112th_Rossi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I'm wondering if FC3 support will be deprecated after 12 months or so. I can see FC style modules being available for free for owners of FC3 in the future and the FC3 gracefully retired from the DCS World.

It's a introduction to jet fighters for a new simmer to just try out several aircrafts in a combat environment with online multiplayer capabilities. I'm pretty sure ED will keep up the compatibility with DCS World for a long time.
112th_Rossi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I doubt it'll get much love though apart from the occasional major bug fix. And if it really wants to attract new players the price has to drop, substantially. $49.99(!)
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Rossi, it's 50 dollars for a Su-27, MiG-29A, MiG-29G and MiG-29S, Su-25, Su-33, A-10A and F-15C pack, with 3 6DOF 3D cockpits, an existing AFM plus another AFM to come (A-10A). All of that plus the whole DCS: World package which will enhance your experience. Think how much you had to pay a few years ago for a simulator with this many different aircraft modelled with a fair attention to detail (even if not DCS-level) with such an environment to support it? It's a lot of money, but for a lot of features.
112th_Rossi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I understand, but it's still a lot for something thats meant to entice players. The first thing someone looks at is the price. I'm sure some have looked at the price tag and not read any further. Anyway, I still fail to understand where FC3 fits in the grand scheme of DCS World. It's been announced that the F15C and Su27 will both get AFM updates with individually downloadable modules for DCS World, so that immediately discounts two aircraft from the FC3 package. I can accept FC3 for what it is and as it stands it's a great package, but from the future announcements already made it seems that it is being pushed toward the margins by ED. Personally if FC3 didn't exist and ED offered a cheap download like they are planning to do, this would be infinitely preferable than a single 50 dollar download which offers a few basic aircraft. FC3 as it stands is a mish-mash of differing levels of aircraft. The MiG variants haven't been given the same love as some others and the 33 seems to have been largely ignored. If I were ED, I would drop FC3 completely and streamline the whole DCS World system so that it does away with FC3 and offer the individual aircraft separately. That way we know what to expect. 1
skouras Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 the F-15 and the SU27 will be probably an upgrade for FC3 and for those who don't wan't the whole package they can buy only those two aircraft as a module they plan to make them cklicable as well my thoughts is that they are gonna to make more upgrades to FC3 as you can imagine this is only what i believe from the updates that i have been read;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]W10(64bit)Asus Rog Strix Z370-F - i7 8700K - Dark Rock Pro 4 - 16 giga ram Corsair vengeance 3000 - MSI RTX 2070 Super - Asus Rog Phobeus soundcard - Z906 Surround speaker - Track ir5 - HOTAS Warthog
HiJack Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 .. a single 50 dollar download which offers a few basic aircraft.
rico Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 frankly, i would have preferred their human resource and effort to be spent on the new terrain engine currently, then on other new freaking aircraft.. seriously.. I'm really looking forward to a highly detailed F/A-18C...But an up-to-date graphic engine should be a 'Must' at least. Whatever...Good news though... Regards

Anyways, i hope they release them quick so they can focus on the real deal. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
Spectre_USA Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Thanks for the F18C information. One question about Nevada, can it be available this year, you know many people have been looking foward to it for a long time . Rather large +1. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] A tale of 2 hogs
Feuerfalke Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Anyway, I still fail to understand where FC3 fits in the grand scheme of DCS World. It's been announced that the F15C and Su27 will both get AFM updates with individually downloadable modules for DCS World, so that immediately discounts two aircraft from the FC3 package. You look at it from a long-year-customers point of view. With the F15C and the Su27 we get the 2 most-flown aircraft from the original LockOn and integrate them into DCS. That's double the work and cost for you. But you probably have Lock On, FC and then DCS. In this regard FC3 and this release seems a step back, but it isn't for everybody else: If new customers download the free DCS World-Version and see the F15C and Su27 as an easy-start-package, they are much more likely to buy them and get into flying, than making them buy LockOn on ebay and FC3. And honestly: this duel-package (if they will be both in one module) is exactly what most of the community asked for over and over again. On a personal note: I'm glad I can finally uninstall LockOn and FC. The SU25 is free anyways, I didn't fly the A-10A more than 5 Minutes since DCS: A-10C and I rarely flew something else than the F15C from the LockOn-Package. I doubt many avionics- and flight-model-specialists are also effects- and rendering-gurus. So just telling them to do this new job they've never done before, probably won't work out.
