What is the HUD you see when moving your head? In the real plane. Is it helmet mounted?

nope, its enabled in OPTIONS menu as "mini HUD" acts as an aid in the game.

I dont think there's a helmet mounted sight on F-15C in FC3, I don't know if there is one on F15C in RL though...

If you leave "mini HUD" on, you will be able to see it in all the planes in FC, so its not a F15C-only thing.

It's a holdover from the older Lock On and FC series and is more of a 'gamey' feature. I suppose ED wanted to ease people into flying in 3D while looking over your virtual shoulder. You could think of it as helmet mounted, but that's not really true because FC simulates a time before that technology was widespread.

Personally I just turn it off. OPTIONS > GAMEPLAY > Uncheck "MINI-HUD"

RL, in it called Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) We dont have that in DCS, but you can look online and fine a lot of information. There are now new and different systems.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

..wished we had a 21st century F-15C instead.. but then ED might be forced to research and model the APG-63(v3) which albeit is still highly classified or so..

arent there only a few golden eagle F-15s in service anyway?

168 F-15C have JHMCS already installed. The rest of the Golden Eagle package (the radar, mostly) is supposed to be complete on 176 airframes by 2017. I haven't seen any publicly disclosed numbers on how many are already finished. Either way, I'm sure it's at least competitive (numerically) with how many Su35/ MiG35 are out there.

*edit* at least 18 received the full package by 2010.

well I'm sorry but you can usually figure out how it actually displays or simulate this.. if and by reasoning, you can deduce that the radar is a high resolution, and very clean display compared to the MiG 21's radar display. is exactly what we should be seeing, and with the new video of the ANPG* AESA I'm looking at this,

now we can at least simulate it..

think about the commercial weather radar not to far from that..
