Deadman Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Frank used dichroic glass to make the F-16 HUD work with a crt or a TFT disply cant remember witch so i would guess this HUD would function At what cost is any ones guess https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

MTFDarkEagle Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Looking good Frank! Any idea what your extension is going to cost? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
metalnwood Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I'd suggest there is more than an extension but sme addition or modification to the base to stiffen it up, that extension would be falling by itself to the seat if there wasn't.
frank Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Metalnwood - you are some how right - but not quite, it depends on the messurments and angles, but you have a point - if you move the stick to the seat it will not return to center on standard springs in TM base, never the less - when you fly this bird you need lose controls...... http://www.dcscockpit.com
metalnwood Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Hi Frank, I see, yes I am familiar with how it feels when I was playing around. I assumed for yours it wouldn't hold itself center with the offset of the stick because of the bend but I never experimented with any bend on mine. It's coming along well.
frank Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 stays in the center on standard springs - no problem.... more pic comming up in 15 hours ;) http://www.dcscockpit.com
Mnemonic Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I would buy a functional CDU, but the whole cockpit looks so awesome :)

MTFDarkEagle Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Frank, any idea what the WH extension is going to cost? Estimate? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
frank Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Estimate right now is 78 USD - and you have to be able to solder and extension on the wire yourself...... :book: http://www.dcscockpit.com
metalnwood Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Frank, it looks like the actual handle needs to be disassebled somehow to use the extension, i.e. it looks like the nut and connector usually on the handle has been removed and used at the bottom of the extension. Is this a reversable procedure?
frank Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 foam inlay put behind the frontpanel and the monitor... http://www.dcscockpit.com

hegykc Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Nice progress! But, if this is a commercial project, are you sure you can use DCS name... www.replikagear.com
TimeKilla Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Nice progress! But, if this is a commercial project, are you sure you can use DCS name... Interesting point. :joystick: YouTube :pilotfly: TimeKilla on Flight Sims over at YouTube.
cichlidfan Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 It is possible but I doubt ED has any specific rights to the letters 'DCS'. Otherwise Icontrol DCS would also have issues.
