Why aren't there more air to air servers ?

Lack of Air to Air servers = Lack of DCS Fighters

FC3 is still in beta and a lot of people are bored, because FC3 is still similar to FC and FC2.

There is much more than 1 air to air server sir.

Sanch0 is not exactly right either, I also want to point out that he is speaking for himself (or a group of friends he flies with) when he says people are bored. Many people are in fact not bored at all and fly very often, right now as I type this post there are 22 people in the 104th Dedicated Server.

Lots of people are playing FC3 despite it being in BETA and having some bugs that still need worked out.

Try joining the 104th Dedicated Server for some Air to Air action or the 51st Squadron Dedicated server.

Both servers are near full pretty much every day and certainly at the weekend they will be full at peak times! You'll find these servers are populated with air to air pilots including air to ground pilots conducting sorties as well.

Where are those servers located ?

Both servers are located in the USA with a ping limit of 400. We have clients in our server from as far away as Australia and they can fly with no issues.

I know the 51st boys also have clients from Australia flying in their server and don't report any issues with ping.

Provided your not on the moon... you should be ok ;)

Ping won't save you in MP and it will not give you an edge over someone either, so don't listen to anyone who tells you it will. (unless your ping is 400+)

I see clients with pings in the 300 range gunning down people with a ping of 80 ... and the other way around too!

I just (as in less than a minute ago) got off the 51 server. A small 3v3 air battle was going on while A-10's did some ground attack. But as I left, some 51 members came in and joined the Red side in Flankers. Now would be a good time to get on the 51. I wish I didn't have to go.

Good server, i was just there !

Exchanged some shots with this "bob" dude, looking at the tac view and saw that he was shooting ER's at me from way far.

I thought they were R77's, so i started some zigzagging, and got some shots off as i came in range.

All WAY too early of course, as usual :D . His and mine.

I know he's a good pilot, so i wonder what his tactic was with shooting those ER's so early. Many people just turn around as they get shot, so that would also give him no kill .

Also i think his SU27 showed up as a "mig" on my RWR ? Is that a bug ?

Also totally missed an SU25 T hugging the ground, he almost went straight under me , didn't even see him. Quite bummed out about that

And one final thing, my track ir stops working in the middle of the game, then i have to restart it again . What gives

Man just had a great run

2 guys took off, so i followed them, we flew in formation for 10 minutes towards enemies .

Then one saw enemy on radar (enemy 12 -24) , so i'm thinking ,.. Could that mean 12 ' o clock , 24.000 feets ?

So i tune in radar , and guess what, it was ! I say "see him" , we all attack the poor guy, he didn't even evade , thank you TWS mode :)

Taihook and Comptonuuuh both hit him first, but i get the kill with my missile :)

Then, we see trails in the air, me and Tailhook both attack him, i kill him.

2 kills , then my computer crash as i return to base .

First time in FC3 i've ever had some sort of team thing going on, so excuse me if i sound like a little kid , but it was awesome .

Where are you from Lazarus? You can join us on our TS.

We are usualy at least 3 on each side on TS and cooperating against enemy.

Btw: I'm looking forward to have a stable group of peaple which could fly together and fight for victory...

Insert the cable directly to the USB on the back of your PC. Don't use USB hub.

I found the track ir problem .

It's kind of embarrassing but i was hitting "f9" by accident, it's the default pause button for track ir

My advice to new people or people that are bored with flying air - air only, join a squadron. Even if they aren't flying on one of more popular servers like 104th or 51st, they probably have their own mission going on. Those servers you see that are passworded are sometimes training flights for their own squadrons. Also find one that flies at the times that match yours.

I have just returned to flying after a 5 year gap. Rejoined the 51st and yes we were flying last night in a 3 ship in the 51st server. Being part of a good squadron, having Teamspeak 3 is an absolute must for online flying. Otherwise yes, I could see how it would get boring. Single ship, no TS3, lower SA. Easy target for a well coordinated squadron.

There are plenty of Air-2-Air server to choose from, starting from 104th, through 51st, WAR, RAF and so on....

It's set at "LAN" on my part. Ping is about 150 .

I haven't changed any files.

It's quite possible you're failing the Integrity Check on the 104th, we check for default files of the following

integrity_check = {

"Config/Weapons",

"Scripts/compile.lua",

"Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/CustomHuman.lua",

"Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/Damage.lua",

"Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/helicopter_exhaust.lua",

"Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/MechTiming.lua",

"Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/Pylons.lua",

"Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/AIControl.lua",

"Config/Export/Export.lua",

if any of these aren't stock files you'll fail the check and get a connection interupted, so if you're using something like TACVIEW or HELIOS you'll be blocked.

Tacview can be used for cheating as well. You could see live stream on 2nd monitor and thus have overview even without radar...

I am rather surprised that MP servers do not allow Helios and also that the integrity check is not providing any message to indicate the problem. Seems to be a detriment to the MP folks but...

No, with Tacview that is exactly what happens. You are after all exporting data as it happens, so to speak.
