If you're a console lover, you'll not be disappointed.

If you're a sim lover (and keyboard+mouse prosumer) you will be disappointed ;)

 

The bad pointS :

First thing : It's Ubisoft. Aka Silent Hunter 5 (the Bugged Game )

Prepare to be robbed at some point.

2nd thing : It's Ubisoft (AGAIN!!) : After convicing your GF to play with you in split screen for the co-op campaign, you'll find that ubisoft "forgot" to implement this option in the PC version. :cry_2:

3rd thing : It's a console game for assisted people. Hardcore Mode == Easy mode for "us". And if you die too much... they're a problem with your mouse.

4th : Solo campaign extremely short (2h) or extremely long (and repetitive, i love "side quests, by Ubisoft").

5th : an end by Ubisoft. ("ohlala, it's wonderful, there's 2 ends !" LOL when you get there, LOL)

6th : LOL A.I.

7th : LOL tactics

8th : Multiplayer : Multi is Multi... same since Quake3. If you want true multi, i advise you Natural Selection II.

9th : You're lost ? don't worry, it's a console game. (look the white line under your feets, just follow it)

10th : Console interface. Horrible with a mouse. clicks x1000 to sell 1 thing.

11th : Unlocked Success ! lol, success, you've freed John Doe from being sold to slavers. But if you didn't done that, you can't finish the game anyway. Useless.

 

 

Now the good point :

1st : It has "not-so-bad" graphics... for console ;)

 

Trust me if you want to have fun (or challenge) wait for Arma3, or Misery 2.0 mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. call of pripyat (it's kinda DayZ with goals)

 

Or maybe i'm just a true console hater, since this platform stole the best games from computers, and changed it to dumb-arcade player.

If you proceed anyway, consider non-steam key. you can find it on http://www.g2play.net/store/

I've bought my copy at 15E ;) it's ubiplay, and you'll get some free bonuses with success (LOL bonuses anyway)

Well if you really liked far cry 2 (which i seem to be the only one) you wont like this one too much. It just feels like a lot of cool features mashed up while far cry 2 for me was a great experience all together.

To bump on that, I've just installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Soup mod

By now, it's awesome. The basis is a modified 'Narodnaya Soljanka' mod of SoC. I recommand.

Yep, I just tried now and the site seems have problems.

I copy-pasted the link from my Chrome browser itself at the time I wrote my post.

I don't find mirror of the site. I've downloaded their mod (I scanned it before because we never know, neither virus nor trojan found) and installed it. It's legit.

Sorry that the site is down.

 

Anyway, I've found a Steam forum thread discussing about the mod and the fact that the site is down.

 

I've no time now to read it but here is the link...

OMG

Cedaway, never heard about this mod. Can't seems to know what it's featuring.

ATM, for SoC, i have CompleteMod, mainly for graphics. (still at 30% of the story)

I saw 2 vids, but, it wasn't really clear, apart you have some extra stuff and 110kg inventory Oo ! can you help me on that?

 

Edit : Ok i gathered some infos around, but still weird. all maps merged, horror spawns, bugs and crashs ;) Should i finish SoC CS and CoP before trying this mod?

Stalker Soup takes the beginning of SoC (Shadows of Chernobyl) story with many many new 'stuffs', like the maps of SoC, Clear Sky and Call of Prypiat, other new maps (actually, those maps were abandoned during the dev of SoC due to lack of time to finalize)

Stalker Soup adds also tons of new weapons, ballistic corrected, new anomalies, new characters, s*itloads of new side-quests,...

 

So, should you play and end vanilla first?

It's on your own. I consider personnaly that stalker's (all the 3) are excellent.

Stalker Soup is also harder. Much harder. It's more in the line with survivability. I think it's preferable to finish the vanillas first.

 

For the crashed and bugs, I can't really tell. Stalker series is known for instability issues in general.

So far, I've about 15 hours in the mod and the only bug I had was at the beginning, the Sidorovich's door didn't wanted to open. (A quick google search gave me the answer).

 

(Just for fun, I googled Stalker Soup and I found a test made by rockpapershotgun Here is the (non exhaustive) list of modifications:

Not sure i will finish those games+mod before they release Survarium MMOFPS (which, if you think a little, HAS to be 100x better than WarZ. STALKER is the first FPS I know where you need to eat, sleep, drink, ... read 18+ natural reviews ;) )

Approximately 50% of my incomes are gone to taxes,... I think I pay enough tax. But (for those who don't know what is Belgium), those taxes serve to feed 3 governments in 1 country.

Info about tecnobacon server:

 

 

"The server company is working on it, site will go up and down several times today. The police trojan attacked the server through the installation video from toaster. Not his fault but the service he uses which I will not name here.

 

Since the site is on a VPS I have no ability to purge it myself so I have to wait on them to fix it.

I was able to log in long enough to shut it down so it is no longer a threat to anyone. I have no idea what will happen next but I am very concerned that it does not seem a priority of theirs, quess you have to be a 'platinum' member (???).

I have been a long customer of McFee but they STILL have not updated with a solution either, two out of three, what's next.

 

Also just heard that homeland security advises everyone to shut down java 7 immediately if you are running it.

 

I will try to get something going in the next few days but until then please share the repository link so that people will be able to get patch 109925 when it posts, really going to be worth it.

I will not post the patch until I am 100% satisfied that it is safe.

Still nothing this morning, why are there no decent server companies out there? I am paying one of the top rated companies for virtual VPS service and they don't even react to a virus threat!!!!!!

 

Are there any magicians out there that could start a virus/malware scan on a virtual server for me???

 

I have had all the systems and storage/backup devices scrubbed with vipre and AVG to insure that I have nothing here, all is cool.

 

It appears that I was very unlucky with my site and made the mistake of testing the toaster link while I was in my server control panel. The trojan is always following pipes and unfortunately it found an opening in mine through that panel. I was unaware as it did not infect my system as all pipes were protected from intrusion here. The other part of the gotcha was the fact that my site is a trusted site here so I was not getting the threat warning like eveeryone else.

 

I am going to put together a series of downloads to post 109930 on moddb in place of the torrent, it is slow because of the approval period for each file but at least it will get locked in at a good point.

I am still going to post 109925 in the repository soon, I will also post some documents that will start explaining the new core and how it works as many out there are frustrated with their own changes not working. You are going to be pleased with how much easier it will be to add your own mod to it while the core stays intact, I am even going to provide several dynamic info-portions that can be used in your mod WITHOUT BREAKING a users save even if they remove your mod and add a different one! The whole intention of a managed mod is to provide a stable non-changing base for users and moders that won't 'break the game' when you add it or remove it.

 

 

It's stated that a repo is currently being uploaded at moddb. But validation time is... time-consuming.

 

I'm still looking after repo mirror...

 

EDIT: I'm looking after a place where I can put my installation files backup but it's 13Gb (merged with last backup). And I don't find any free solution to host that much.

EDIT2: I've found: It's a cloud storage named 4sync It provides 15Gb for free. It's a dropbox like.

But you're right, we should raise taxes to atleast 75%, other countries are catching up on us and we'll soon not be the most taxed country in the world...would be a shame.
