Quick question for the screenshot/video pros:

Is there a (Supercarrier) camera similar to the catapult cam that's fixed to the boat but the view is focused on and following the starting aircraft?

RCtrl+F9 doesn't follow the aircraft and LCtrl + F3 isn't locked to the carrier but to the ground/sea.

Three questions -

1 - I am trying to view/watch a replay track of a multiplayer mission and I cannot jump from AC to AC using F2 in the mission. Any ideas as to why?

2. Back in the IL2 1946 days, you could put cameras in target areas and jump to them for various views...has DCS done or thinking of doing something like this?

3. There is no way to rewind the track so you don't have to keep restarting it to get the shot?

Any advice, insight is appreciated.

Hello,

I have a problem since I have moved to the latest version of DCS ; RCtrl+RShift + Num Pad 2, 4, 6 and 8 (for pan camera) are not working anymore.

In any situation, I can't pan my camera.

Does someone konw what happened please ?

I really need this 😞

Thank you

1. Look up "dcs enabling external views for multiplayer track". The solution should be similar - editing the track as mission file to remove restrictions.

2. No such thing. You can only cycle through airbases.

3. No such feature and not planned. I doubt rewinding is going to be possible even in the new rewritten system. Better plan your takes, record several video shots for each take and work from there.

Have you tried disconnecting all your controllers, including TrackIR/VR? Test with keyboard only.

Thanks.

Don't have Track IR. Only controllers, mouse and keyboard.

I'm gonna try without controllers and I'll tell you ... Thanks again

Is there no answer to this? When / why did this happen? Really makes external screenshots setup difficult!

Talking about "Truck" and "Pedestal" movements.

I found the answer in the changelog for Oct. 19, 2023

NEW: Cinematic Camera View - Right Control + F2. In combination with the mouse, the WASD keys can be used to move the camera forward, back, and laterally, and the Q and E keys can move the camera up and down.

I fly in VR and playback in 2D by not starting Pimax software and then opening DCS.  The initial view is a recording of whatever I was looking at when creating the track file.  If I change views, is there a way to get back to this initial view from the pilot's perspective.  Hitting F1 goes back to cockpit view but is locked on whatever I was looking at when I first change to a different view during playback.

I'm also having difficulty getting the sound to play.  I'm using Nvidia shadowplay, and sometimes I can get the audio to play, but when I import to powerdirector, there's no sound in the sound track.

How would one get a ‘Truck and pan movement’? I’m trying to achieve a move where I can almost ‘move around a point’ on an aircraft but rotate around it.

Im trying to truck left or right and then pan as the camera is locked on a certain point or area like a missile tip for example.

At the moment I am RCTRL+F2 and then CTRL + *or / to scale in/out. Then I truck slow with CTRL+W or D and then turn my head using TiR or the mouse but they create a jerky pan.

Am I missing a better way?

I might be late to the party but I recently discovered you can tilt the free camera (RCtrl+F11) clockwise or counterclockwise with the 3 and 1 keys, respectively.

Please ED, can you simply fix the descriptions for fast/slow bindings in Local object camera?

All of them are inverted. I've returned to this cam after a while and first redone my bindings only to find that all fast/slow is the other way around.

EDIT: Forget it, it's worse... whatever I set here, LCtrl is always slow and LShift is always fast. That's what confused me. I wanted the mods exactly the other way, it acted reversed and I thought "ah, labels are swapped, typical". But in fact, these fast/slow bindings seem to be ignored and modifier works somehow differently.

How should this work?

EDIT 2: I made a few experiments:

  1. I assigned non-mod binding (e.g. key H) to Camera height up slow. The result is that it acts just like Camera height up (default speed) - but LCtrl/LShift modifiers don't affect this key. So the LCtrl/LShift don't work as some default modifiers.
  2. I removed Camera height up slow/fast bindings, now I can't move camera up slow or fast, only the default speed. That sounds expected.
  3. I set Camera height up slow/fast with different modifiers, RShift/RCtrl+E. All plain E (yes, I'm a ESDF guy) and E with either modifier only moved the camera with default speed (?!). Using any other mod for E didn't do anything - at least that was expected.

So there is something special about using LCtrl/LShift for those bindings. Doing so, it seems you "enable" the slow/fast movement in the first place - but otherwise it's completely ignored what modifier is where. E.g. with this (fast/slow are reversed for up vs down):

The camera works fine without a mod, with LCtrl it's always slow and with LShift it's always fast. This system is broken beyond user's expectations and very confusing.
