Radar Rider Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 My system is: i7 920 @3.8ghz with Bios uppdated Corsair H60 Ram 6gb at 1600 Gigabyte 560TIOC Direct X updated, with 1.2.6 installation Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits Power supply of 750W TrackIR 4 with drivers version 5 Warthog HOTAS Saitek Rudders NVidia drivers 320.49, not the last ones but it hasn't effect if I use olders or not. With 1.2.6 everytime I try to start a mission with A-10C, ot Kamov or everything my system shutdown when it loads and go into the cockpit. In that moment, or 1 second before I hear a noise in my power supply like overcharge and then shutdown. - with 1.2.4 same noise and shutdown - with 1.2.5 same noise but missions starts without problem and after some seconds the noise stops and again 1.2.6 same problem as with 1.2.4 So I can't fly anything until ED patches 1.2.6. There is something in DCSW that now overloads my system when go to cockpit. Not when I came as espectator! Just only the cockpits. It's not my graphic card problem. I can fly Cliffs od Dover at maximum specs!! and Rise Of Flight too! and all smooth, like DCS World at maximum specs with 1.2.5... for hours without problems Does it happens to anyone else?? Is there a solution?
SkateZilla Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) Monitor Temps of your GPU as well as Power. For a System to randomly shutdown, it has to be: A. Power Levels on CPU 4/8 Pin Drop, System Shuts off B. Power Levels to the Mainboard 20/24Pin Drop, System Shuts Off. C. PSU is failing, and when put under extreme load, Shuts Off. D. CPU Reaches Critical Temp, or CPU Fan FAIL (reports 0 RPM), System Shuts Off. E. GPU Reaches Critical Temp, and System Shuts it off. F. GPU Crashes, System Cannot Recover the Display Pipeline, System Shuts Off DCS Cannot Simply Shut off your PC. You PC, can shut itself off to avoid electrical or thermal damage. DCS Pushes 2 CPU Cores ALOT Harder than most other Sims. Radar Rider Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 Ufff too much possible critical situations. Will check. Any recomendable software to do it and have reports saved even if system shuts off?
SkateZilla Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 HWiNFO will display temps of every Sensor, as well as Voltages... an you can set it to log. So even if the system shuts off, it will log up to that point. sslechta Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Looking at your specs Radar Rider, I see you at 6 gig ram. I've noticed since 1.2.5 that DCS.exe eats up more and more ram. I just upgraded from 6 gig ram to 10. At 6 DCS would eat up 4 gig then crash. Now at 10 gigs DCS runs about 3.5 to 5 gigs without crashing any longer. Just a thought for you.... Radar Rider Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 Or GPU. I tested it with HWiNFO in "Windowed Mode" and misions starts ok, but with noise in the power supply. Don't think it is, I think that the GPU overloads at the very moment I go to cockpit. In Full Screen the overload is more than 100% of GPU Core Load I think, and it shutts off. In Windowed Mode maximum is 99% in some peaks, and average is 85%-97%. I can fly , but I think it's too much % at all. In the .RAR there is a report of the HWiNFO for Windowed Mode. Change of GPU? Mmmmm Any other tip?ADMIN-PC_1920x1080.rar
roadrabbit Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) :( I have had similar problems as Radar Rider. Ever since I loaded 1.2.6 the furthest I have got into a mission is Runway Start - then black screens (but without any odd noises, and the computer still appears to be running - but is locked to the black screens). It was no problem with DCS 1.2.5. I have followed many of the suggested solutions without success: 1. Go to Start>Programs>DCS>Repair DCS World and click on Repair DCS World 2. Rename the DCS <Saved Games> folder to DCS1 3. Full uninstall followed by re-install I also did a <System Restore> before doing another uninstall/re-install. I am not keen on the DEP (?) line edit under the CMD prompt as I am not a computer expert and would not know what I was doing, or how to undo it if it did not work. I am really hacked off and want to go flying again  Edited September 8, 2013 by roadrabbit Alpine Systems PC with Intel i7-2600K @ 3.40/3.70 GHz. roadrabbit Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 DCS World Crash and Possible Fix :D I am back flying after following one thread which recommended the following: 1. Click on <Start> 2. Type: CMD click <Enter> 3. Type: CD\ click <Enter> 4. Type: CD Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bin\ click <Enter> 5. Type: DCS_updater.exe update 1.2.5 click <Enter> This worked for me (no, I don't know what it does!) and I am back flying. Although it has 1.2.5 in the above command line entries my DCS World still shows 1.2.6. Perhaps someone more computer literate can explain? Who cares - I'm back flying:pilotfly: Alpine Systems PC with Intel i7-2600K @ 3.40/3.70 GHz. NVidia GTX590 Graphics. 24 Gb RAM (24 Gb usable!). 64 bit. Windows 7 PRO SP1. 3 x Samsung P2370 monitors. SkateZilla Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 that's an Odd one indeed. Vibora Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Radar Rider, I'm also using a GTX 560 Ti OC as you without problems, BUT my RAM is 16GB. Roberto "Vibora" Seoane Alas Rojas [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vibora Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Also, I'm not an expert but the power supply can be easily overloaded with CPU overclocking if it's not a good and powerful one, that yours is making noise it not a good symptom, maybe you should try reducing it's load, disabling the overclocking for example. Radar Rider Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 The overcloacking is from Gygabite manufacture, don't know how dissable. Maybe the power supply is almost broken. Perhaps need to buy another one more powerfull, like 1000W, couse the lot of hardware connected to it. I'm searching, but don't know when I'll can buy it. 1-2 weeks? 1 month? .. ¿?
roadrabbit Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 That should have rolled you back to 1.2.5 That's what I expected to happen, but when I loaded DCS World the sticker said 1.2.6. I'm no computer expert, as I said, just glad to be back flying. I'm also pleased that my 8 Gb of RAM appears to be working fine - I really didn't want to have to add more. As a follow-on, I remember being told that with my set-up more than 8 GB would be wasted and unusable. Is this true, or just another myth that floats around the various forums (fora?). :book: Alpine Systems PC with Intel i7-2600K @ 3.40/3.70 GHz. SkateZilla Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 The Average user would never need more than 8 GB, True. However Flight Simmers are not the average user. roadrabbit Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 That should have rolled you back to 1.2.5 :music_whistling: I spoke too soon, and SiThSpAwN is probably right! We (my computer and I) crashed again. So I re-did the CMD line fix. This time it did roll back to version 1.2.5.17086. Since then I have been flying and all my old missions now work again. I have even upped the scenery and have bushes, trees and birds in places I didn't even know I had places (where did those oil rigs come from?). Yes - I'm enjoying DCS World again :D Alpine Systems PC with Intel i7-2600K @ 3.40/3.70 GHz. NVidia GTX590 Graphics. 24 Gb RAM (24 Gb usable!). 64 bit. Windows 7 PRO SP1. 3 x Samsung P2370 monitors. Radar Rider Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 I think will change my power supply, maybe a Corsair CX750 80 PLUS Bronze. If that doesn't fix it I will jump from a bridge ... with my wife pushing me :P
roadrabbit Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Glad you got it to work, although rolling back is avoidance of the problem, not fixing it ;) Agree entirely. I shall research extra RAM to see if that helps, especially after a reply that my system should be able to address it. Alpine Systems PC with Intel i7-2600K @ 3.40/3.70 GHz.
