Foul Ole Ron Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Yes.. getting a bunch of new planes, a new map and a whole set of WW2 objects is definitely one step forward, two steps backward all because the devs want to break it out into two interchangable installs. Get a grip.
Nate--IRL-- Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 2 installs seems a waste, Better would be 2 branded sims within the one install, separate Icons for the WW2 and Modern. Installing DCS will get you DCS:WW2 and DCS:World icons. If only for appearance sake, which to me seems to be the only reason that this is being done, so it appears as separate software. zaelu Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I'm afraid I don't understand this thread side-tracking into a discussion about separating worlds or not. DCS: WWII will have what it looks to be a Normandy-like map ... is that a map "jet jockeys" would be interested in (as the default, only map)? Having two theaters/maps is being spoiled with choice in my opinion. And with 3rd party developers like Beczl offering WWII content for DCS: World I don't see the problem, as long as modules/content can be used in either map. Yes... We would like to play missions in a parallel history scenario in which USSR invade Europe and USA makes a second D Day invasion with A10As hunting Soviet tanks and Migs taking on F16s etc. How would we move DCS World (ED World) tanks and assets to DCS WW2 (Luthier World)? And what's with this attitude of "you had enough, we take the rest and you are out"?? We are here to play together this game not separate. And this discussion is very important. many of us here see history repeating. Pacific Fighters stand alone was a failure for online playing. DCS World War 2 can be marketed as stand alone... it can very well install DCS World assets at the same time and keep only the WW2 "themed UI" but it should stay one single core so new people after accommodate with it can see the other goodies. Also DCS WW2 will bring no incentive as a separate game to new people to buy ED DCS World modules... why would they? A10C in Normandy... absurd... isn't it? Double_D Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 One thing I found about here..is someone is always bitching about what they want...and not would be good for ED/DCS and the community... ED/DCS and 3rd party developers have enough of a time getting the product out let alone listen to every word of complaint out there.. You know they could always just say " Screw it! " and stop everything all together...so relax..if you don't like this or that..well don't buy it...no one is forcing you to purchase anything anywhere..you have the choice...... I for one like the direction ED/DCS and what the 3rd party developers are doing...I don't intend to maybe purchase every module that comes out .. but would consider what excites me the most... I would say thats my " Two Cents " but our government eliminated the penny..so this is my nickle worth...:music_whistling: [TABLE][/url][sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic89949_15.gif[/sIGPIC][/Table] Recruiting for Aerobatic Team/Fighter Group... Royraiden Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Seriously I feel the need to say this, a WW2 theater is not supposed to be aimed at the guys who usually fly jet aircraft.I think the WW2 air combat fans are going to appreciate the separation. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zaelu Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) @Double_D Our posts are not mandatory to be read by Developers , you know? So if they are busy they can simply not read. Some of us do buy eventually all the modules and see no point in splitting the game in 2. Seriously I feel the need to say this, a WW2 theater is not supposed to be aimed at the guys who usually fly jet aircraft.I think the WW2 air combat fans are going to appreciate the separation. There is no just black or white. It's mostly gray. What is Me262? Hans-Joachim Marseille Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 And what's with this attitude of "you had enough, we take the rest and you are out"?? We are here to play together this game not separate. Exactly my point. I can already sense the underlying sentiment of the jet community pointing fingers at ED for cutting into development time of their beloved F/A-18, etc. I'm interested in a WWII world, with a WWII look and feel to it and without getting blamed for getting in the way.

LOL....you just made my point more clearer...I have both jets/mustang/huey...current map is not accurate for WWII era..current map is though accurate to Middle europe theatre.. Me262...your kidding right..I think you should read up on your history lesson's my friend..it is the very first jet aircraft in the world...even though Germany were the creators of the war for many years they were way ahead in weapons developement... Yes you can have your opinions but it still works out to bitching about what you or anyone else is getting..with the fear like just mentioned in the thread they fear their beloved F/A 18 will be further delayed..forgetting that the WWII World is a 3rd party project..not DCS..so all their projects..will continue as planned..:music_whistling: [TABLE][/url][sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic89949_15.gif[/sIGPIC][/Table] Recruiting for Aerobatic Team/Fighter Group... There are jet jockeys, and there are WWII fans. Yet there are many of us who likes both and would like to have both in one package. The perfect solution would be to allow to merge both installs if needed or keep them separated if an user want that. The choice is always better.

People are voicing their opinions, and since they are potential paying customers, it's their holy right. As long as people do it in a civilized way (and I was kindly surprised with this thread), I don't see nothing wrong with that. After all, it will be us who will pay for their products. As for me, I really like the idea of optional separate installs. If you only want DCS WWII, or you have both, but don't want to be bothered by jets in your WWII install, have them installed separate. For the rest of us, an option to integrate both worlds into one install would be very welcome. Devs, please consider this option. I think many people here would be thankful.
HolyGrail_FxFactory Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Merging install is probably like asking IL-2 1946 to be merged with CloD :D I mean older jet version with new WWII version . I guess it ain't gonna happen :music_whistling: Cheers, HG [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.youtube.com/user/championfx

Well, your right, but in some ways of voicing opinions against certain things not to one's liking..is somewhat of bitching .. I guess I could've used some other way of saying that..like " Expressed Concern Against " project's not of my liking... I guess it ain't gonna happen :music_whistling: Cheers, HG No... Is rather like asking Pacific Fighters to be merged with Il-2 FB+ACE expansion pack. And it happened in "1946". As I said... we had with DCS some similar "scenario" with Il-2 Sturmovik and Il-2 Forgotten Battles. History should not be repeated if is not a good thing. PS CloD was merged with 1946 basically after almost all shiny graphical features were cut off by patches :) .
