So in this mission you'll be "Haulin' ass", in chopper pilot speak that means you'll be transporting troops. Things just might not be that simple though....

Music station on 40 FM (as always) Have fun.

Mission

If theres interest in missions like this I'll make more, longer, more in depth ones. Feel free to give me feedback, things I can add, do better, or tell me it sucks :) I love the video's of people playing.

We usually call it "herding cats". Then again our passengers are...well let's just call them "special".

Good to know, I'm just going off the book "Chickenhawk" i'm reading.

Excellent book, of course. I actually need to re-read it...it has been probably 25 years since I first read it.

Would recommend it to everybody flying the Huey. I was LOL when he was going through flight training, could totally relate.

Chickenhawk....great book, read it while in the Army in 84-85. Gonna need to check amazon for it. Love books like that. Some others, "Lest we Forget" and Mike Novosels book on dustoff. Great reads.

Completely forgot about Low Level Hell, and that was one of my faves. Actually got some hands on time on Miss Clawd IV while the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation borrowed it for some airshows.

And on the mission, keep these coming, I need the practice, but good mood music helps! Went a bit off reservation and just practiced some landings around the field. Still kind of coming in hot and sliding on the skids a bit. I am sure many crew chiefs got all butt hurt over that

Great mission, really enjoyed it ! Thank you !

I messed up the triggers a bit as I (don´t want to spoil to much for people not having flown it) did my job a little too fast before the grunts were ready to do theirs, but it all worked out well.

Keep ´em great missions coming ! I really love flying "ass ´n´ trash" !

Is this a SP or MP mission, it sounds great, I think if it is sp, ill add a couple of extra Hueys for the guys, and we will have some fun.

After picking up the troops and flown back to the airport should I activate a trigger, because nothing happens when landing at the airport. No message (thanks for the ride from the grunts:D) or something like that. Liked the music, by the way.

I'll have to take a look. I'm still learning triggers and stuff but I believe I put in a mission complete trigger.

Hi Wess,

In the briefing message at the beginning of the mission you state that the "ass" group broadcasts its position at 1750 ADF (I should be able to receive that signal just like a NDB signal, right, and the correct heading will be displayed on the ADF compass, right?). I can't receive their signal though, and I also don't see where in the mission file you set this up (probably just overlooking something).

No sorry that was my bad, I was going to have them broadcast a NDB for the player but decided that wasn't needed because you're just following the coast then you get popped smoke right off your nose. I'll edit that out. Thanks for reminding me.

**edit** should be fixed now.

Didn't understand the navigation stuff, back to the manual I guess xD

Other than that I liked the liberal use of smoke to mark what's going on.

Mission spoilers here:

Tbh a little more opposition would be nice, if only to justify the gigantic ammo load and to maybe mark the enemy a bit more, 4 pretty spreadout guys were hard to see on the background texture. Maybe consider adding another group of 4 and maybe 1 or 2 trucks?

Other than that maybe Include the little preflight text in the mission briefing, I forgot what it said and was a bit miffed not to find it in the briefing, had to really try hard to remember whether I should have been going north or south :P

Great mission, really loved the music radio :D

I cover basic VOR/ILS/FM navigation in my tutorial videos in the tutorial section. I did mean this as a light mission because everybodys getting the basic flying down. I agree though, all future missions will be more enemy intensive. As I get better with the ME i'll add more depth and options to my missions. thank you for the feedback.

Try my new "convoy escort" mission, should provide a little more challenging, as well as being a bit more self explaining so you don't have to keep looking at the briefing.

I'll check the videos now, the manual is making little sense to me hehe.

Great mission. However i got stuck after destroying the camp. No red smoke. Landed near grunts but they just stood there and did not get on the chopper
