Now that the community has told me how to properly handle and engine fire, DCS is going to give me some random practice!

Bird strike.

Some say the damage is over exaggerated in this game so have turned it down to 0%. Apparently bird strikes shouldn't be catostrophic like that...

I'd argue that if they're going to implement bird strikes, they should at least model the little buggers including feathers bloods and guts :D

Ohhhh! Interesting! Yeah, I would have like to have seen it at least. Even if it just despawned when it hits the fan, it would be nice to actually see, and possibly avoid a flock of Russian Geese! ;)

I say it's perfectly modeled... after all:

Looks realistic to me! :D

I agree. Then when I get bored I can GAU-8 a flock of seagulls. :joystick:

A bird strike can be catastrophic for single engine aircraft. Im no expert but you can find many bird strike vid on youtube and several of them result in a plane crash.

Wasn't there a post somewhere around here where a large bird got sucked into an A-10 engine and the pilot didn't even know it until after he landed and shut down the engines?

I remember hearing that. Can't remember who it was that posted that but I know I've heard it.

I think it's fair to have a bird cripple an engine, they often do. And most two engine craft can make it back to ground with one engine, so it's not like it's an instant "I have to ditch" situation. Personally, if this was really a bird strike, I think it was perfect in terms of how it damaged the aircraft.

Well if paulkriii says so....I stand corrected :P

You said 'can be' which is certainly true. The problems is that in the DCS model it is 'always', and that should not be the case.

They need to randomize whether you caught a sparrow or a pelican. ;)
