I've heard from multiple sources that an F-15E is supposedly in the works from a third party source. I've also heard that the F-14 (my personal favorite) would not be implemented because ED was trying to stay away from anything that wasn't a single seat aircraft. Is this true? Or is this only the case for ED and not third party sources?

Either way, how are they going to implement an aircraft that requires two people under the dome? Would someone need to be your RIO? And if the Strike Eagle can be done, wouldn't that mean the Tomcat can too?

I guess they are avoiding multi-seat aircraft because we cannot multiplay the same aircraft at the moment. Belsimtek wants to implement this feature for the Huey and Mi-8. This just takes time to implement. Maybe after we can play aircraft together we will see a multi-seater from ED.

I personally am still hoping for an A-6 Intruder. (Please, anyone?)

They need to do serious work on the net code before they can implement multi crew. It can barely keep up with 25ish players now. Add multi crew with that performance and you've just created a disaster...

Multiplayer need lots of love, the younger generations hardly play games without MP anymore.

Multiplayer works well unless CA is involved...

works well until people try to go intercontinental.

That being said.

BST has done 2 multi-crew modules already.

Too long since I checked out the F-14 in anything resembling detail, but if my memory is correct the big difference between F-15E and (at least) F-14A is that the former can be fully operated from any seat if you want to, whereas the latter requires two people. Hopefully someone knows the F-14 and it's variants well enough to give a confirm/deny there.

But basically, if that is the case, the F-14 module would either be multiplayer-only, or there would have to be a pretty huge job done on the AI, or there would have to be some pretty ugly shortcuts taken in design.

That is a bit different compared to aircraft that have two crew, and each crew has a given speciality, but both can (if necessary or desirable), do the other guy's job.

I remember playing the Microprose F-15 sim in co-op front\back seater mode on the Atari ST ( yeah, ok, I'm pretty old :D )

It was really good fun - being able to do that with modern graphics and systems simulations would be marvellous.

One of the Aces series (I think) had a B-17 that could be filled with real people.

etc., etc., etc.

I'm waiting. Patiently. OK, only semi-patiently (grin).

Cheers!
