  1. Dedicated to ruggbutt and who hates the shimmering shadows. for LockOn 1.1x and 1.0x, LoMan 2.1 and ModMan compatible. Available at my site This mod removes the cloud shadows to solve the shimmering shadow problem. I know this is not the best solution to the problem, but now you have a choice at least; Shimmering shadows or No cloud shadows. It's normal "Structure Lights Mod" is stated as "Not installed" when this mod is installed.

  2. Hey all, I know that this isnt LOFC or LOBS, but I just finished my second FS2004 movie "Duelality", and I thought that I might post it here since SuperFlanker was recieved well. I kindof took a nose dive into my magical bag of visual trickery on this one:smilewink: ...be forewarned though, if you have an aversion to aphex twin, or hard electronica, avoid this movie. 4. Dont get me wrong, I would love to see the missiles get upgraded or downgraded to proper levels, Im not saying anything otherwise. Yes I wholeheartedly agree that polits train for this as well. But since we're speaking realistically here, realistically its not going to happen except once in a blue moon. Do you really think that clickable pits are going to make a world of difference in this? This requires you to move your head away from where your head NEEDS to be during an intense situation. Thats not realistic, thats just plain dumb. Lack of SA gets ppl killed. Real pilots flip switches without even looking at them. I merely made a point that everything that makes this game so unrealistic should be fixed to make it realistic. And you know what? I kind of like the idea of having jammer aircraft come inbound, break up the sound of that AWACS biotch who never shuts up when a bandit shows up on the scope. Having SEAD show up and blow the crap out of all the SAM's in theater so we COULD do some great BVR engagements (and thus move on to vulching, since that is the object of online missions) and ultimately, destroy the opfor base with big huge freakin' bombs. It would make it that more satisfying to chase down bombers and jammer a/c online, if you ask me.

  5. First, Simulation and training are a very huge part of RL military aviation Second, Not all of that simulation and training is about a complete air campaign. Not all exercises are Red Flag. You can perfectly fly a 2v2 mission IRL, just as you would do in Lockon. You could perfectly train for a BVR shot, as you do in Lockon. BS will bring a hitherto unseen level of faithful avionics reproduction in Lockon, with 3D-clickable cockpits. Are you going to say it is not important, since the whole thing is unrealistic because there is no Prowler around? Please let us cut this crap and stay with what is simple and understandable. GGTharos has suggested, in this but more elaborated in other threads, a modest improvement to radar missile behaviour. I hope this little improvement will be in BS. That is all. The concept that a simulation is somewhat more or somewhat less realistic depending on features is very valid. The concept that simulation isn't real at all because it isn't the real thing just is not an interesting claim, it means nothing. The suggestion by GG and others does. It is a meaningful contribution.

  6. Of course HL is unrealistic most of the times. That is because tactical buffs meet noobs and arcade style pilots. Usually, IRL in one coalition there is a team of pilots sharing a certain standard of skills. I join HL very seldom, and if I do, just for fun - that is kill as much as possible of the opponent coalition, usually it ends up 1vs many (1 is me...) Flying with my squad, it is a total different thing. I know my playmates since months or even years, we do a lot of training and established a minimum level of common tactics and gameplans. And we communicate a lot, so this is always a team versus others (AI or another squad) or we do training 3vs3, 4vs4 with two teams of our own squad. We gain most of our fun from developing and testing TACTICS, which is the major point why at least I am still with Flanker/Lock-On/Flaming Cliffs. That's our motivation flying this sim. I subscribe that. In the end, it doesn't really matter, if a missile is modelled 100% correct or not. If you are going into tactics, you have to cope with the situation as it is. You have to find workarounds and tactics to deal with your disadvantages and to make most from the opponents vulnerabilities - and ... that is like IRL again ! LO/FC is a great game the way it is !

  8. Boneski, I think I know what you're getting at - the way you're saying it makes it sound like you're saying something negative ... and you aren't helping. :) Like I said ... there is a general goal in mind, and while we cannot simulate each missile with its individual faults and such not (it's all classified after all!) there are enough details that can be implemented in simulation to bring tactical maneuvering to something resembling reality - the goal /is/ to have a fighter pilot say 'yeah, this is more or less how we'd do things if things were equal' (because things have to be somewhat equal when we don't know what -makes- them unequal) There's nothing else we -can- do ... but you're coming across as if you're saying that it doesn't really matter what we do or why, we might as well leave LO as it is!

  9. T= Recording subtitle (text) track = CTRL-9 to start, SHIFT-9 to end. The commands place the start and end times for the text that you add to the file with NotePad after you have flow the mission. Rich

  10. Not at all . If you want the game fixed to make you happy... you have to clearly express what that level of happiness is... It seems for most that level is an aviation career in a box... thats going to be tuff for any developer to pull off. Missile data is classified. Trust me. You won't get too much info outside of the briefing room.... But reading the tread starters post he feels that His missiles are under powered and the other teams missiles are over powered... What would make him happpy? Balance? Winning out right. What? Whos said that this is not the way things really are>?? His missiles need to have the advantage is what it sounds like he is saying. He was flying a missile truck and feels like he should have won... The point about ranges is that he does not know the facts... so should the game be altered to fix the F-15 so that it can be the super jet ? What fun would it be to fly agaist ? The programmers can program balance. It seems that the advantage is programmed the wrong way for this guy. b\ The problem is that with out first hand facts it's crazy to customize the game for a small group of vocal users... that's all... The guys wants better missile... while this guy wants better taxi lights on the airfield.. what's more important? Maybe one day a sim will come out where the users can mode the database tables and the user can tweak the game to their liking. It would be too sweet if the tables controlling taxi lights could be changed... that would make this sim user so very happy.

  11. It is this kind of arguing between 2 groups for the same genre of an artform that pushes us futher into the hole that the fps games are putting us into.

  12. I'd love to be using LOMAC, or FC, or LOBS, but, I'm stuck on a computer from 2002 that simply isnt that great anymore. Oh only if I had a computer capable of running current-gen games.
