Pilotasso Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Looks like a classic stall, what was the pilot doing? yikes! :( .
HOKUM52 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 it was carring military vehicles and apparently they shifted towards the rear on takeoff
IvanK Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 A stall but we need to discover what caused the Pitch up in the first place. Shifting load is a suspect ...If that is the case there is not a lot the pilots could have done about ... get outside the c of g range and thats it its all over... but like all these events not worth presuming to much until the investigation is complete.
badger66 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 it was carring military vehicles and apparently they shifted towards the rear on takeoff How do you apparently have access to that info ..... nothing in the wreckage would determine that ?
Cake Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 The crew apparently reported a load shift on the radio. 6700K@4.6 48Gb - 1080Ti Hybrid - Warthog - RIFT
Cake Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 From Aviation Herald: "Several observers on the ground reported the National Air Cargo Boeing 747-400 had just lifted off and was climbing through approximately 1200 feet when it's nose sharply rose, the aircraft appeared to have stalled and came down erupting in a blaze... According to a listener on frequency the crew reported the aircraft stalled due to a possible load shift." 6700K@4.6 48Gb - 1080Ti Hybrid - Warthog - RIFT
bradleyjs Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I saw a piece on the news saying they were carrying some IFVs (or something similar) to Dubai and they were guessing that they broke free of their hold-down chains and shifted rearward, thus causing the CG shift Alienware Area 51 R5 - Intel i9 7980XE (4.7 GHz), 32GB Dual Channel HyperX DDR4 XMP, Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Graphics 11GB GDDR5X SLI, 4.5 TB combo of SSDs/HDDs, Alienware 1500 Watt Multi-GPU Power Supply, Alienware 25” 240Hz Gaming Monitor, Alienware Pro Gaming Keyboard, TM HOTAS, TM Cougar F-16C MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, TrackIR5, Win10 Pro x64

basset Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 The author of this article believes what caused the accident was a CG shift and goes into some great detail explaining why. http://www.nycaviation.com/2013/05/national-air-flight-102-a-preliminary-report/#.UYRSK7Uqams [sIGPIC]http://www.jg53.com/images/sigs/general/sig1.png[/sIGPIC]
