Addictive? Yep, worse than heroin. You are hooked now, no escape! You will have no money (paying for upgrades to your rig). You will always be tired and look like **** (staying up late flying). I can still remember that buzz, I suspect we all can - LOL. It was some A-10 mission I D/L'ed from somewhere. Flying in the mountains, took some hits, losing fuel, one engine, half the control surfaces shot away. Lost the HUD and had to kill the last 2 trucks by aiming the cannon without a gun sight. Struggle back to Sochi, engine quits as I run out of fuel, one chance to make a no power visual landing. Jumping around the room yelling "Did you see that??" to the cat.2 points

was left, now right.. BTW- If you like astronomy, there are some pretty incredible images at the Hubble Telescope site. Many, but not all sufficiently sized for widescreen use. Example: My wife's... You might not bother with the wallpaper section- the standard sizes are small. Use the images themselves.2 points

I don't get it, so many people have great desktop picutres but then they ruin it with so much crap on their desktop! This is how my desktop looks like, nothing but the Recycle Bin and only some files I work with at that moment. I work with a Wacom tablet and I can reach the whole computer very quickly within 2 or 3 clicks. By the way, check out this website for some nice desktop pictures: http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/ 2 points

Hello dear ED forum. The Nordc 3d Aviation team aka me and Crow have been working on this project for quite some time. It started with Crow asking me if i was interested to paint this model, which Crow and Alex from the Virtual White stars wanted to save from getting scrapped. So i said yes to the deal and started to paint. i painted pretty much on the model until one day i had a hard drive crash! . Yes the nightmare of any Pc dude. So after the crash i thought that we lost the model and were just going to leave it, so was the thoughts of Crow the modeler. But anyhow, crow picked up the project again and supplied me with an amazing aircraft to start painting. All animations are done and 99% of the aicraft mapping is done. This model is truly amazing... I know i have seen another F-5 model beeing built but with an release date that is unknow. But i can tell you this. This model will be released, "BUT" in an airshow version first of all. Ok so there is a little sitrap for you. And more models will be produced by the nordic 3d aviation team, you can count on that!!:smilewink: Some pictures: Best Regards Björn Evans1 point

I know its a small milestone but.. I DID IT. I see completing all the stock missions and then the campaign for the flanker as... well.... a kind of mini-graduation. The first missions were damn tough and the learning curve is sharp but once you get the hang of the flight characteristics and practice its simply addictive. I'm right in that there are only 6 missions in the flanker campaign right? I finished the 6th mission escorting the ship-killers by cutting across land to... well... flank the defenders. I popped out on the shore-line right into two helicopters. Popped them. Went on to join the firefight. Wingman didn't make it but it came down to a face to face shootout between me and an F-16. Thanks to what I learned from you guys about the VS mode I got the first shot off but be quickly followed with an AIM-9. He went down. I though I was joining him but them I quickly noticed that despite my avionics being out my bird was responding! Hydraulics were leaking but I had both engines. I used the compass to get me home and landed my crippled bird using only visual cues. Wooo hoo!!! Now I'm off to learn the Su-25T and play user-created missions and campaigns for the Flanker.1 point

Everyone knows that the end is the money that says if a project succeeds or not. No matter how good it is the idea, however much effort and dedication that is invested, if there is no money, no project. We all know of simulators in the past were large projects and because of the money ended up in little or nothing. And certainly none of us wants to see this project disappear by poor sales figures (and piracy ever-present). So, we would be prepared if the situation came to make voluntary donations of money, so they do not disappear this great project?. As already exist in many sites and projects. Sorry for my bad english. (Amalahama you can correct my post for good english please :))1 point

Yes this is a reliable source of information. So is Wikipedia. What does it mean? Most likely nothing. This C-130 can shoot down your aircraft, destroy the runway it took off from, wipe out the area defences and have 6 crewmembers drink coffee and using the restroom at the same time. http://www.popsci.com/military-aviation-space/article/2008-03/how-it-works-airborne-laser-cannon You heard it here, folks, you can trust the information. You read it on the "internet".1 point

Awesome job Matt. I learned a lot! :D Specifically: The box in the HUD represents the gimbal limits of the gun - good to know! Also liked seeing the different modes of aiming, auto and manual..and I never realized at there was a burst length (and rocket #) switch on that weapons panel (until now it was always in Russian and it never really registered..!) Great stuff.. BeachAV8R1 point

AH-64D Block III First Flight ST. LOUIS, July 11, 2008 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], U.S. Army leaders, supplier representatives and other guests celebrated the first flight of the AH-64D Apache Block III helicopter this week in Mesa, Ariz. Just prior to a ceremony attended by more than 300 people at the company's Apache production facility, the aircraft was flown by two Apache-rated aviators -- U.S. Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Richard Cody and an Army experimental test pilot, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Rucie Moore. "This milestone is a testament to the tremendous team effort of Team Apache -- the U.S. Army, our worldwide industry suppliers and Boeing," said Al Winn, Boeing vice president of Apache Programs. "The technologies incorporated into the Block III helicopter come from a cross-section of the best of industry." Experimental test pilots -- one U.S. Army soldier and one Boeing teammate -- initially flew this Block III prototype aircraft over the Arizona desert on June 27 in preparation for today's ceremony, which commemorates the success of engineers, production teams and program managers in keeping the Apache Block III program on time and on budget. Ensuring the continued relevance of this rotorcraft platform for the warfighter, Apache Block III technologies deliver network-centric communications capabilities, extended ranges for sensors and weapons, unmanned aerial systems connectivity and control, and enhanced aircraft performance. The Block III technologies have been successfully tested and matured through a planned process of continuous modernization used since the delivery of the first AH-64A model to the U.S. Army in January 1984 and throughout the deliveries of AH-64A Apaches and AH-64D Apache Longbows to the Army and the defense forces of 10 nations around the world. "Built upon a legacy of success, the Apache Block III will deliver mission-critical performance capabilities to U.S. Army aviators, facilitating successful operations across the spectrum of conflict," U.S. Army Apache Project Manager Col. Derek Paquette said to Boeing teammates who worked to build the helicopter. The Army awarded Boeing the first Apache Block III contract in June 2005. In accordance with contractual milestones, Boeing plans to begin Low Rate Initial Production in April 2010 and to deliver the first production AH-64D Apache Block III in June 2011.1 point

Have you seen what has become of sims like F4 or EECH thanks to the modding communities that these games spawned? Sure there wont be new stuff every day like with ArmA but im sure this game will attract a massive community of hardcore simmers, if it delivers. If possible, this could at least take some workload from ED and speed up future modules.1 point
