I was working on a mission in 1.2.3 that involved F14s and FA18s launching from a carrier. Invariably, two of the four F14s would end up catapulting in the ocean, and really strange behavior would ensue for the aircraft after they returned to the carrier.

It seems both issues are fixed in 1.2.4. The airplanes even park themselves nicely. I was surprised, because I didn't see anything on this in the 1.2.4 release notes.

If there is an F-18 in the pipeline, things like this have to work one day. Nice to see some progress has been made already.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

All carrier capable aircraft have been able to park after landing on the carrier since LOMAC days :smilewink:

But in the prior release they would taxi in circles, dissecting the island, on and on and on.

Why do they always park on the stern of the ship at that angle?

That's a good question. As least they are semi out of the way. It would be cool if they were reloaded and then launched again, or put down below deck.

My results were simply from a mission that was broken and somehow fixed by 1.2.4 without me changing anything but adding my Huey to fly off from the deck. Strange the Huey seemed to move just a little on the deck before even adding any collective. I took off before drifting off.

They all park along the same line, so as the parking spaces fill up, the more recent planes will be towards the bow. They will start running into each other if you try to make too many planes land on the same carrier. It is for the sake of simplicity.

The slippery deck bug has been around for as long as I can remember, and it affects all DCS level aircraft on all ship decks. If the ship is not moving, the aircraft will not slide. Edited by VincentLaw
