of logs, no different than anyone else or ones already posted, hence the hoarding, and repetitive DX renderer errors and cache errors appearing all over. It's definitely pre-load erros and Mustang confirmed it for me one night (scratch that - early morning) when we spoke about setting / forcing scene rendering. Thanks. I guess that's the man upstairs telling me "less trying to fly online and more time working on projects." for me though, i dont like errors, ask my brother, I constantly check my system event viewer for errors, just to troubleshoot and fix any... teh amount of Missing / Cant Open / Error lines in the DCS log is kind of alarming. Wrecking Crew Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 It's so frustrating because we have a handful of missions that will run for many hours to completion and some of these have the most triggers and units of all our Firehouse missions. Then we have some really simple ones that crash. But dear, I don't accept to redesign any of my missions right only while ED has messed a new BUG in a new Vanillia. Quax - I sooo agree. Ripping out chunks of my missions is not going to happen either. From what I've seen I could rip the heart out of missions and there is no way to know if they really would be stable. We have Firehouse missions that will crash consistently within about 30 minutes, regardless it seems of the Client activity, so I will volunteer to upload one for DEV testing if requested. ENO Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Thunder seems to happen constantly within about 30 minutes- which I suspect lines up with the aircraft landing at Williams and possibly shutting down. It looked like the AI aircraft shutting down (in a hangar mentioned earlier) caused CTDs... and also in Roadkill I think when that second C130 is about it land, that also causes a crash. Roadkill has been a problem for awhile, and Thunder hasn't been stable since 1.1.1.1 I don't think... Interesting that AWACS is mentioned as an issue earlier as well... and Thunder has AWACs. Heli Shed Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 Difficult i know guys and i understand completely about not ripping ones mission apart to accommodate the somewhat increasing and ambiguous crashes, but stability, if thats what your after, almost demands it. Op Dynamo has been going for 4 hrs straight tonight, infact has done the full rounds - phase 1, re-run of Phase 2 and Phase 2, currently loading up phase 2 again. At one point, the server was full again, and the 'load mission' seems to be working fine. I guarantee tomorrow will be a different story and hardly anyone will be able to connect without the crash.. impossible to pinpoint apart from setting conditions that reduce the liklihood, in this case - pre-load. Good luck, stick with it, im sure they wont let us down. Personally, i woulda got a fix out sharpish and then concentrated on the next patch, but, we don't know what goes on behind the closed doors of ED. We're not having trouble keeping most of our missions running... crew has done a great job in making sure they're stable. There are a couple of missions that have stability problems- linked to well known issues. What we're having issues with is keeping people connected to the server. If I could get around that hurdle... Bin tankers, JTAC's and as much AI in the 'air' apart from Heli's as you can. with these settings we have seen a 75% increase in reliability of clients being able to 'connect' to our server. keeping them there? idle_timeout = 0 game_timeout = 0 as global entries in your network config will pretty much do that. ENO Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Eh guys- just checking in. Any other news in terms of work arounds or problem solving? I was on a server last night and had no issues- but can't connect to my own. I thought it was a DMZ issue but as I mentioned I had no trouble connecting with 7286- Not to ring around the rosey again- if there's no news there's no news... but I'm hoping for a fix sooner than later. I recall from another thread that the devs work monday-friday... so I take that to mean that we're at least monday before we get anything figured out. ENO Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Okay... well no idea what I've done but now my mission loads okay. Possibly had something to do with one of many network resets and patch applications over the last couple days but whatever it is I am now able to join up on my own server. I am currently testing out a mission with pretty substantial tanker support but by the looks of it things become sketchy once these tankers come off station and go out of service back at the base. The only difference I can imagine is that the tankers that were in the mission were on the ground- by the time I had a chance to join three had taken off. There are already others in the mission... When they already activ at mission start the client crashes and if it is late activated all connected clients will crash.... An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

I think tankers are the predominant issue... though I have been eliminating all those assets I've mentioned when I remember they're there. I'm at least minimizing the risk. I was finally able to get a squad member to connect to my server. Wait for it......................... I deleted the two KC135's in the mission. Not sure what about them is the issue but right now we are going to do some flying and later i can mess with the tankers to see if both of them are an issue.
