How do people "duck" to move the trackIR down to look at lower panels?

I've seen a lot of videos where the camera moves down a bit to have a better look at lower panels.

Now I have no idea how people are able to do this, because I don't have a neck like a turtle!

<p>I can only move my head down maybe a few centimeters by sort of shrugging down, so I'm really interested in how people are able to accomplish this? :huh:

Yeah I'm the same way...you can adjust the trackir curve so very little movement translates to more in game movement. There was a YouTube video showing how to set up trackir for dcs.

I'd have thought that a cockpit layout that required the pilot to physically lower his whole head to see the instruments needed a little redesign. Doesn't just nodding forward work?

I'm sure RL pilots have no difficulty. Depending on what the OP is trying to see, a poorly setup TIR can make some POVs awkward to achieve.

Real pilots don't need to read anything pixel interpolated so we might need to "duck" a bit more. just give it a bit dead zone so you don't duck while aiming for a gun run and accelerate the curve after the dead zone :)

Do you have TrueView enabled ?

 

With TrueView you just look a little down and simply move forward - this will bring your head down towards the panels.

 

Profiles >> Motion Adjustment >> TrueView

TrueView

TrueView takes virtual rotation (yaw, pitch, roll) into account when applying physical translation (x, y, z) movements. This allows you to turn your head to one side, lean toward the monitor, and have your in-game view zoom in the direction you are virtually facing. Disabling TrueView results in physical translation superseding virtual rotation, so that moving toward the monitor physically always moves the in-game view straight ahead, making it impossible to zoom in any direction other than straight ahead.
