skc Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 After a re-install of Windows onto a new HD and then re-install of DCS, I too have the same "Application unable to start correctly(0xc000007b)" Have scoured the forums and tried everything to sort it out but no joy. It worked fine before. Did anyone actually succeed in sorting this out and if they have please let me know? Still waiting for DCS help to reply. Must say with these modern online linked games I am spending far too much time "fiddling then flying" and using up expensive and limited bandwidth, and I may give up using & purchasing from them altogether and go back to my beloved Sturmovik 1946 and other older but more stable programs. Really a shoddy state of affairs!

Those are not part of Windows core install along with DirectX all ver. need to be installed with the new install of Windows. don't forget the Windows updates that go with the new install. After all of that is completed you will still have to update Bios, GPU and any other drivers that have come out sense the Release of your Windows ver. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. Kuky Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Well if it worked before with exact same hardware, then it can't be DCS issue, must be you haven't installed some software that you had before OS re-instal... my guess is you need to install Microsoft Visual C++ libraries, on my system I have quite a few of these installed: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x64 9.0.30729.17 Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x64 9.0.30729.6161 Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable - 10.0.30319 Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable - 10.0.30319 Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) - 11.0.50727 Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) - 11.0.60610 Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) - 11.0.50727 PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
skc Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 New GPU Drivers made no diff. Have already installed some of the Visual C++ but will go ahead and put all the ones you've mentioned in. Thanks
skc Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Downloaded and installed all the Visual C++ but still the same start up error. Do you think at all if I download the latest DCS off website 3+gig(!) it will help? I'll have to buy more expensive bandwidth but only if it will work. I am beginning to despair!!!
outlawal2 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Make CERTAIN that you have downloaded all required patches and driver updates for every piece of hardware you have... This is especially important for video, sound and HD drivers "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO

Might be worth trying to do a clean install. ANd try starting DCS World before installing any modules... and then do one at a time, confirming they work instead of installing everything all in one big chunk... SkateZilla Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) out of curiosity, is there an Event log Entry with more data other than the (0xc000007b) Error? (Specifically Faulting module or something). Start Button, Search Box, "Event Viewer", Open the Event Viewer, Windows Logs Folder, and It would List APP Crash under System or APP Crash / DCS.EXE or LAUNCHER.EXE in the Application Logs The problem is usually because of a 32Bit/64Bit DLL MisMatch in Visual Studio. The Following Files are Replaced by 64-Bit versions or vise versa. To Fix, Backup the Original 5 Files, and Copy the 5 Files from a Working PC that doesnt Crash. (Ie I can ZIP/RAR Them and Post them for 64-Bit Systems), This Problem also Effects 32-Bit Windows. For 64-Bit DLLs c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcp100.dll c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcp100d.dll c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr100.dll c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr100_clr0400.dll c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr100d.dll For 32-Bit DLLs: c:\Windows\System32\mfc100.dll, c:\Windows\System32\mfc100u.dll, c:\Windows\System32\msvcr100.dll, c:\Windows\System32\msvcp100.dll c:\Windows\System32\msvcr100_clr0400.dll I Can ZIP these 5 64-Bit Files up tonight and post them, but they may or may not have to be replaced in when the Windows Kernel is Offline Mode. Also, You can prolly Start an Elevated Command Prompt (As Admin), Run chkdisk /R , after it scans and repairs anything in the file system, re-download the 2010 installers Download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555 (x64)http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632 Dont use the WEB Installer or SDK, User the Redistributable. Boot to safe mode, and Move the 5 Files to a Safe Spot, Run the Installer to Replace them with Fresh Versions. skc Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Did that. Clean install straight from the CD. I thought the modules were already 'built into' DCS and just needed updating. I did download the one I bought (A10) and after long download discovered it was the wrong one! I was then told and successfully updated, from within the main screen of DCS. All this very frustrating and time wasting which at my age is in short supply! (beyond retirement but still working!)
skc Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Skatezilla, Something new to learn every day! Have been into computers since the ZX Spectrum days but must say my tired old brain finds it harder and harder to keep up these days! Did the Event Viewer after trying to start DCS and just got this: Launcher.exe - Application Error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. Need more time to look through it. One thing I am wondering is: I was advised by someone on this forum, in order to save on downloads, when I reinstalled Windows on the new HD to (1) Install DCS from CD but not update. (3) Then change this DCS World folder name. (3) Copy across the entire updated DCS folder from the old HD. (which I still had) to same location and then run DCS from that. This I did (and still had to update 2.6gb.) but even after the update same error. I then uniinstalled re-installed still same error. Was wondering if this did not mess things up. I have a pile of work coming up and will have to continue the "detective work" probably on Thursday (3rd Sept) and continue with what you've advised. If you can, please post the files you mentioned. Will check in with you tomorrow night or Thurs - Thanks.
AtaliaA1 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 skc I noticed you have 2 monitors. BenQ FP93GX (1280x1024@60Hz) S24B370 (1920x1080@60Hz) are you running the simulator on just one monitor? Is the resolution for the Sim. the same as your desktop? if not set them to the same resolution before starting the Simulator again. And what was your reason for having to re-install window? I got your PM. It would be a pleasure to sit and talk over a beer or ice tea with you. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. skc Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Atalia, Re-installed windows because of increasingly occuring stop/start issues, pc switching off for no reason etc all worsening with time. I guessed maybe HD failure and/or virus. Anyway after restore to previous date, antivirus check etc nothing improved. I then did a defrag with Ultimate Defrag and after that PC would not start up at all into windows! I then got new drive 1TB and re-installed Windows. Stuck the old 600gb into casing and after full antivirus check am using it as a backup external. Still has all programs (except windows) intact. Have copied across Modded Sturmovik & Rome Total war. which work fine. The other program I eventually re-installed and got going has been ROF. Running well after initial connection issues. I know these "internet connected" games are to prevent piracy and keep one updated but where I live bandwidth can be expensive and sometimes limited. Running sim on the 1920x1080 (desktop) Not sure what resolution the sim needs and how to change as cannot start it. (maybe a .cfg somewhere?) Interestingly I also had to get new monitor recently. (the Samsung 1920x1080) My old 1680x1050 packed up. Not sure if I re-installed sim before or after that. Maybe try changing monitor res to 1680x1050 or refresh rate??? Worth a try. Once I get a gap will try that as well Skatezilla's suggestions. I am getting desperate and my A10 is slowly rusting away! I in S.Africa (hence the issues with bandwidth etc) so currently bit far for beer but we can at least "chat" this way.
skc Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Must it be specifically Direct X 9? I have 10 (or even 11) installed.

skc Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 I tried as suggested deleting the DCS folder in users/saved games. On start it found another update did yet another 500mb download which installed successfully but yet the same error! Surely there should be some sort of patch in the updates to sort this out. All my other games & programs are working well. Cannot just blame windows. I am seriously thinking of making an issue about purchase of such shoddy programming and their add ons. Just not worth the time and money anymore.
skc Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Skatezilla Can you post as suggested? (Ie I can ZIP/RAR Them and Post them for 64-Bit Systems) Do you do it here or do you need my email?
AtaliaA1 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 SKC. I read over the complete post looking for something we may have missed. Two things come to mind. One is the Sim. at one point had issues with older USB devices plugged in when a user would attempt to start the game. Unplug all USB accept the keyboard and mouse. especially any joysticks you have. The other thing I don't understand is why the hard drive you replaced is working now as a back up drive, but as the main drive it would not start windows. making me think there is something else afoot (as it were). But as you stated all other software is running, I can't stand by that one. Puzzling for sure. will continue to think about this one even while off line. Once I was having an issue while in the PC Lab of a company I worked for. Went home thinking about it, at 3:47am out of a complete slumber the fix hit me in my sleep, I couldn't sleep the rest of the night I was so relieved. LOL Love this stuff. skc Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 Thanks A1 for adding your brain power. I am desperate to try anything! Will give it a go when I get a gap. I'm not sure if it was HD or Virus or something else that caused the initial HD problem. Most likely software related as old HD works perfectly now. One thing that has been niggling me is that someone on this list told me in order to save bandwidth for updating I must do the following which I did: (1) Install DCS from the CD onto new HD (2) Change the name of DCS folder. (3) Copy across entire updated DCS folder from old HD to same location. (which I still had). (4) Run DCS from there. This I did and updated now the error. (which occurs even if I try running from the installed DCS) I just wondered maybe this could have caused the issue, having 2 folders of DCS, even though one had different name??? Most frustrating. All my other games such as ROF etc running well including a number of old one's such as modded Sturmovik, RTW etc etc working well. (which I also just copied across)With all these updates why can there not be a patch to sort this out. Only DCS has this issue.
AtaliaA1 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 It would cause a problem if you didn't put the name back after copying it over. the exe. is looking for "L:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe". When you right click the DCS World Icon click properties and it will open a box that says Shortcut and it should lead to your install location as mine does. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. GGTharos Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Just use the latest DX9 - DCS is a DX9 program it will not work without it. Also what you've posted makes it sound like your old HDD was failing ... if that is the case, then I question the wisdom of copying stuff from it to the new HDD and expecting it to work, as that data may now be corrupted. I tried to installed DirectX 9 from that link but it will not let me saying I have a later version. Must I try and get rid of later version first and try Directx9 install again, and if so how do I get rid of the later version? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
