Weltensegler Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Its true, the auto updater doesn't update by changing file content but overwriting files so whereever there are changes of course custom ones get lost. this time my controls were not affected though. But all my modifications for multi monitor stuff and display exports I have to copy in each time. And now that there were A10 changes I might have to see if I have to create new ones if there are changes to other functions in the same files...don't see how ED could prevent that though...that's just how it is. Only thing you can do is backing up your custom files etc and compare them to the new ones if change log indicates possible changes on those. 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274

mobias Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 wouldn't it eliminate all of these problems if Ed just made a proper 'my docs' folder that wouldn't be altered regardless of the file folder updates?? how hard would this be to accomplish? I've never seen a game that didn't do this, until now..... HiJack Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 A lot of changes to the keyboard bindings in this version makes it impossible (you loose the corrections) to copy back the once from 1.2.3. I use "ExamDiff Pro" and manually move in all previous changes in each file. Took me a couple of hours yesterday. But there are a lot of changes, don't loos them.

NoJoe Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 A lot of changes to the keyboard bindings in this version makes it impossible (you loose the corrections) to copy back the once from 1.2.3. I got slightly confused because when I used the Autoupdater I had the exact opposite problem: The autoupdater didn't overwrite any of my controls, so I was missing all the new keys for CA and FC3 (DCS was still using my old 1.2.3 keyboard.lua files). It took some head-scratching and another helpful forum user to get that one sorted. Is it expected that we manually have to go through and delete our old control files in Saved Games/DCS, even after using the Autoupdater? So Gigidang, I guess we should swap computers! :P You got what I wanted, and I got what you wanted! --NoJoe
Gigidang Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 C:\Users\<YOUR LOGIN>\Saved Games\DCS\ Is it that hard to find? Thanks, i know this location already, but didn't knew the reason for it. I saved my config file at the given location somewhere in the DCS World Folder. But when i load this Settings, i doesn't work. But I already read in a different post how to merge 1.2.3 and 1.2.4 input lua files. Thanks anyway. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
