HELOUS Problems with latest patch

I seem to have a problem with not being able to get HELIOS and my profile to overlay when I start A10. It just drops to the back and wont work or cant be seen

HELIOS, DCS 1.2.6 and radio channel switches

 

Helios is making problems with channel switches on VHF and FM, since 1.2.6 on my end. Anyone else experiencing the similar issues?

 

I am unable to change the digit dials for single increments via HELIOS. One input swipe turns digit dials for about 5 increments.

 

UHF is working.

Hi,

 

My indication of FM and AM frequencies are off after 1.2.6. I am incrementing/decrementing radio frequencies via encoders so are only using Helios to show the frequencies.

 

When increasing/decreasing 1st frequency selector by one digit in the cockpit then information is sent so that Helios increment/decrement by two numbers, i.e. change frequency in cockpit from 12-13 will cause Helios to change from 18 to 20. However since 1st frequency selector has more than 10 different combinations you will not reach 18 in Helios when e.g incrementing 1st frequency seletor all the way up to 12 again (13-14-15-3-4-5....12) .

It seems like the game is sending wrong values as Helios was working prior to update 1.2.6

 

With regard to 2nd, 3rd and 4th frequency selector they show correctly

This could be a problem for a while. To my understanding there was some changes with the radio for multiplayer. Its probably going to be up to Gadroc to fix it but he hasn't posted anything in months.

I'm still around albeit less frequently. The VHF/AM switches/frequency read outs where complicated to extract. I'll have to look at behavior changes in the DCS export in 1.2.6. May not be able to get it sorted for a few days.

Gadroc, have you considered putting a charge on your work? I think what you have done is brilliant and would most certainly pay a small fee for updated work each time there is a patch or pay for updated profiles for different aircraft?

 

IMO Helios adds a great deal to DCS so how would you other guys feel about this?

With 1.2.6 controls of VHF radio are changed.

Before : rotary change value of itseft frequency.

Ex : 15x.xxx = 0.75 , for values of tens MHz.

So, before 1.2.6, to set from 140.000 to 150.000 MHz (direction is important between increase or decrease a sub frequency), we must send

DeviceID(55):performClickableAction( 3010, 0.75 )

We must know the current frequency to change it.

 

But 1.2.6 version did a revolution in VHF radios...

Now, to change a frequency, we don't need to know the current frequency.

Ex : to increase tens of MHz 140.000 to 150.000

DeviceID(55):performClickableAction( 3009, +0.01 )

Ex : to decrease tens of MHz 150.000 to 140.000

DeviceID(55):performClickableAction( 3010, -0.01 )

Note the button ID, first to increase, second to decrease. Now, it's different.

 

However, this doesn't work correctly.

With performClickableAction command, we can change the display of frequencies in DCS virtual cockpit, or perhaps Helios (I don't use Helios radios), or homepit (my case), but there is a problem :

What is displayed in the virtual cockpit isn't good. DCS software understands an another frequency. We must use the mouse to change frequencies (refresh one is enough) on VHF radio.

Let's wait for the next DCS version to have a reliable radios...

helios used to be payware but i think managing peoples expectations and other reasons made freeware a better option.

I was thinking along the lines of monetary motivation so we keep getting updates, the amount of official DCS updates is staggering in the last year.

i use helios w/ 1.2.7, only issue is the Radio Rotary knobs and for some reason when I try to Toggle the Anti-Collision Strobes in teh Cockpit the switch dont stick, but if i Use the Helios switch and drag it up it works fine, turning off helios also resolves issue with the 3D Cockpit Switch not sticking when clicked.

 

All in All, having a dedicated screen for MFDs/Gauges is well worth it.
