IJammer Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hi Having recently started using DCS World and the A-10C with a TH-HOTAS Warthog... its time to invest in some pedals. I have looked at the Saitek Pro Combat Flight rudder pedals and they receive excellent reviews and seem to be of heavy duty part metal construction. Also of course the Thustmaster pedals are an option. I have a home built cockpit and the Saitek will fit inside. I would appreciate any thoughts and or recommendations on the above pedals for use with the DCS sim, A-10C and TH-HOTAS Warthog... i.e. will the Saitek work with the Warthog controller? :joystick: I have never used flight sim pedals before, having normally used a j/stick with a rudder twist stick... things are starting to get more serious :) Thanks for any help... IJammer
cichlidfan Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 The Saitek's will work just fine along with the Warthog. As for TM, the only thing they currently sell are auto racing pedals. joey45 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 didn't know TM made pedals... I know CH makes some. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Britchot Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I have a set of the Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals and I'm quite happy with them. I would definitely look for pedals that you can program a key to the toe brakes, DCS: A-10C doesn't need them but several others (to include the Su-25T in DCS: World) can use them. cichlidfan Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Thrustmaster or Saitek? Ha, why not both?! :) Is there an exterior shell for that? Where do your heels go? recoilfx Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 exterior shell? My heels rest on the plates that are directly attached to the pedals, while my arches rest on the pivots (the textured pipes). Very comfy. The whole set up turns much smoother than Saitek's base. You get a lot more travel distance so flying feels more accurate. Using UHID also means the pot outputs are no longer jittery (something inherent in all saitek boards).
cichlidfan Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I see. I was misinterpreting what I was looking at. I certainly wish TM still made flight pedals. My brother has their racing setup and the pedals are awesome!! IJammer Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 Thrustmaster or Saitek? Ha, why not both?! :) Aghhh, a hybrid... :noexpression: a UHID ? Is that a 'Hall effect sensor'? I know the Saitek only uses old style pots... but I figuered if the physical construction was good I could change the pots out for the Hall effect device's later... anyhow, ordered the Saitek so I should be getting control of the rudder now... its a bugger using 'X/Z' keys when landing :pilotfly: Thanks for all the advice guys.
recoilfx Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Do what I did! Purchase a set of Thrustmaster RCS (not the Elite version) pedals from eBay, and mod it. Metal construction, pretty solid feeling.
cichlidfan Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Even without being perfect, the Saitek pedals will make a huge difference over the keyboard. Enjoy. BHawthorne Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Thrustmaster or Saitek? Ha, why not both?! :) Definitely liking the Frankenpedals there. Does TARGET still see them plugged in through a Cougar?
recoilfx Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Nope, it's no longer a Thrustmaster or Saitek device. The pots are connected to U-HID Nano (a USB controller).
