Are those the 3 main Falcon 4 big mods? Are there others? If those are all of them then I'd like to ask the question: which one would you say is the best, or if there isn't an outright winnner then what is each ones strengths and weaknesses?1 point

It was just as much NATO's policy, due to the Warsaw Pact's bigger conventional force they figured the only way to stop them was to use nukes. E.g. from wikipedia: "Small teams of the Atomic Battle Group would be stationed every few kilometers to guard against Soviet attack, using the power of their nuclear artillery shells to kill or incapacitate advancing troop formations and irradiate the area so that it was uninhabitable for up to 48 hours, long enough to mobilize NATO forces."1 point

Alternatively we can all hang on until ED announce the release of the New Flyable............ ................. ..................... .......................... The F-36 ROACH That way we can all Frolic and Lob Nukes to our Hearts Content with a better than average Survival Rate lest we wear out the RCVR button! :D1 point

And here's the flying display. 1. Bell UH-1 Huey flying by sideways 2. RNLAF AB-412SP 'Tweety' performing a SAR demo 3. RNLAF KDC-10 tanker doing a very low-level fly-by (no, this wasn't a touch and go!) 4. Dutch Heritage Flight, with a B-25 Mitchell, Hawker Hunter T-8C, and the F-16 Solo Display 5. The F-16 starting its display routine 6. NH-90 from the Agusta-Westland factory, with Dutch Navy markings 7. The Belgian F-16 Solo Display drops a couple of flares at the end of its routine Tomorrow I will post the batch from Saturday, which includes pictures of the two major mishaps at the show. Its really amazing how many people here read "nuke" and automatically think Hiroshima-level radius. I don't know whether to shake my head at them and try to educate them or just ponder that reaction philisophically. :noexpression:1 point

Listen to Frost1e ;) It's only natural that at the outset one tends to hone one's skills by having regard to the AI and attendant missions. Then you garner all these tips/tricks/quirks from fellow Virtual Pilots and apply them to your Flights and soon you begin to think - hey - I'm not too Bad after all. I'm getting the hang of this :joystick: A further natural progression would in all probability be an experience similar to what I went through in that the Single Player LockOn World gets pretty Dull relatively quickly. You then decide to explore your Horizons and hop onto a Hyperlobby server and promptly get PWNED ever so properly by your fellow Virtual Pilots. Once you've managed to wipe the Debris from all orifices, you sit back and realize that the lessons learnt from AI are not quite sufficient - coupled with the fact that all your questions can probably be best addressed by actually physically practising it in a virtual 'live environment' as opposed to being relayed the info in a forum post - the best advice would be to garner said answers 'live' so to speak. At the end of the day it's up to you.........What you put in is what you'll get out! I'm however fairly certain that not all things can be learnt from a 'Book' - you have to get your 'Hands Dirty' sometime.........:D1 point

Pretty sure Open Falcon was the original...then Allied Force came around....and Free Falcon is Red Viper. And Red Viper/Free Falcon comes out on top....especially with FF5.0 coming out soon. :D1 point

Why not just simulate it yourself, hit the power button on your monitor whenever the fancy for a nuclear explosion comes to you. Alternatively tho, EMP bombs could be quite cool, shutting down your electrical systems as the blast hits you ( thats assuming the Ka50 has no EMP protection of course )1 point

Ze German Tornados dont have cartridges but a Chaff/Flare Dispenser Called BOZ-101. I dont know the amount of flares yet but chaff is being "produced" by being cut off a 150 Meters Aluminium belt. It wont be easy to get the data on german tornados though.1 point

F-16 only got 4 (block 10 to 52 , USAF,IIRC) It also depends on the country, Israel F-16 carry a lot more countermeasures. Block 52+, block 60 also carry different amounts. Additional cartridges can be added to weapon pylons also.1 point

Some numbers I found so far: A-10A 4xAN/ALE-40V = 120 cartridges B-1B "There are eight dispensers arranged over the B-1B, with each dispenser having a capacity of twelve flares or 120 chaff cartridges. Current doctrine involves crosstraining the DSO and OSO to do each other's job if need be." http://www.airtoaircombat.com/detail.asp?id=81 B-52H "AN/ALQ-153 tail warning radar set, AN/ALT-32H high-frequency radar and communications jammers, and AN/ALT-32L high and low-band radar and communication jamming sets, ALQ-155 Power Management System which is capable of simultaneously countering a wide variety of threats using various power outputs, two AN/ALT-16A barrage-jamming sets, 12 AN/ALE-20 flare dispensers (192 flares) located six each on the lower surfaces of the horizontal stabilizers, and eight AN/ALE-24 chaff dispensers (four dispensers on the underside of each wing forward and between the flaps, with each dispenser carrying 1125 bundles). Subsequent refinements entailed replacement of the AN/ALQ-117 unit in mid-1988 by an AN/ALQ-172(V)2 active countermeasures unit, with updated countermeasures and an electronically steerable phased-array antennae farm." http://www.airtoaircombat.com/detail.asp?id=55 F-14A 2x 30 = 60 charges (often removed before A2A-combat, according to different sources including the one Sir Troooper posted the picture from!) F-15C 8x 30 = 240 F-16A 4x 30 = 120 charges F-16C 6 x20 = 180 charges F-5E 2x(?) AN/ALE-29 = 60 charges F/A-18 A-D 2x AN/ALE-39 = 60 charges F/A-18 E/F 8x AN/ALE-47 = 240 charges F-4E 4x AN/ALE-40 = 120 Other interesting sites: http://pages.cthome.net/fwc/AIR-RAD.HTM http://www.janes.com/extracts/extract/jrew/jrew1242.html1 point

This is a difficult question to answer in some respects. There are different flare dispensers available which can have more or less flares than other, with a corresponding change in flare size and typical flare salvo programming. I had information on F-15C and A-10A, and I can find information for 18, and 16 probably, so I will look into it.1 point

Lotham, there's a small opalescent block on top of the F-14's left fin, same as me but mine is in black. I think mine is in black because of i set Shadow = Full while you're running at All Planar setting Sabertooth said that he's never seen this problem :music_whistling: I tested the F-14D model again without textures and recognize that position was a white light :P1 point

About the clickable cockpit, after watching the start-up developers note video, I got the idea that the mouse cursor position is determined in the screen coordinate axes, i.e. it moves with your head relative to the cockpit. My request is to have an option available to make the mouse cursor direction move relative to the cockpit axes. The effect should be that the mouse stays fixed on a cockpit location while you move your head. For example, press the right mouse button to temporarily switch the coordinate system. This will make it much easier to flip a switch as you can control your cursor with only the mouse instead of both the mouse and the trackIR. Otherwise moving your head will make it much harder to keep the mouse on a certain location in the cockpit. Of course, when the next switch, lever or knob is outside your view, you would release the right mouse button, look at the desired object (while the cursor moves with your view) and then press the right mouse button again to steer your cursor to the exact location. I hope this explanation is clear. I think it would greatly improve the interface as you depend quite heavily on the mouse cursor with so many switches, levers and knobs to be controlled.1 point
