What are you talking about?

I just posted a link to a video about the Su-27, there's no "bait".

If you don't have anything meaningful to say, don't post!

lol, take it easy my friend, my response was to nr1jc, who seems to have anticipated what was coming, coupled with my experience with other threads in the past that link to anything calling anything the best of anything.

Thanks for the video, always fun to see the aircraft, but the thread usually ends up ugly.

its a good documentary

and if you take it fighter as an aircarft that excels in WVR fighting the su-27 i guess you could call it teh bestest.

still the name is pretty pretentious.

still the documentary is better than any of the ones ive ever seen from discovery or national geographic, apart from that name its not that biased, now there are something which are strange and i dont know like mig-15,17s shooting down f-4s.

The music is pretty sweet too.

I watched all four parts before, and found it pretty interesting.

I don't know if it's the bestest fighter on erf, but it's a damn sexy plane.

I think it had the potential to be - and if it's radar had been on a par with the F-15's + the active radar R-27 / R-77 had made it into active service, it would have been ...

(no fault to Sukhoi there)

You can add whatever "BUT"s you want below.

Cheers.

This is exactly why I purposely left out the title of the video in the thread title and in my first post.

Furthermore, I was under the impression that the title of the show was not so much as to claim that the Su-27 is the best fighter as it was to say that the Su-27 was developed with the goal of becoming the best fighter.

A great platform for upgrades.

That's one of the things I found most interesting, how many variants there are. It gives the C-130 a run for the money in that department.

Expected some propaganda bullshit but I was wrong. It turned out to be one of the best aircraft documentaries I have seen! Watched all four parts. Thanks for sharing.

Wouldn't go so far as to call it bullshit, but definately propaganda when they completely avoid saying a test pilot died when one of them broke up during a test.

Still, though, a very interesting film. Thanks for sharing!

This.

Regardless. A truly great fighter. A great platform for upgrades.

And great looking as well.

And this.

Already seen this documentary some time ago. Of course every country in the world likes to talk about the highlights of their weaponry and remain silent about its flaws, but overall, it was a good film with many interesting facts to learn about this great and beautiful plane.

The airframe is truly awesome... with upgrades (as some have been made already) it does get all the way up there with best of the best.

Excellent series of Su docs, thanks for sharing.

Episode 3 was particularly good.

Also, the title is not as pretentious as you might think, they explain in the first episode that it was taken from the title of a chapter in a book. I find most Russian (especially Wings Of Russia) Docs way more humble than the drivel Discovery channel etc put out.

I've watched a bunch of their stuff... and aside from the odd Russia StRonG type script, fair respect and balance was often shown towards the "foreign analogues".

I thought it was a great documentary on the SU27. For anyone critical of the title. "The best fighter in the world" was what the designer intended to build. As such, the documentary used it as its title.

I learned more about it than any US documentary on US aircraft. Did they make a documentary on any other aircraft? It was worth the 3 hours to watch. Willing to watch more. A Mig21 would get my attention. Would love to learn more.
