I tried to install 2.0 both as a partial and then as a full installer and keep getting the same error message on the Harrier Hotas graphics. No big deal for me as I don't have that module.

I have 3 questions:

First, on the Su-33, the lever produces the W key which is for wheel brakes on. If I understand correctly, this produces a 110kg brake pressure. I also have toe brakes assigned to my TM rudder pedals. There is also a command called "wheel brakes start" that produces 200g of pressure and is more suitable for taking off from a carrier. Is there any way to change your lever command to produce the wheel brakes start command which is assigned the left shift W key command?

Second, I am a little confused on the TM MFDs. I have the Su33 set up as assigned to button 20, but when do I press it?

It also appears that button commands for the Su33 does not coincide with the FC3 diagrams for the mfds. What am I doing wrong?

Third, is there a button for the special afterburner mode (left shift E) for the Su33 profile? Am I correct that it is located on the shift LTB?

That's a great idea. I didn't know about the "wheel brakes start" command. Do you know off-hand if it is momentary (like wheelbrakes) or a state toggle? If it's a state toggle that can be released with W this could be really simple to implement.

Second, I am a little confused on the TM MFDs. I have the Su33 set up as assigned to button 20, but when do I press it?

From the User Reference in the section Switching Between Profiles:

Hot-switching profiles involves pressing and holding S3+LOSB1 for two seconds. At this time, you will see all of the MFD LEDs blink, then light up in a combination that indicates the profile you have selected.

The two second hold is the key; this is to prevent inadvertently switching profiles during flight. Once you're in "swap" mode, OSB20 will select the Su-33. If you can't get into swap mode, let me know what profile you're starting with so I can troubleshoot.

Third, is there a button for the special afterburner mode (left shift E) for the Su33 profile? Am I correct that it is located on the shift LTB?

Yes and yes.

Hope this helps,

HF

I notice that you now use the target GUI program rather than the script program. Correct?

I also notice that perhaps because some of your commands are so complex, they do not appear on the HTML printout and this makes it hard to follow with your charts, but no big deal.

Is there a suggested method for someone (me) that would perhaps like to modify a command or is it just to complicated? From what I can see, even the slightest change is beyond my ability to understand or even locate. Oh well.

Hello Home Fries,

Can I use this script without MFDs?, I have warthog only.

Thanks

You can use it, but you won't have the ability to change profile on the fly....about other functionality if you have warthog throttle you won't loose many of it.

I use Home Fries profiles without mfd because I use DCs in VR and I wouldn't be able to press their buttons anyway.

Sobe,

CTS now generates your script and DCS_UserSettings.ttm file. It allows you to have your settings saved between updates.

What you say is true. However, the nice thing with the update system introduced in 2.0 is that I can make and distribute changes in both code and documentation faster than before. As a result, I can be more responsive with hotfixes and address individual concerns. I'm looking into the wheelbrake thing right now.

Like you say, there are things that are too complicated for the graphical summaries, and many of them are described in the User Reference. However, if there's something incorrect or something I missed that should be there, please bring it to my attention and I can fix the documentation and put it out for a quick update. Also, if the charts are too small (a scaling artifact due to the size of the GUI), you can always right click the image and "save picture as," or you can find the pictures in the Docs\Profile JPGs folder.

Thanks. That's a big help. So it looks as if one models the handbrake and the other models the pedal brake.

EDIT: Ok, I think I have a solution, but it won't be simple to implement. I want to be able to keep "regular" wheelbrakes tied to S4 so people without toe brakes aren't at a loss. So I'll add it to the Eject Check routine, and if it detects the Landing Gear Horn button (T6 for Cougar) and S4 at the same time it will set that as Wheel Brake Start. Then I'll add an exception in so you can run up to special afterburner mode without having to hold down S3.

BTW, the next version of the documentation, you will be able to click on a large graphic to blow it up to 100%.

It looks to me that the wheel brake start is held only for long as the command keys are pressed. You can see that on the joystick in the game as well as on the brake pressure gauge.

I assume from your above post that you will enable a user to use the wheel brake start and special afterburner commands so that they can be easily done with the HOTAS while pushing the throttle?

One additional question on the Su33, how does your nav modes button work. Do I have to take the boat switch out of nav mode that back again with the shift button?

I don't want this to go to your head, but your brilliance in programing Target and the WH together with your knowledge of DCS is fantastic. I think your headed for a long and successful programing career, although you may make no money if you keep wasting your time with DCS.

Yes. I made it work. Check your updater for 2.01

Yes, that is an issue, which is why if the boat switch is in the center (nav) position, you can cycle nav modes with S3+H2U. ;)

Too late. Those wings in my signature (which are real, by the way) say that I already have a king-sized ego! Thank you for the compliment, though. I actually have a lot of experience in software development and enterprise architecture, so this is definitely the hobby side of things.

I didn't notice any thing different in the WH diagram for the Su33 although it is labeled 2.01. Was something changed -other than what you have in the change log? Of course now DCS keeps crashing so I have to spend some time on that. The fun never ends.

Just the change log, though you'll notice that the entry is hyperlinked to the User Reference so you can read all about the new feature. The change to the graphic is in the Special Key Combinations section as well as the LED indication at the top.

Home Fries, I dont know how to express my gratitude to your work, except telling my story:

I´m a Warthog user since the first time this HOTAS was avaliable, and from the beginning, I tried to use TARGET profiles with it. I always failed.

I hated to load the GUI with the profile everytime I wated to make a kick flight, the three devices turn into one, some keys do not worked, etc... and all these years, with DCS, I had to reconfigure my controls and keys, for every plane (I have all of them) manually, and after some updates, I lost my keys hundreds of times, ED changed the way of the lua controls worked several times, etc.. and I had to start again, and again, and again...

So,eventualy I almost lost interest in DCS and forgot in the most funny part of it (at least for me): To learn to fly and combat with each new aircraft avaliable.I had to configure lots of keys, adapt the controls to my usual configuration, etc..It was descouraging...

...until I discovered your work one week ago.

I´m flying DCS again. Took me some time to learn about luas, diffs, scripts, etc, but the manual is so well written and the folders so well structured, that is really easy to configure all.

Now, DCS is a new sim to me. I´ve been enjoying some the best moments in sims I can remember since Falcon 4.0. I forgot how important the proper HOTAS configuration is and the possibilities of TARGET programming.

I dont want to sound so excited but I really wanted you to know how important is for people like me, with zero habilities with programing, to use your configurator. Please, keep updating it.

Also (not everything can be positive :-) ) I would like to comment that with the Harrier profile, although I know is a work in progress, I´m having difficulties with TDC movement using the slew control. Maverick attacks are really difficult. With CTS 2.0 the slew control didnt worked at all, but with 2.01, seems to work, but with problems. I dont know if its my fault, as I dint changed your default keys. So maybe someone can share his experience to help me.

For the ending a small small name error: in the warthog images of the profiles, you call the COMBAT SWITCH to the BOAT SWITCH, like the Cougar. I almost go crazy trying to find where that switch was, until I noticed the name in the Cougar files.

Thanks so much again, and sorry for the long and full of spelling mistakes (Im from Spain) letter. :smilewink:

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but your new scheme for wheel brake start and special afterburner is not working for me. I am only able to get the wheel brake start to work by using the key commands and then S4. The horn button does not seem to do anything. [no animation on the brake lever in the cockpit and no increase in the brake pressure on the gauge] The same for the special after burner working with just the LTB and not shifted. The light in the cockpit comes on for the special afterburner only with the LTB and S3. I think this all may be just a syc issue, but I don't know.

Also, on your checklist for takeoff, some have recommended no flaps and the engine outlets to open using the LALT + I command.

Home Fries, I´m testing all profiles (latest 2.01 version), and I´m noticing some problems (at least for me). Can you check them when I report them? I want to be sure its not my mistake:

First one:

Huey profile import (TARGET UH1 wh v140.diff.lua and TARGET UH1 kb v140.diff.lua) does not create Cyclic Pitch and Cyclic Roll. Must be added manually. I tried everything.

Thanks a lot.
