cichlidfan Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) I just did a new mod installation without touching the zip, I created a folder with the same name next to it, and it works just fine. Devrim Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 I switched back to original texture file, entered any mission. Everything seems OK (Blue Russian cokcpit). Then I installed my mod again (Extract or unzip mod file, drag and drop all DDS files on texture zip file). And it works properly. Do not move my zip file into texture folder. Do not change original texture file's name. Finally zip file must be seen like that for DCS World v1.2.6u3: Intel i7-14700@5.6GHz | MSI RTX4080 SuperSuprimX | Corsair V. 64GB@6400MHz. | Samsung 1TB 990 PRO SSD (Win10Homex64) Samsung G5 32" + Samsung 18" + 2x8"TFT Displays | TM Warthog Stick w/AVA Base | VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle | TM MFD Cougars | Logitech G13, G230, G510, PZ55 & Farming Sim Panel | TIR5 & M.Quest3 VR >>MY MODS<< | Discord: Devrim#1068

Flagrum Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) The guys who have the black cockpit problem: what tool do you use to open, or in this case, change .ZIP files? Maybe there are some issues or unexpected behaviour with those programs? Like, perhaps they don't really replace the files, but add them somehow (and thus mixing up the whole .ZIP file)? Or there might be some windows permission problem with the newly changed .ZIP file? Perhaps you try this: Unzip the original texture file to a newly created directory (i.e. on your Desktop) Copy Devrim's files into that new directory to overwrite the old ones Create a new .ZIP file with all files in the new directory and name it as the original texture file Edited October 29, 2013 by Flagrum
Motorpsyhco Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I spend all my time with the Mi-8 + the cockpit of Devrim and I don't have your problem and my DCS is upgraded with the last version. Are you sure that you installed all your files as Devrim explain to you ? It's very strange as problem... Bye, Skull. Hey Skull, Yes. I switched back to original texture file, entered any mission. Everything seems OK (Blue Russian cokcpit). Then I installed my mod again (Extract or unzip mod file, drag and drop all DDS files on texture zip file). And it works properly. Do not move my zip file into texture folder. Do not change original texture file's name. Devrim, I didn't move your zip file into texture folder and I didn't change the original texture file either. I did do what you suggested me to do. I am just as perplex as you...uhm? Graphics-Card related rendering-problem, maybe? You know, you might be right. I did upgrade my video card driver a couple of week ago, and I know that it was messing up some other programs that I was having issues with. I try it and see. Thanks The guys who have the black cockpit problem: what tool do you use to open, or in this case, change .ZIP files? Maybe there are some issues or unexpected behaviour with those programs? I'll do that if going back to my non latest Video driver and see if that works, if not I do what you suggest Flagrum, Man, you guys are awesome1 I just want to thank you all for giving me some help here. I will try to do what you all suggested and get back with you all. Thanks, Motorpsyhco
seikdel Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 The guys who have the black cockpit problem: what tool do you use to open, or in this case, change .ZIP files? I originally tried both 7zip and windows explorer. These gave me the black cockpit problem. I then tried winrar, and it fixed it.
Devrim Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 This may be the problem. I compress the files via WinRAR. Other softwares may corrupt the zip file... ?... Fifi Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Same here, WinZip works very good to unzip any files, even the Rar ones. Already had problems with inverse... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Flagrum Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 This may be the problem. I compress the files via WinRAR. Other softwares may corrupt the zip file... ?... Maybe not corrupting them, but perhaps working in an other, unexpected mode. For example, files can't really be replaced in a zip-file because the new file can be longer so it will not fit in the original place. Therefore it could be appended to the zip file and the original file within the zip is just marked as deleted. A different approach could be to first unzip all contents, replace the files and then re-zip it (like i suggestet earlier). which approach which zip tool uses - i don't know. Possibly it is also configurable by the user. Anyhow, these different approaches is what I had in mind - maybe DCS can only handle not all of it.
Motorpsyhco Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Well, it works Devrim. I updated the Mi-8 to 1.2.6.19532.290-284 and your Black Cockpit Mod worked! Baffled the heck out of me. However, I did take a lot of your all's advise. Like the Video driver, WinRAR and so forth. Thanks to you all. Motorpsyhco

MIDWAY Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I'm a bit of a windows rookie, so I'm having some problems getting the files into the correct folder. Even when I figured out how to set the permissions I still get an error and am not allowed. A quick google search showed that I couldn't move the files with windows explorer, so I downloaded 7-Zip and did it that way. That also failed. Can anybody tell me how the heck I can move these files around and get this to work? I'm ready to throw my computer out the window. :helpsmilie:
