  2. Absolutely, If you want to mock one up however you like Im more than happy to adapt it to the system.
  3. Great post GT, this helped me understand constant speed props more. Also, we tend to forget that the massive propeller (13ft diameter IIRC) has a mass that has to be moved by the engine, so you lose some HP there. I would like to know what settings were used for combat when you are constantly changing throttle quite abruptly at times. I assume the engineers come up with max continuous as a balancing point of not overloading the engine, not overspending the prop, preventing knocking, and providing enough thrust for combat manoeuvring. Included in this is the pilot not having to spend brain power on thinking of all of this in a dogfight. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk
  4. I feel your disappointment - Users spend Thousands of Dollars on computer equipment and modules after watching one of the carefully staged and Edited DCS Beyond Video. Some Users who shield DCS and pretend to be in authority here will be quick to dissmiss your complaint as your expecting too much and the Devs are too busy hey you can still get some great screen shots. Just make sure there are no tanks stuck on top of plants - inverted taxiing aircraft spinning on their cockpit roofs - Dead Aircraft flying in endless loops - Trains going backwards or up in the sky out to sea - Trains passing through each other and bouncing back and forth between waypoints. Some comical videoes showing the issues should be placed on YouTube. Hard to believe but no one Listens or is interested or fixes these problems. Maybe too busy creating scary hand cam from the 1960`s so you can watch your own joystick hand thunderbirds style on screen. Maybe 4k Pilot eyebrows with growth control that are also affected by the inside rain effects.
  5. Any chance of getting more helicopter specific templates? Id be more than happy to help out with that if it was useful.
  6. Today
  7. Yup, I use SimShaker. Just sharing here that if you go this route, you will need to get their current beta version for the Corsair feedback. They just added the Corsair recently, but haven't moved it to their stable release yet. I've flown with it for a few days now, no issues, just in case beta stuff scares you, which would be ironic flying the Corsair
  8. Thanks for that! But the question can be raised why does HB communicate in Discord and not here, in the official ED forum? I hate Discord and try avoiding it wherever I can.
  9. Flew in light icing conditions on the Afghanistan map after cold starting. The airspeed indication in the IHADDS went to zero, and I realized the pitot heat wasn't on. I tried to turn on the pitot heat on the appropriate MFD page, and found that you are unable to cycle the auto/manual system, can't turn on the de-ice or pitot heat, etc. A quick search showed it has been this way since 2022. Will this be fixed? Thanks
  10. It helps to understand some of the science here. Here’s what I can offer to help appreciate the bird a little more. If you already know this stuff, then please ignore me, but I’ll post it for those in the community who may not know it: Max power does not equal max speed. Max power refers to engine power, not the power that is converted and comes out of the prop to propel you forward. Max engine power just eat up more fuel. If you’re running at 2700 and expecting high speed, try running a car or bicycle in 1st gear. It’s similar. The propellers need to take more bite out of the air when flying quickly. So why then would the engine be putting out so much power, without a lot of speed? Well, look up propeller advance ratios. It’s analogous to the angle of attack of a wing’s airfoil. When a propeller is running flat with high airspeed, you are way off the maximum efficiency point for the propeller’s airfoil. The propeller would be doing a terrible job at converting mechanical power (equal to torque times RPM) into propulsive power (which is equal to thrust times velocity). This is the sole purpose of a propeller: Convert the power. If your propeller is only 20% efficient here (a reasonable number for low advance ratios caused by high RPM and not a lot of forward movement), then for every 100 HP the propeller can put out, the engine must supply 500 HP. For max speed, you want to find the point where the propeller airfoils are operating at their most efficient local angle of attack. With variable pitch props, prop efficiency can be brought up in the neighborhood of around 80% to 85%. You’ll never get 100% because the blade will always slip a little in the air when chopping at it. So for that same 500 HP from the engine, you now have so much more speed from the power conversion because the propeller is only wasting 20% the supplied power now, simply by changing the blade pitch, even when at a LOWER RPM, just like your car or bicycle. How do we find this optimum point where we can maximize our prop efficiency? As pilots, we use the charts the engineers put together for us since we don’t have direct control over blade pitch, or what would be even better, the advance ratio. As an aerospace engineer myself, I’ve spent lots of time in wind tunnels over my career with propellers collecting this data, and publishing performance charts. I love this stuff and can talk about it all day. It’s tough to grasp at first, but if you ever want to know more, just shoot me a message. You mentioned above that you could barely get above 200 knots. I just did a flight earlier today at 5,000 feet, cruising conservatively at 2200 RPM and around 33 MP and was moving around 210-220 kts indicated, which is around 235 knots true. Try it out. I could have pushed it even faster if I played around with the MP and RPM, but I was just cruising to save fuel when flying back to the boat. Propeller efficiency is a huge deal, and you’re not going to get good efficiency at 2700 RPM unless you are very slow, because the blades are flattened out. Jets move faster or slower based on your throttle position. Warbirds are completely different. Just remember that RPM control has nothing to do with setting the RPM on your engine. The RPM lever controls a governor that is linked to blade pitch. So, when you pull the RPM lever back, you may actually be INCREASING thrust because now your blades will start biting into the air. Yeah, I’ll agree that some things with this module need tweaking near the edge of the envelopes of altitudes, temperatures, ground handling etc, but for the most part, this plane feels pretty good, and operates very closely to the charts when flown correctly. Not too bad for its early access, incompleted, state. I uploaded a quick test mission with a script that shows you engine diagnostics. Spend 5 minutes with it. It’s an air start, so you can quickly start playing with different throttle and RPM settings and see their effect in real time. It’s a great learning tool. Hope you found this helpful, -GT-

  12. Hello, I have a problem hosting a server for my friend. When he tries to join through the server name, the server doesn’t appear, and when he tries to join through the IP, it says “server offline.” I set up Port Forwarding for port 10308 with my IPv4 address on both TCP and UDP, but it didn’t change anything. The IP shown on http://www.whatismyip.com/ is the same as in the game, and the port in the game matches the one I set in Port Forwarding. Can anyone help me?
  13. Would it be possible to add support for animated PNG or GIF files during game play? It could be used for a variety of things - news flash, intel update, or a meme. It would be added thru the Mission Editor. Good idea or bad idea?
  14. I put it in the wishlist but the dev “someone” replied not anytime soon but hopefully in the future
  15. @HR-Crumble, the above quote was the latest reply from the Dev. The quote below has a link to the list of bugs the Dev will work on. Welcome to the club! Sorry to hear you are also affected by the diff brake bug. Do the links answer your question?
  16. The reality of Panchir S1 "OLD command guidance system is only 19% defense rate" "Wrost then china defence system by syria army" "The Pantsir S1 has many defeats against the Israeli airforce, even without the EWS/ESJ." There's a lot of soruce about the Panchir S1's defeat if you search for it. If the Panchir S1 or Tor M2 appear in the DCS, the F-16 and F-18 should also be equipped with the 2012 avionics https://vz.ru/news/2018/11/2/949009.html "In turn, the efficiency of the Pantsir-S1 air defense missile and gun system for the same period was 19%." 2020 February, the Turkish military released a video claiming that eight Syrian Pantsir tanks had been destroyed in a large-scale airstrike. The Pantsir-S1 was destroyed in significant numbers in the Syrian war. Its "OLD" command guidance system. interception are very poor. In the case of May 2018, they made the excuse that they had used up all their missiles and were surprised, but in the case of January 2019, if you look at the video released by Israel, the missiles fired by Pantsir were flying in a completely different direction. In May 2019, sources within the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian Army and Navy were dissatisfied with the Pantsir air defense system and were considering a completely new air defense system. The military considered the Pantsir air defense system too heavy, complex, and ineffective against potential threats, while the naval version of the system was also too expensive and ineffective for protecting ships in coastal areas and ports. India abandons Pantsir S1 and purchases ROK air defense weapons In May 2020, the Syrian military criticized the radars on the S-300 and Pantsir, saying they were completely ineffective in detecting Israeli cruise missiles. # In fact, it also said that Chinese-made air defense systems were more effective. https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200501-syria-says-russian-missile-defence-system-ineffective/ In January 2020, the Israeli military reported destroying a Syrian Pantsir tank deployed near Damascus. https://defence-blog.com/news/army/israel-targeted-several-pantsir-s1-air-defense-system-in-syria.html

  18. hey all..well fired up liberation and during a flight dcs will freeze then ctd... I checked dcs logs and no crash zip file created..... uninstalled vid card and reinstalled still happens... i have even had it do it during quick mission aswell.....
  19. Yes buddy the Quest 3S is equipped with sound, and I must say it is sounds good. You should absolutely give it a try! We only live once, what do we have to loose? But please do buy Virtual Desktop Streamer aswell (25 dollars) it is a huge performence boost and make multiplayer run as good as in singleplayer, Here is my post I made today about my VR settings and the performence I got:
  20. I really have tried all the things suggested in the forums, tickets with ED. My computer is totally clean, all I do is use it for internet and DCS. Sim crashes regularly...after certain changes it will be better for a while then start again regardless of mod, map etc. I have updated and backed up nvidia drivers and I have reinstalled DCS dcs.log
  21. Thanks guys for all your replies! Many of you have really good headsets and computers, your VR-experience must be truly amazing! I can't really imagine what you are experiencing! What makes me suprised is that even a guy like me on a small budget can have an truly great VR-experience aswell. Playing DCS in VR is truly nothing like playing on a 2D-monitor is really is like two completely different simulators. Not to create massive hype, but it truly is like two different simulators. I have made a post of my VR-settings, after 4 days of tweaking I got it to work great, with stable 60-70 FPS in singleplayer and 50-50 FPS in multiplayer, a HUGE thanks to Virtual Desktop! Virtual Desktop truly is black magic, I gained a huge performence boost and stability improvement in multiplayer, it really is night and day. Thanks buddy! I can't wait to try it out (looking at you Hind)

  23. Hi guys! I bought my VR-headset 7 days ago and have been adjusting my settings every day since then. I finally got it working really good and though I might share in case anyone else been having trouble. Having a medium budget PC and VR-headset is no problem to start playing DCS in VR, it works really good, you have to do a lot of tweaking to get it working, perhaps sharing my settings might serve as a fast-shortcut for you. Performence: 60 - 70 stable FPS on Germany Cold War Map in singleplayer, 50-70 stable FPS on multiplayer Cacasus. My Pixel Density Setting in DCS: 1.1 My VR-headset and computer: Headset: Meta Quest 3S Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-core Memory: 32 GB Storage: 2 TB The most important thing you can do is to buy and install Virtual Desktop. It costs 25 dollars and is a massive performence improvment to online stability and to FPS. Virtual Desktop works great with Steam (I am playing DCS from Steam). Do not use SteamVR. I had huge problems, particularly playing on multiplayer servers with disconnects and crashes all the time, but with Virtual Desktop Streamer no problem at all!

  26. Try assigning an axis to it. If you cant, not sure what else to say as you really should have some hardware specifically for this in VR. Its hard enough to fly it with hardware, cant imagine wanting to do it with a mouse in vr...
