RedRain Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 If the mission file includes the View files within it, then these view settings will be forced on the client connecting to the server. Please remove the view.lua files from miz file, so clients with eyefinity or large resolutions can fly without there chin pinned to the dash. Cheers Rotor 1
JG14_Smil Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Great find!! I ran in to this problem while serving a mission with my custom views. Now I can have my views back.
Sierra99 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Is this why I have lost all my snap views? Snap views of what? ajax Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 AFAIK, the only way for that file to get in the mission is if a track file is used as a mission file. The mission editor does not store it.
Grimes Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Or if its put in there manually. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. JG14_Smil Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 We need to find out why server controls views of clients then. This did happen to me. I'll check if this file is added to the offending mission. Only difference I had was an edited view.lua file. Could someone test to see if this gets added to a miz file if it is edited? It will be two more days before I have time to try.
JG14_Smil Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Is there a chance the "Use these settings in all missions" setting, if used by a server could have something to do with this?
RedRain Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 It only occurs on some servers (not all) in some missions (not all). When I have joined a server when this occurs, provided there Is a good admin in game, i have requested he visits the miz zip file/config folder/view folder/ and delete view. Lua, in this folder, it fixes the issue 100% of the time and with no detrimental effect. Please take a visit to your miz zip file's hosters and amend. Cheers
Slayer Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I believe it's caused by an option in the mission editor, if used it includes the view.lua . This has been discussed a few times before ~ I thought they changed it so it doesn't do that anymore. Could be old missions that were updated through different versions of the mission editor but I can't remember 100% and too lazy to look it up :P But yes deleting the view.lua out of the mission fixes it. ajax Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Confirmed. Even if "use these options for all missions" is selected in options, the Mission Editor does not save a view.lua file. So either the mission was extracted from a track file or, as Grimes rightly pointed out, it was manually placed there.
JG14_Smil Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 (edited) Ajax: Do you use an edited view.lua? You need to to reproduce the problem. I've never even looked at a track file. Edited March 16, 2013 by JG14_Smil
ajax Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Yes, I do. The custom neck pivot mod and custom snap views.
JG14_Smil Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 OK Thanks for all the help. Only last thing to check is to serve a mission to reproduce the steps for my issue, and I've done that, bit no one has connected to it yet. I've still seen no trace of a view.lua in the miz file. I've deleted the original mission that had the trouble.
ENO Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) Okay so if I read this correctly, if I unpack the missions and delete the view.lua file in there I will be helping the clients get the full benefit of their expanded systems and high resolution? I have gone into one particular mission and it does have a config folder in it, with a view subfolder... with view.lua inside. It also has "snapviews.lua" and "snapviewsdefault.lua" - and server.lua. I'm assuming that I shouldn't delete the whole folder... just the view.lua? Edited March 17, 2013 by ENO "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. ENO Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Thanks Peter. Out of the 20 or so missions I host at the Firehouse there was only 1 file that had the view folder. I'm not sure why- nor does it matter I suppose... but it was an older mission drafted around the 1.1.1.1 days or earlier. May be a common theme amongst missions that have this issue. HiJack Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 The views is saved in the mission file if you select the "prepare mission" menu in mission editor. Delete all folders inside the mission file and rezip it with normal compression and as zip then rename the file to .miz
JG14_Smil Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 :) Hijack nailed it! Prepare mission was the missing link.
ENO Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Another issue I've had with using the "prepare mission" is the dsms and stores. You can load weapons, but sometimes the dsms will not "load." First time I heard that, I just thought it was because people didn't know how to load it properly (used to warm starts or something). I had to go in and erase the dsms folder I believe it was... and suddenly it worked. I'm not sure how far reaching the prepare mission function is... but as a rule I Won't touch it anymore.
