Hey everyone! This is my first post and I already have questions. I am looking at buying a new computer to run DCS A-10c. I am not a computer guy but I have been reading about other computers and their specs. I found this barebones kit that looks pretty good

I just want to make sure when I spend $700 on a computer its going to run what I want to. Also what kind of hard drive would you suggest?

Thanks, Blake

Wrong Forum.

The Cheapest way is to do it yourself.

EVERY Online company will charge a substantial markup, assembly, burn in, and shipping costs,

ANd I doubt they even do burn in tests they claim.

Last time I bought a system from a building site it said it was in burn in process for 12 hours,

Yet when I got it, the total Uptime on the Chip and Ram were less than 3 hours (basically long enough to copy the windows syspreped install state. in fact they had left the wrong Serial # on my XP install too, as I was constantly being prompted, and when I finally went to check, the Number entered and the number on my Provided Certificate did not match.

1 month into owning it, the CPU went on vacation.

Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2),

With the exception of the Graphics card, the deal that you linked to looks pretty good for that money.

I concur with all of Skatezilla's advice.

Off hand I would advise you that 700 beans will get you something but do not make the mistake of believing it will be a top performer. It may run everything you need it to but it will be at varying degrees of performance relative to the money spent. Also buying a prebuilt is usually going to yield a higher price and a bit less performance then your own custom build.

Best of luck!

Looks pretty good overall, though I would prefer a 660Ti over a 650. Gives better margins for future as far as graphics go.

Intel,

Unless you do ALOT of Video Editing and need 8 Cores Cheap, There's nothing AMD has to match an i5 at price or performance.

Intel is the way to go. I bought my second computer from tigerdirect, the shipping was $300 bucks to Alaska. After that I never bought a computer from anyone else, I've built them myself for the past 9 years. Only computers I will buy are laptops and if i get 2 years use out of them I'm good with that.

An SSD is a must for the 7 series chipset, consider the Intel 520 180Gb, or higher

SSDs are like mechanical keyboards and TrackIR: you can do just fine without them and feel none the worse off for it - as long as you never try one. :)
