IIRC, one of the rewards from DCS WWII stated a beta of 190D9 estimated to be out on Q1 2014. So I'm not anticipating any real news on the Dora until after the holiday season. They have shown us the eye candy with the cockpit renders and the model in DCS, so now comes the coding side (like what SithSpawn brought up). So we might be waiting until they are ready for beta before geting any additional news. Although I'll admit I'm hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised by some news prior to then. With all the Edge updates we've been getting though, I have to wonder if the guys at ED got tired of the "Whatever...now what about Edge?" comments and are going "Here you savages, here's your Edge updates!":D

From the DCS WW2 update it sounds like this is being actively worked on at the moment. Hoping for some beta release news in the next while. This is definitely the release I'm most looking forward too.

So, ah, any news maybe coming on this one? Poor Krupi will have a stroke if this beta doesn't arrive sometime soon...

:D

You can try that approach, but never worked for Red Foxx :)

Is there a FW-190 flyable mod, a f-18 flyable, and a l-39 flyable? I see ppl flying them online but I cant find them.

Another thing I noticed on the Fw 190 model - the distance between the MG 131 guns is too big. Personally I'm convinced of that, for me it's visible with the naked eye. However, here is my little demonstration attempt, as imperfect as it might be.

The real plane radiator cowling's diameter is 1100mm. My demonstration is based on the assumption that at least this important dimension is accurate on the model in DCS, anyway it doesn't look like it's too small. The distance between the MG 131 guns should be 308mm. According to my measurements in the picture below, the distance as is now is approx. 400mm. I have drawn also how close the guns should be.

While taking the screenshot used, I have tried as best as I could to minimize the errors. Anyway, the difference is too big to be put down on perspective errors.

been looking at this aswell and noticed the same.

Mainstay that pic has so many differences compared to the DCS Dora, not just the weapons distance. It is an artists rendition of a Dora. That said I,for some strange reason, always find the drawings of planes to look so much better. Its as if the artists adds little flares here and there and small tweaks that please the artist in me.I have two pics below that show the DCS artists rendition of the Dora compared to the artist who does those other renditions.Look at the cowling and notice all the bumps changes in thickness etc compared to the DCS model. Now which one is more true to life I have no idea.

Well if you are talking about the machine gun cowling there are about 6 versions each manufacturing plant had a different design... strange!

What we have modelled is a Werknummer 600 series production from the Kassel factory.

The one shown in the profile is a rather unusual Mimetall factory (Werknummer 500) design with a bulge added for good measure... :D

Did the spacing of the MG131s increase from what it was on the A-8?

A-8 is 260mm

Blue prints have it as 308mm as well.

Then this artist chose well. How hard is it for a modder to mod DCS models....just asking.:D

krupi, that is not what I was talking about. :) Not sure what it is called but I think it houses the radiator flaps.I am talking about the engine cover that goes all the way to the propeller. The DCS rendition shows an even surface from the radiator flaps to the propeller while the other pic shows that right before the propeller the cover bulges slightly.

I will look at the blue prints I have tonight but I think the issue is two fold. Firstly the bulge is less pronounced in the model than it is in the profiles you are looking at and secondly you are looking at the model when the radiator flaps are not fully lowered so it removes the bulges look somewhat.

Ahhh,if the flaps close a bit more than the bulge is more evident. That makes sense but I do not have the Dora yet so I cant check this.

Its not enough though.I dont know what it is about these drawings of vintage birds that always pleases my eye while I never get the same feeling in a sim.
