Guys, I guess that a lot of you are missing one important thing here. More sophisticated airplane = more bugs in the system. There is no totally reliable aircraft around the world. Anyway, from what I know the F-16 is one of the most dependable aircraft, if properly maintained. On the other hand, even the best handling and maintenance cannot save you from problems. It's just a piece of technology and as such it's susceptible to malfunctions. From my experience, current jet engines are one of the most reliable machineries made by humans. I also don't agree with some people around here, especially those from Western Europe, who still think that people from East just left their caves and trees recently. Trust me, there are many highly educated and trained people here and they know what to do with their equipment. We are equally smart, cultured, even prone to errors as you are. (Sorry, I just had to say this ) I am glad that the pilot made it to a safe landing. Respect! :thumbup:2 points

I have recently tried to install and play Flaming Cliffs on my pc and Starforce is not finding the key code automatically from the disk. I have researched a measure, and found that it is a possibility that this particular disk may be flawed from manufacturer/distribution. I have tried to contact Evolved Games in order to receive some assistance, replacement, etc. to no avail. I did however get a recording that saying that they no longer "handle" any issues concerning the dilemma, but unfortunately do not pass the information on as to who does. If anyone has any idea as to whom I may contact to resolve this, or if anyone knows whether or not the key code issue is a disk flaw or a Starforce issue, PLEASE help me,:helpsmilie: I want to see the blue skies again!:pilotfly: < oh yeah, and drop some bombs on new and interesting people/places..:smilewink:..>1 point

...that draws so many knowledgable and experienced people? Its bloody amazing, and makes discussions like a minefield! You must always assume that the person who you talk to has real life experience or has done serious study on the topic at hand. But I dont get it, I mean, first Lockon is a survey sim with limited avionics. Second, there are several things that everyone agrees are modeled incorrectly or are out of whack. Yet there are all kinds of experts and people with real experience that are part of the community. Maybe I'm missing it, but I just don't see this nearly as much with other sims' communities. You don't see a lot of hardcore discussion about PESA vs. AESA radars, for example. The discussion resembles a frat house more than the scholarly debate that goes on around here. :smartass: I can remember participating in wargame forums a few years back. Most of the guys "in the know" were historians and professors. There were a handful of retired military people, but very very few were active duty. Its almost as if the sims all the switchology attract a whole different crowd than Lockon. You'd think that a "nerdy" sim with all the buttons and avionics would attract all the people who want to seriously discuss hardware and tactics. But its just the opposite from what I've seen! Lockon has all the nerds! (myself included in that statement. :) ) I wonder if this will change now that the move by ED is towards these types of sims.1 point

After giving these drivers the initial thumbs up, i have for now reverted back to the good old 169.21whql as i also had some stability issues, with screen freezing costing me a round win in rfactor after around the same time frame as Esac described above. PS: tried using a restore point i created thru windows prior to installing the new driver, so when i wanted to go back, in a hurry for the second race it failed to restore, no wonder i use 3rd party drive imaging software. anyone else having stability issues with these new 174.20 beta's?1 point

Like Bimbac, Groove and Nordic said, it has nothing to do where you are from and no matter how old or new the equipment, it will brake. If equipment did not brake I would not have a job. Here is my example, F-22 is suppose to be the baddest aircraft out there right? Here some maintenance issues I found on the net: Brand new aircraft right? Stuck canopy http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewsr.html?pid=20396 Brand new aircraft with, IMO, A very serious problem: http://www.f-16.net/news_article2210.html I'm just saying, it has nothing to do with where you are from. Some equipment, no matter how new will brake and aircraft tent to brake more than other equipment. I mean think about it. What other equipment or vehicles out there can travel hundreds of mile a day, at a average of 200 to 400 knots? Fighter aircraft brake: http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2007/11/airforce_raptor_rust_071112w/1 point

Exactly. During my german airforce time i worked as a service guy on the Tornados... broken things were normal! Those birds need a lot of attention.1 point

Like the old SEC/BUC-system? No idea if the PolAF Vipers have them or what engines they use, though, but on the RNoAF Vipers checking SEC-mode is one of the items on the checklist pretty much immediately after startup.1 point

@Weta43 Reading your quote from Wags flips on some light bulbs. I didn't know they were intending their work for professional simulators to be used so closely with the entertainment ones. Now it all makes sense! I had no idea. Ok then, carry on! :D1 point

Предлагаю в миссию где синие F-15 и A-10 против всех добавить 2 Су-25Т с ПРР. Или убрать их у красных.1 point

It is you that are twisting the subject to your own agenda, going to extreme ideas while I suggest inserting something REAL. You are the one that should take time to read slower. Or more then two rows are to hard to read? Also, I do not get what was the point in giving me a negative rep just because I suggest realistic modding and you have some personal issues? What is wrong with you? Do you give negative rep to everybody that questions your comments? Jeez, you are some tense person. Relax dude. How many negative have you given to Boberro? I guess his rep took a huge downfall since you joined up... To bring back to the subject, if ED is going to devote full attention to DCS and BS, I see no reason for contolled modding of FC. People could submit their work, and all ED has to do is to approve and give blessing (or not). I have hard time believing that LO/FC is limited to current number of flyables. ED does not have to be the one to add additional flyables (or the replace the existing ones), but why not instruct the people how to do that? Like, there are those great models of various Mirages. Why waste those on AI? If ED could make few more flyable slots, I bet that French guys could find real pilots that will be more then happy to participate. Demand for a high quality of visual and flying models for additional aircraft is OK, but let's be realistic - not all aircraft are modeled to the same level. I remember the thread about MiG-21 that was to be added as AI. Quite a big demand (in my eyes) were put before the guy(s) that worked on it, while in the same time horrible models for other AI aircraft existed. If I recall correctly, MiG-21 will not be accepted if not modeled almost to the same level as Su-25T! Well, that's why I suggest replacing old Su-25 - it needs rebuilding, so why not make new model even more exiting and replace it with another aircraft? Maybe some western counterpart, like Jaguar? Cheers.1 point

Maybe - but maybe there's more to it than 'choosing it over what others wanted' If, as Wags said, ED is in a situation where: & given that they 1/haven't done any of the new radar modelling yet, & that's likely a big job - so no A2A combat yet, & 2/they haven't done the 2 person code yet, so single seaters are first choice, & 3/ they already have a viable fixed wing technology demonstrator in the A-10 work they did for the ANG, & 4/ they probably want to add choppers to the available aircraft they can offer to military customers ASAP (& they have managed to come to an arrangement with Kamov for access to system info) modelling the only single seat attack helicopter in (albeit limited) service seems like a logical idea at a strategic level, regardless of whether it's the first thing that springs to most of your 'civilian' customer's minds. But I do agree with you about sofrash, writing posts in a hurry can lead to some careless structures? (see - I can't think of the word I want) use of language, that can make the poster look like he has no idea what they're talking about - even when they do ...1 point

Dunno if thats a humorous coment, but all Migs Poland had were built at a time the soviet union didnt believe their designs should be made to last. As a result export custumers who have owned them for 20+ years take alot of hours of maintenance between flights and their sortie rate is very low. The F-16 they got now butchers the Mig in mission avaiablilty and combat capability. If you compare second hand F-16's from AMARC with all export Mig-29's (yes Mig hasnt exported any real new airframes for quite a while) youll see the unfortunate mig owners are all complaining and/or returning their planes, as for the falcon users there havent been much of a fuss.1 point

Thanks Ironhand but the directory is correct in Modman....trouble is mods appear to be installing correctly but they arent actually installed in the game itself when i run it.1 point

This decision broke any Su25T modding. Also why obtrude it ? We can ban somebody who uses unallowed weapons, like now on AA servers, and there is no problem with it. Or forbrid all planes or none.;)1 point

Yeah, I see a lot of people play that game where they take people out of context. Twisting it to their own agenda. Read my post again... slowly this time.... because I don't think you got it right the first time. If you were around MP pre/post 1.1 you wouldn't say that it was careless. Hardcoding weapons was at request from the MP community who was sick to death of being splashed by a Mica carrying MiG-29A. Just as I did then, I still applaud ED for doing this. Less modability = Less X-wings, Tie fighters and sharks with frickin laserbeams in the Lockon world. Now where do I list texture or model replacement as an evil thing. The subject I was speaking of was Boberro umbrage with hard coded weapons. To put other words in my mouth is insulting. To answer your question. Yes I have some mods installed, all are made by ED partners or welcomed by the whole Lock-On community such as walmis. Is such mods in the hands of trusted people good = yes. I have no mods with alter what little realism we have atm, e.g. R-77 able Su-27S/Su-33 or AIM-54 carrying F-15s.1 point
