Mustang Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) Hello Mustang How to reduce the brightness of the only clouds (I use warm colors hdr) Hi DrCrow :) You will have to edit 2 files to get your desired level of brightness - cldDraw.fx and cldImp.fx (Bazar/Shaders/clouds): in cldDraw.fx search for line 421 float3 finclr=saturate((t1*pix_const6+r0))*(0.02+1.2*grad)*cldclr + 0.04; change to the following (parts in bold) float3 finclr=saturate((t1*pix_const6+r0))*(0.2+0.8*grad)*cldclr; (just remove the + 0.04 part) and in cldImp.fx line 153: c*=cldclr + 0.04; just remove the + 0.04 also so it's just c*=cldclr; OR you could just use older cldDraw.fx and cldImp.fx files from an earlier version that you prefered, this might be your easiest route. Mustang Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Thank you Mustang I'll try that  @edit I did it :book: Looks alright :) i have re tweaked the clouds again in the recent versions to more the default lighting levels. v5.43 is uploaded, this time with some tweaks to the fog radius.
theGozr Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) would you have some pictures of the new set ? before after? :) Thx greatly Edited September 12, 2014 by theGozr Fly it like you stole it..
aeliusg Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Thank you Mustang I'll try that  @edit I did it :book: TBH these clouds look awfully dull. The clouds in your previous screenshots looked more like actual clouds. Maybe our monitor settings are different?

aeliusg Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 that photo have sweetfx, still not completed configuration Your SweetFX settings look great. I think I tried them once. What I was saying about the clouds is that they look quite gray. Look how bright your plane is compared to the clouds. At that altitude the clouds should also be very bright.

Mustang Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) This mod is 100% compatible with recent 1.2.10 updates. Edited September 26, 2014 by Mustang
Mustang Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 Been a little while since an update, v5.44 has been uploaded - the aim of this version is the improvement of ocean quality at lower altitudes, see screenshots in first post (bottom three pics)
Mustang Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 So what do you guys think of the changes in latest version? has anyone noticed the sea looking different at lower altitude? if so does it look good or bad?
Shadow KT Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Shadow here....dude water looks freaking awesome on all levels now and the whole ground texture as well...might upload some pics even 'Shadow' Everybody gotta be offended and take it personally now-a-days
Vex Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I haven't been flying over water that much recently so I might be completely off, but have you changed it's reflectivity in some way?
Mustang Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 I haven't been flying over water that much recently so I might be completely off, but have you changed it's reflectivity in some way? No the reflectiveness is the same, what i have done is reduce the amount of blur between horizon and sky at lower altitudes, i think it looks pretty good :)
Vex Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Yeah, the horizon is better defined now. I didn't notice as I was staring into down into the water trying to see what has changed, ha. But now that I see it, I like it. I think you nailed it, there was too much of that haze before. Going to play around to see how it looks at different conditions and times of day.
POLARIS1 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 A request if I may Mustang...in some updates there's a recurrence of hazy horizon. When flying straight and level it's about impossible to maintain altitude because there's no good reference...

Hmm are you seeing this problem in the current version? horizon should be very nicely defined and very noticeable.
Bushmanni Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I noticed that overall brightness seems to drop slightly when you are at high altitude so that ground looks greyer and darker than when looking from high altitude. This seems to affect also the cockpit so I think it's related to some post process effect, possibly directly to the exposure control. I tried looking through the HDR shader codes but couldn't find anything altitude dependent but then again I'm unfamiliar with shader language. I think that would be one point this mod could improve if it's possible. Overall this mod is a visually noticeable improvement to the default settings, especially now that the sky is brighter so it doesn't hinder dogfighting. Morpheus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Hi Mustang, your mod is very nice. I tried the last one and I have no cloud shadows on ground. Is there a way to set value of cloud shadows ?
Mustang Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Hi Mustang, your mod is very nice. I tried the last one and I have no cloud shadows on ground. Is there a way to set value of cloud shadows ? It's strange that you don't see cloud shadows, here is what i see maybe they are too faint for you? You can alter the cloud shadow darkness for yourself in cldshad.fx line 62: Out.cOut.w=0.7*(1-c.x);//c.w; increase the bold part to something like 0.8 or 0.85.
theGozr Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Darker shades is great.. also possible for darker aircraft shadows on ground? I cannot remember where.. Fly it like you stole it..
Morpheus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Thanks for reply Mustang, I'll try this nextly. The Gozr, je crois que l'ombre des avions plus ou moins sombre se règle au niveau des options de DCS, à tester (ombres: bas/moyen/élevé).

Overall this mod is a visually noticeable improvement to the default settings, especially now that the sky is brighter so it doesn't hinder dogfighting. I noticed that too and I'm not using HDR. It seems to me that it's the same haze/air scattering effect that turns all distant scenery bluish and indistinct. To me it looks as this effect isn't limited to horizontal view directions and possibly isn't taking the air thinning with height in account. So when you get 10+ km above the terrain, it gets noticeable, especially as a lot of scenery will then be at 25+ km slant distance looking over canopy rails. I haven't noticed darkening in the cockpit, so maybe that part is a HDR issue indeed.
theGozr Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Morpheus merci, well here, this is where the shadows were before.. The aircrtaft shadows are too soft..
