UPDATE! I now have a CNC and am able to start making some other cools stuff. I have been really busy lately but things are starting to slow back down and I have more time for simming!

Products that have been developed and can be made within a few days and shipped out.

Thrust Master Warthog Extension.

A-10C variants ready. Any length can be made. Straight tube only. Working on a bent version.

Parts will be made of Taulman 645 Nylon for superior strength.

Basic kit includes both ends, Aluminum extension tube, PS/2 cable (you will need to modify to work with the warthog. See this link for instructions http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3184593/1.html

Kit Price will vary slightly and will start at $100 USD plus shipping.

Producs in the WIP/IN Development/Testing Phase.

WIP - Helicopter Extension for Warthog

TESTING - Adjustable top plate for warthog extension - Threaded piece that will allow adjustment of throw. Price TBD

WIP - Spring kit - Kit will include spring and 3d printed parts to allow centering of extra stick weight with the extension. Top plate must be purchased in order for this to work. Price TBD

FINAL TESTING - Collective Base

Collective base and parts kit can be ready to ship within a weeks notice. Kit includes base, pipe, bearings, shaft, and tension device. Price $100

WIP - Still working on mounting a hall effect sensor and the electronics.

Electronics for this kit are still WIP. I can include a LEO Bodnar board at customer request.

WIP - Throttle for collective. A throttle is still in development phase.

WIP - Changable heads - At a later date I plan to make several variations of the heads to be used on all helicopters in DCS. These will be complete with switches.

WIP - A-10C firepull handle mechanism - Working on the A-10 firepulls. Still sourcing materials and working on a design.

WIP A-10C Gear lever - Working on a gear lever design.

Custom Orders

You dream it up, I'll print it.

I have an 8x8x8 inch print area to work with.

Several materials on hand, ABS, Nylons, PETT, more choices if needed.

Prices will be quoted beforehand.

I can model simple things, nothing complicated.

If files are sent they are considered your property. I agree to not use them to make a profit. I do ask that I can print parts off for my own personal use.

Please contact me via PM or email.

Good idea, shame your on the wrong side of the pond....

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Oh, i've always imagined how an entire 3d printed A-10C cockpit would look, especially if the program running it was able to create the thing from the .edm file :)

Yeah i know, it's a silly idea but imagine it :D

You'd have to have the source MAX File, and Cut the Cockpit into Small Pieces, Export them to the 3d Printer, Print the small pcs one at a time, then Gorilla Glue them together.

Lol, was about to say, I don't think that small printer could manage that. :p

Pretty neat though. I know that the newer 3d metal printers ( which cost a king's ransom ) just managed to print out a whole .45 caliber automatic pistol. They've put 50 rounds through it now and its still holding up. Tech is getting really interesting!

would prolly be quicker with wood, cross sections, and lots of tools.

Oh I might have something for you.

Let me work on a 3D model (read: gear lever assembly).

Just to confirm:

8x8x8 inch, is about... 20x20x20 cm?

yes

The materials:

How strong are they?

Depends on what material. Nylon is damn strong. ABS is very stong as well when printed solid.

What's the smoothness of the surface?

Depends. It can have the lines or you can sand them out or finish with acetone vapor for a smooth finish.

What's the precision of the printer?

Depends on the settings and setup. I can usually get it to print within 0.5 inches. better if i spends more time with it. Depends what kind of part I'm printing.

One more question: how can this stuff be painted? Or does the plastic come colored? Back lighting possible?

Not sure about painting the PETT or the Nylon. But they are clearish so you could probably back light them yes. I will look into it and see what I come up with as far as painting goes.

The abs comes in pretty much every color and the piece will be printed in the color used. I believe this is easily painted using the right paint.

.5 inches??? So a part (let's say something like a square block with extrudes or something) could be .5 inches off????

my bad..... No no no. hahaha .5mm

Its very accurate. I can print working threads.

I'll get a picture example with my micrometer tonight.

we are talking 10ths of a mm on a bad day.

here are some examples of the stuff I have made.

Stevos,

I like your collective there. Do you have a price in mind for the 3D printed parts for that?

I'd also like a mount for TomDK's gear handle that could be attached to the gear panel backing plate I have from Glider_UK if youre doing a batch...

Cheers,

J.

I haven't decided yet. I was still working on my prototype. I was planning on using an arduino with a hall effect sensor and figuring out a twist throttle and making different heads for different choppers.

The collective itself requires a lot of material. Would you be interested in all the other parts with it or just the plastic base and nylon tensioner?

Post me a link to what you need for the gear lever and I'll see what I can do.

Posted

Stevos,

Basically I'd be after the base alone that you have shown there and tensioner. I guess it takes standard gague pipework available in the usual suspect hardware stores?

I also guess its not too heavy for acceptable price limits in the mail from the US to the UK?

I'll see if I can work something up for the gear handle too...

Cheers,

J.

I have one of a slightly diffrent design. Ill get you some pics. yes I designed it for the pipe I have pictured but anything around that size should be acceptable.

Shipping might be expensive. Not sure. I can look into it. The bearings and shaft are from McMaster Carr. I can include all of those as well. All the hardware except the pipe.

I am working on the electronics still if you want to wait?

Stevos,

Is that second part down a fitting for the TM:WH? can't find that thread anywhere around here. I think it's a European garden hose fitting. If it is I would like a set that will allow me to install a stick extension. Let me know.

Thanks,

John

Stevos,

I can do the electronics side myself.

That said, if you have the electronics and its not a major price difference I might decide to buy the whole caboodle.

Let me know what you have...
