Well the new pedals are still sitting here unopened in the box beside me. Anticipation, that is what I am talking about lol!

I have decided I am going to go ahead and upgrade my Windows 8.1 install to the Win 10 offer, I have been making preparations and figured I might as well go ahead and do that and get it knocked out before installing the new pedals, that way it is installed and running and I can then install the pedals and software and not worry with maybe having to redo it.

Making some final preparations and saving all my data , images, etc to an external drive. Hopefully will have everything running and the new pedals installed early in the week. I am sure I will be posting some very positive feedback here soon. Really looking forward to using these in the KA-50.

W10 upgrade was a breeze for me.. accepted the on-line auto-update method - it does take quite some time to install even after the initial download... had a few issues afterwards in relation to Saitek controllers which have since been remedied with new drivers but this won't effect you in any case. (and, as you know I'll soon be rid also) :bye_2:

Apart from that, everything went smoothly - prep-wise, with all essential files, configs, custom settings etc backed up, the only other thing you might be wise to do is de-activate your DCS modules.

Get that damn box open and stop wussing about man!

Lol.

Yep the upgrade install went smooth as could be, retained all my programs and settings, all my 4 physical drives and their data. Not a single conflict in device manager. Installed some latest win10 drivers for my hardware, and now I am good to go. Have complete system image of 8.1 should I need, but right now certainly looking like that will not be the case.

I could not be happier with how smoothly this install went. But I did do a lot of clean up and prep work beforehand, that always helps.

Pedals are next on the hit list, not sure will have time today but soon for sure!

Gotta let that anticipation keep building !!

I will try to post a quick review with some pics here next week.

nice to hear it's gone well... as and when you're ready, don't forget, you can regain quite a few gig of ssd space by deleting the windows.old (created automatically during the upgrade)

Ya I have already been eyeballing that and asked about it on the Ten forums. I made complete images of my system just before upgrading to Win 10, and just after upgrading so I don't think I will be needing that Old file.

Thanks,

just thought I'd mention it in case you started wondering where all your SSD space had gone! Another thing which will really hammer the space on your SSD is your Crosswinds ... you'd be best to send them over to me for total peace of mind!

LOL, I will keep that in mind come Monday morning when I am testing them !

Heck I have not even opened the box yet, still sitting here by my desk. I know better, I know if I open it, then well I will just have to assemble them, and then well I will just have to take that first flight, and then.... well I better wait till I have the time to devote to doing it proper!

Just note that you can't roll back if you delete the Windows.OLD directory. You can use Windows file cleanup program (google for it). It's the easiest way to delete it.

Well for those of you who are wondering how the Crosswind pedals will last after repeated use, I pretty sure I can give you an answer.

I have had these pedals for 2 years now as of this Christmas.

SN / 067

I have all the flight sims ROF /IL2 /BOS /COD /MS FS and of coruse DCS, and there are very few evenings where I am not flying one or the other.

After 2 years of repeated use I have not had a single issue, they are working now, just like they did right out of the box!

Pivot points are still tight and acuracy is still like new.

They show no signs of wear other that needing a little dusting.

I wish I could say the same for my other hotas and pedals!

They are by far the best money I have ever spent for my system and are the best pedals I have ever owned.

The reason I can say that is because I have a closet full of pedal from other companys, along with all the other hotas systems ever made.

Precission is flawless even at 2 years old and the assembly is very robust.

I would not trade, sell them for any price.

You cant go wrong with the MFG Crosswind for the price you pay!

Best money I ever spent!

Panp,

A great write-up which, I'm sure will be well appreciated by people like me who have recently placed an order and anyone else, for that matter, who may still be undecided on whether to pull the trigger.

Good choice! And now the fun begins, the waiting, the anticipation...

Well I guess my anticipation and excitement has about reached the threshold, going to crack open that box finally and get her going. Have been watching Milan's videos and think I have my arms wrapped around what I need to do. These pedals apparently have so many adjustment options it should make fine tuning to one's preferences very easy.

I got the width adjustment plate and extra cam option as well, so will be interesting to see what I decide to end up using for the first test run (probably what is already installed lol). The width adjustment plate allows one to make the pedals either a little wider than stock or a little narrower than stock.

My biggest pain is going to be pulling the desk away enough from the wall so I can snake that USB cord through the hole in the back desk panel and thread it around to my USB port.

Stay tuned...

Assembly was a breeze, I just watched the assembly video again whilst I put it together, probably didn't take 15 minutes. The pedals have nice rubber type pads on the bottom, on my hardwood floor it does not appear they would move anyway, but I put the wall spacers in anyway to have them, as they will but up the back of my desktop backing.

Just moving them around with my feet, they feel very smooth. Quite a contrast to the Saitek Combats I had in feel.

I am re-arranging my desk a little, unhooking my subwoofer and moving it out from under there and in the corner back beside my desk, so only the pedals will be under the desk and not worry about the sub being under there. Also trying to tidy up all my cables back there a little while I am at it.

I will be posting a more in depth review when I get this sorted. Currently I have the cam that was already installed in it and have not installed the width adjustment plates, going to see how they feel stock first.
