Just curious is the damage visualization goal is to replicate those of Cliffs of Dover, which has some amazing damage graphics on the planes.

Just curious.

Thanks,

It's all we know currently

EDIT:

BTW, there's a big omission in any damage model I know of, namely - progression of damage due to [1] high airspeed and [2] failure of an element where it gets bent back and forth.

The visual aspects of CloD's damage model coupled with DCS's ability to model damaged systems and such, would be amazing...

Oh yeah! That would be sweet.

maybe just me, but it seems like the flames in this game - and how there are always flames when you, ie. shoot a wing off, seems very off. CoD damage is much more realistic at least visually

No, not just you. It's probably an unfortunate legacy of Lock On. Modern aircrafts usually have wing fuel tanks. This should be completely disabled for WWII.

Someone posted a quote that the visual damage model is planned on being worked on...

The P-51D has wing fuel tanks... Right?

But I agree it is a little too volatile with the full blown inferno the instant the wing is compromised. I'd prefer a little more damage before ignition. I'd also like to see more pieces coming off the plane...without regrowing, of course. (DavidRed calls them Lizard planes when the FW-190 regenerates its tail :D)

Yup, but they are close to the centerline. The effects are porked :)
