PelicanPilot Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Hello, Since I really want this and I am not sure how many others do to because they don't really say I am just going to make a thread about it to see how many people want the same thing as me. Eagle Dynamics can you add the RAAF to DCS? I like Pi. :pilotfly: Go the RAAF!! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

OB1 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Aren't they just upside-down Canadians?:megalol: I see no reason why they can't. But is the current Australian air force strictly a defense force due to political reasons ? Also is the absence of aircraft carriers a result of this ? Thirdly does these political policies prevent the Australian air force from meddling in foreign affairs as it could be considered as offensive act ? Jebus full of questions I am today, but it is of genuine interest. How often does the Australian airforce operate outside of Aust ?

Jebus full of questions I am today, but it is of genuine interest. How often does the Australian airforce operate outside of Aust ? I think you are thinking of Japan. Unfortunately our defense force has been very much used as an offensive force. We have joined our American overlords, I mean allies in wars in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan as well as contributing to a few U.N. Peacekeeping missions (including the Cambodian UNTAC mission I served with). The RAAF have provided transport for most of these actions and our F-18s served in the second American-iraq war. Apart from that the RAAF participate in regular exercises with our Asian neighbors. I too would like to the RAAF in-game, but not until one of our aircraft models are modeled, which doesn't look like it is going to happen anytime soon unless Kinney can get the F-35 happening. As for NZ not having an airforce, what a great idea, I think Australia should halve it's offensive air capability and spend the money on aircraft that can help on humanitarian missions and disaster relief like a Caribou replacement and some water bombers.... OB1 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Unfortunately our defense force has been very much used as an offensive force. We have joined our American overlords  Love the way you put that. I too would like to the RAAF in-game, but not until one of our aircraft models are modeled, which doesn't look like it is going to happen anytime soon unless Kinney can get the F-35 happening. Apart from the 2 F-35's contracted isn't the Australian air force canning the rest of the orders of F-35's ? Have another Q: Since our craft do get used around the world and the Aust navy doesn't have carriers, how does the Aust air force transport the hornets? Fly them all over the world, pack them up in a box and ship them out or do they have a permanent garrison in the USAF ?
Rangi Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 We do have aerial refuelers, used to be the 707s and now the shiny new kc-30a (a330 with refuel gear, including booms that fall off in flight, think they have fixed them now). Have not heard about the F-35s being cancelled, but 40-50 should be plenty instead of the 75 odd planned. PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.
OB1 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 the shiny new kc-30a (a330 with refuel gear, including booms that fall off in flight, think they have fixed them now) Bwahaha, yeah remember reading about that, quite amusing.

aussieboy Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 The RAAF will be added to DCS soon.:pilotfly: I have a few new and updated skins ready to upload. - 75 Sqn Hornet - Complete redo of the 3 Sqn Hornets - 9 Sqn Huey "Bushranger" circa 1968 - RAN Huey, I gave it a gloss finish and it looks surprisingly nice. - 121 Sqn Huey, in the experimental Barracuda scheme - updated all my previously released Huey skins to the new mapping on the Belsimtek model. Added custom specular textures to most of Huey skins. Here's a few screens of what's to come
joey45 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Indeed the aussies should be on DCS along with quite a few other countries. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. aussieboy Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Indeed the aussies should be on DCS along with quite a few other countries. I'll help add new countries providing I can get accurate info for it. What countries would be most likely wanted? Strut and I are currently putting the final touches on New Zealand for our Kiwi buddies so I'm up for adding another one.

PelicanPilot Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 @aussieboy I put your RAAF logbook on my DCS a little while ago and it worked fine until I updated DCS then it stopped working. This is mostly why I want the RAAF to be official because the updates won't affect anything in a bad way. Is there a way to counter this problem so if I do put your logbook on again and update DCS then it will not stuff anything up? @ED what is the difference between the F/A-18A and the F/A-18C? I like Pi. :pilotfly: Go the RAAF!! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
